It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
WoW = Short thrill-ride that propels you to the heights of adventure, launching you headfirst at a fast pace as you chop, swing, heal, and incinerate everything around you, where you end up sliding into home plate dazed, worn out and not-quite-sure wtf just happened. Three months later you're like....that's it??? I want more! Noooooo!
EQ2 = Ferris wheel. You get in, they close the door, and the wheel moves around and around at a snail's pace. The wheel can spin forever, and the view is kind of nice, you might even get some nookie if you have good company, just don't expect anything exciting to happen.
Conclusion/Suggestion :
PLay WoW , when you get bored, go sign up for EQ2. If you find EQ2 too boring, play other fast-paced games such as CoH to keep you occupied until the next fun game.
Whatever you do...make sure it's fun for you.

WoW's a nice polished and really shiny egg that is empty inside. Blizzard would put in update patches but they are too busy opening up new WoW departments around the world. Dollars and zerg as many suckers, I mean accounts, as you can before they find out WoW is really an empty shell of a game.
Interesting analogy. Personally I hope they both keep doing well. Competition and variety can only be good for consumers.
This also brings to mind a lot of the recent threads dealing with creating the perfect MMORPG. Of course they should all be trying to be great, but a single game can never be all things to all people. No matter what, people have different tastes and those tastes of course can also change.
Yea WOW gets boring after a few months. Maybe Battlegrounds will change that though
EQ2 on the otherhand sucked from the first day I played it.
I think Battlegrounds wouldn't change nothing. The ONLY thing that is needed is more content. The last content patch was released on 12-21-04. As stated on their "Features" page:
A dedicated live team will create a constant stream of new adventures to undertake, lands to explore, and monsters to vanquish. This content ensures that the game will never be the same from month to month, and will continue to offer new challenges and adventures for years to come.
59 days and their is no ETA on new content.
The way I see it, is that Blizzard is trying to make up for their lack of new content by implanting Battlegrounds, just to hold the players in a little longer.
If Blizzard wants to hold on to their players, they need to act fast NOW!
*hangs everyone who keeps bringing up these topics*
Its been established there are people who adamently like WoW, and people who similarly like EQ2. Stop bringing up the comparisons.
WoW is designed for casuals players who want to reach the top FAST. This have it pro and it con, but it have no room for any non-casual player. WoW make me
EQ2 is not for me, but I see a lot of very nice stuff in it. However I live in the ocean, so a garden may be extremely nice, it is still not a water breathing friendly environment!

WoW > EQ2 but both lack a real challenge.
Try Mourning when it releases.

If you're new to the whole mmorpg genre,I would recomend wow. It's more easy compared to eq2 and it's a great way to introduce you to into the ways of mmorpg. But when you reach level 25 give or take a few levels, you probably start to get a little bored.
When you do switch to everquest 2 but leave your wow account open because after a month of 2 you'll probably want to return to wow for a while. when you get bored with that wow switch back to eq 2,... .
You'll have no problem switching back and forth even if you've closed one of your accounts because all of your characters will be saved for about six months
Most sane people won't consider a grind a challenge, if that's what you mean by challenge. grind = boring
Planetside ? I just got swellowed directly into the world !

I have been playing WoW since release and so far it is great fun. I do hope soon they will add more content as when i reach 60 with my 2 chars I fear there will be nothing else to do. There maybe though I don't know until i get there. Eq2 I'm not gonna play unless WoW gets really boring and doesn't change.
