Nice UO  look to it.  Problem is let me guess:

This game will have great pve but pvp is a guild v guild or free for all with no strategic points ala castle building, territory capturing, and of course I can bet my paycheck - no seperate realms.  Pvp will = same races and classes beating each other up under different guild names.

    Am I correct?

I'm trying to help you out, based on what I've found out being outside of beta, if you don't mind. =D

It is definitely 3d. Also don't be fooled by the video promo they have on their website. it is not an action game at all. It has all the pacing of Ultima Online.
The guy asking apparently doesn't like Isometric games. =
Magic is very unique. You really have to think about when to use your magic. It is not something you can pump out with an endless supply of mana.
That's great to hear. Strategy ftw!

If you loved the complexities of Ultima games this is for you. Double click the spinner then click on the thread to spool it. Double click the hide then click on the stretching tanner to stretch it. Pick tomatoes. Double click the juicer, then click on the tomatoes to create tomato juice to drink.  All of these little things come with perfect sound effects. This remind me of the good old days of UO, where at anytime you can here someone in the forest working away...or in Britan where you can hear someone mixing potions..
    That's what I've heard. I can't wait to mess with it .^^

I have been in beta for 8 or so months and have yet to find one bug. I don't understand how, but maybe I am not challenging the game engine enough or not looking for them.
I heard that there were few bugs, but o_O, that's impressive.

The animations as I mentioned are the best in the business, even better than WoW, and that is saying a lot.
So the trailer seems to tell, heh.

The realm creation tool is as good as it gets. I created my realm last week and the number of tiles, walls, windows, etc is stunning. You make rocks, trees, rivers in your area. Heck there are sprites for furniture, bedrooms, beds, kitchens, etc.
I've heard rumors that it's difficult but getting fixed soon.

You have to understand one thing though, this is mixed medieval. The currency is regular dollar bills and there are things like sunglasses and jeans in the game. The sprites for creating my house had TVs, pool tables, lawn chairs etc. I personally like this because it flavors the game a bit. It is a different world, on another planet. Not the same Orcs and Goblns stuff we have been fed. This also shows in the monsters which are at times very bizzare.
Oh wow. That's awesome. Something new to experience. =D

Heck the environment is awesome. You can lure bees to follow you into a venus flytrap that grows each time you do so, making an attached plant grow and eventually offer up fruit..
    o_O

    It is endless...

I am not sure on the pvp aspect but I am sure they working on something. Guilds are not in the game yet.

Yeah the editor has a learning curve but after an hour I got used to it. It seems to have an issue with memory usage. But I was using it like 2 hours straight because it was addictive so I needed a break, I am sure it will be updated soon.

What's wrong with an isometric view? I've just been excited because the game looks to be quite customizable, so it's no wonder the people in beta are enjoying themselves.

There is nothing wrong with the isometric view, my problem is the 2D environment. I've tried many games which use that and I just can't get used to it...though I really wanted to. It kills the immersion for me if I can't look around a house freely, it makes me feel like i was playing on a piece of paper :P I know its only me, a lot of people has no problem with it. I wonder if u ever played a game like that ?

But donjn said its a 3D game, i hope he meant in the way i mean it :) I loved everything I've read about this game, I'm really looking forward to try it, but if it uses 2D environment that kills it for me :( And I'd love to know it for sure before I get too excited about this game :P

The game uses a 3d engine. I think what you are talking about is the ability to swing the camera round. In this game you can zoom in, and the sprites are 3d models, but the angle of the camera is fixed. Don't let this kill the game for you..

The best way to get invited is to sign up on the Linkrealms forums and post. Be involved. I am sure johnmatthais will most likely have a great shot at an invite soon because he has really been involved lately over there.

Thanks for your reply :) I'll definitely try it if I get the opportunity...but if it uses a 3D engine why don't they let us to rotate the camera :( Its like a 2D environment, where you cant see the back side of a house since its simply not drawn.

Not sure if I like the mixture of tech. (aka midevial/swords with TV's?) Sure its new, but so is cheese flavored ice cream, some things just don't mix.

Please check out my channel. I do gaming reviews, gaming related reviews & lets plays. Thanks!

Bad pvp aside once I saw the tvs and blue jeans I have moved on.  I hope it does bring some enjoyment to people otherwise.

I have been looking forward to this game as well until I heard this mix, for this exact reason.  I'll still give it a shot, but with less enthusiasm at this point.

This is exactly why all of you complain so much. You are too close minded. My goodness dont knock a game until you try it. If you told me a year ago I would really be enjoying an mmo that had TVs you can decorate your home with I would have thought you are nuts..

Raise the bar people, get out of that shell...

Let me answer some questions for everyone.

The game will not be mixed, many of those items were placeholders, and are being phased out currently.  The game will be STRICTLY mid-evil.

The OP said that beta might begin in the next two weeks.  This is a pretty optimistic view.  More invites will be going out soon, but I don't foresee this happening in the next two weeks.  The beta will be soon, I can't be more specific than that.

The view is top town isometric.  You can not rotate the camera a full 360%.

The best way to get into the beta is to stay active in the community, We pick the testers directly from our forums.

If there are any other questions or concerns, Most can be answered on the official forums, I will check back here to answer as many as possible though.

I'm normally not a grammar nazi, but I'm going to do a grammar intervention in this case.  I made the same mistake.  Mid-evil is not the spelling you are looking for.

What is going on with this game??? I just learned about it yesterday, and have been searching the net for about 5 hours trying to find some life in it..... The forums are locked so I cant create a forum account on their main website. Any news on this would be sweet.

    I remember about this...

People come, make a topic and some unaware people jump on it, only to find out there is no cake.

They wanted people to post on the forum, to make a community, but all without giving them access to the actual game.

Then people would post on their forum asking codes, just spamming. Noone cared about anything else, they just wanted in. The devs didnt wanted people in. It was a stalemate, noone would give a crap unless they got their code, many months later its the same waste of time and effort.

"Where is my god damn code? I made an account over an year ago." thats what you will get.

it looks A LOT like runescape.  the animations are near identical.

The players create the world. Each player actually builds a part of the map, and determines the rules for that area of the map.  They mailed me long ago allowing me in, but I have been too busy to mess with it further. If they can get it up and going, I think it would be nice. I think core issues though would be too many people building the map would also mean a ton of server space, and lots of glitches. I haven't followed up on it since, but really love the concept.
