All depends on what you like in a mmorpg really.

try everquest2.com and read the stuff about the races, skills, magic, etc. im sure it tells you enough, if it doesnt sound appealing dont buy it, if it does then get it. that is best advice i can give you, never let anyone else choose a game for you, because they are more than likely going to have different likes/dislikes.

If you dont have other choice then you are welcome to play EQ2.

This game is for refugees. EQ2 seeing you as a refugee and you start to play in the refugee camp on the Island of Refugee.

On the island, the merchant trying to rob you by selling more expensive stuffs and pay the lowest price than any other places. You can buy recipes from the merchant but the resources are mainly located in Qeynos zones. You are capped at crafting skill at level 52 and level 55, your artisan level is capped at level 9 with additional exp banked for 213%. Your adventurer level is capped at level 6 and banked like 135%?

    The animal on this island:

Shore crab, Sand crab, sabertooth shark, turtle, trigger fish, nefang fish, the sea boss is Baldin Shark.

On the island, you have sabertooth invader, sabertooth runt, guard, lookout, hunter, provider, brute, sentry, protector, magi. They are goblins.

The others like timber wolf, war wolf, spiders, snakes, bears, deers, bogs, inland badger, skeletons.

When you get tired of fighting those goblins then you need to go to Qeynos. You need to qualified yourself to be a citizen of Qeynos by completing a Citizenship quest. Once you left the refugee camp then you are not allowed to go back in because you are not refugee anymore.

If you don't complete the Citizenship quest then you are stuck at the gameplay. You are not allowed to advanced to next level.

Later, you will kill mostly animals more bears, wolfs, rats, snakes. And start torturing yourself. I do not like any quest in EQ2 and the class quest are the most annoying one because if yu dont do it then you are stuck in the game.

If you play other game you will hear have fun for you. If you play EQ2 then you will hear have pain for you. It means you have to pass through a long period of painful playing time to be happy.

Wow, I can't even respond to that.

larry before you try and post again, please please learn how to speak english. im not sure what that gibberish was that you wrote, but it made no sense AT ALL. i tried to make sense of it, but it was hurting my head.

    quote

"if you dont do it then you are stuck in the game" ???? im pretty sure you will still be in the game whether you complete it or not, unless you log out of course. no one is forcing you at gunpoint to stay logged in.

I am a jaded long time MMORPG player.  An Adult player, mind you.  I was pleasantly surprised by EQ2.  It is an good game.  Perfect? No.  But what game is?

I am on a RP server and found players much more mature on the whole.  I play a couple hours every other day or so, and I still have fun.

My best advice is to find out if any of your friends play it, and check it out on their rig (computer) if possible.  Me, I just rushed out to buy it when it launched.

    Good Luck

Eq2 has a ton of content so theres always something to do. They have made soloing easier so soloing is definitley an option these days. I would say give it a try because I have found it to be very entertaining.

Everquest 2 is a serious waste of your time and money, it starts off with a fairly good feel to it and quickly ends and turns into a boring game with no content. I Started playing everquest 2 since its release and 2 weeks after its release there were already level 50 people running around, i myself made it to 46 in no time.Thats not because i played the game alot its just rediculously easy. There are alot of quests in the game wich seems appealing but all they do is make you run from one side of the world and back ten times talking to guys with absolutely no thought, just time to keep you running so sony can pay the bills. The gear you get in the game you cant use for 10 levels after you get it, overflooded zones so you get to kill 1 monster every few minutes, dont let the instancing decieve you. There are very few areas in the game that are open, you have to do an access quest wich takes forever and is painfully boring to actually go anywhere and you have to hope people will help you do it because you cant solo them. If you cant find a group you might as well log off because soloing, tho its easy to do, is a waste of time because it takes 20 kills solo to get the same xp as you would killing one thing in a group.

Its a mindless unentertaining game set up to make you run back and forth for hours and hours in hopes that maybe this time the game starts to get good.....it never does.

Wait for some of the new up and coming games, they look appealing but dont waste your money on everquest 2 ......everquest is really the only game out worth playing that covers all aspects of what a game should be but sony has butchered the game to the point that you basicly cant start fresh on the game as a new player and because of the new wave of recent games nobody plays everquest anymore.....

LOL and people complain that EQ2 levelling is actually hard. Can you give us a link to this level 50s that appeared after 2 weeks because until you do its bull.Oasis first level 50 appeared over a month after servers opening.

Most regular players are still in their 30s.Granted some 24/7 players will hit the cap ina month but for most its 30s after nearly 3 months.

It's a fun game for me at least.

Cool: graphics, atmosphere, lots of quest content, lots of content in general, great complicated crafting system, good replayability by playing other faction.

Not-So-Cool: Grouping required for a lot of things, access quests required for some things, merchant selling system is poor.

In summary if you want a game which is relatively easy to advance in as a solo character, EQ2 is not the best choice. You can play solo, and they are adjusting it so that this is more viable, but you still make much better progress with a group. When you are in a good group, however, the game can be a lot of fun and you progress faster. Be sure to pay attention to the entire group and not to group with idiots, however, because EQ2 makes you share exp debt when any member of the group dies (to encourage people to watch out for other player's backs on not just themselves when they are in a group).

All its detractors aside, I have found it to be a fun game. Not a perfect game, but fun nonetheless.

Wow Eulogy. No content? You're trying to tell me you had nothing to do in the game? And where exactly were theses level 50's? I'm prettty sure it took people a little longer than two weeks to get there.

I would ignore people like eulogy-AD who registered like what 3 days ago and use their few posts to bash a game and come up with THEIR own facts.

Does EQ2 have issues yep it does and i can quote issues i have with every single mmorpg i played .

But is it a good mmorpg-Yes.

Is it the best ever mmorpg-not for me but to get the best mmorpg ever for me you have to time travel back to 2001 when EQ1 was pre-luclin and DAoC before the bots ran over it.

    Is EQ2 worth a try-certainly.

Let's see here. If you're actually level 46 already, what makes you think we'll believe that you actually took your time and tried the content?

Here's a tip: Take your time and do the QUESTS. No game has any content if you just powerlevel through the whole thing.

Yes, there is quest variety. Collection quests, Discovery quests, Instanced zones, prestiege quests, heritage quests, races, and all other sorts. People just get the blue quests from the NPCs in their starting ghetto and figure that that's all there is to the game. Try looking around a bit.

Zones aren't overflooded, different instances of the same zone are automatically added when the population gets too high. And yes, it does make a difference. When zones are as large as the main maps, you can easily go without seeing another player for quite a long time. And, if you're uncomfortable with the ammount of people in a dungeon zone, zone out and choose another instance. It's that simple.

Solo experience has been adjusted. Sony didn't intend to have you solo through the game. They've stated that Solo is meant to be a viable option for advancement, but a full group is still the best way to get experience. But hey, NEWS FLASH: If you want to solo through a whole game, why are you playing a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE game? There are plenty of other, single player games on the market that you can solo just fine.

Don't believe the naysayers, Everquest 2 is a great game. Give it a try and decide for yourself though. Maybe you can see all of these negative things in it that others do. Who knows?

This game is suffering the same fate is SWG. SOE has lost its way. SWG sucked EQ2 sucks, and EQ has been on a downhill trend since SoL. They must be proud of themselves.
