I just don't see what all the fuss is about?  We are americians!  You know damn well we all drive a lexus, have streets paved in gold and wipe are arses with $100 bills.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

Tormented echoes of a fallen Eden
    I longed for her beauty
    Yet from dust, she returned

That's how the rest of the world sees us and apparently we sail around in private yachts and all have a private airport in our backyards for our private jets made outta gold. No wonder the world think we're too arrogant for our own good...So many false rumors about the american populace...don't they know Only Donald Trump has a gold private jet?

If this is true, how does "the rest of the world" see Europe? Subscription prices for p2p games tend to be 20% higher (if localized). Box prizes for games often 30-40% higher. That's fine, obviously, since poor Americans wouldn't be willing to pay those prices, but I guess that must mean our streets are paved with gold and lined with diamonds, and we wipe our arses with €100 bills.

I think many of you are missing the point.  It really does not matter how much the item shop charges, unless the costs are ridiculously low, pvp will almost always be determined by who has the deeper pockets.

Who wants to play a game that is determined by real world wealth?  Not many of us.

  • CorruptedCorrupted Member Posts: 310

Those prices are just plain idiotic. They could've simply matched up prices to the other leading games but this shows how greedy they are, I think the hype got to their heads. Already with some of the popular F2P games out there, they are making more money then some of the leading P2P. Luckily I don't care because I think this game was crap from the get-go anyway but for those who like it, more power to you.

But that's what 99% of the "free" MMORPGs out there are like. He who pays more gets most. That's why I prefer subscription based games.

And I still think it's funny that a short time ago everyone was hyping Allods Online, saying it's better than many subscription games and that it's free on top. But when people said it's free I supposed they didn't plan on spending money on the game, and then for those people the prices in the shop are completly irrelevant.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

    I promise! :)

Man, I'm glad I wrote that. I was just griping at my friend about Allods today.

I played rappelz, another one of gpotato's games for over 3 years. Allods cash shop is the same if not worse than Rappelz. The Rappelz community as a whole in the USA (prices for the same stuff overseas is DRASTICALLY CHEAPER) has for years been complaining about the prices. They are plain highway robbery YET stupid people would rather pay that for a supposed F2P game rather than pay a sub. When I read that part on Allods forums from the GM about the prices and they will "over the coming weeks we will monitor blah blah blah" They arent going to do a god damned thing. Prices will stay the same and thats that. Hell, Gpotato even holds contests and "prizes for winners" in their games. Funny thing is they never send you the prize. There are 2 contests tha ended over 3 months ago a piece and gpotato staff wont even respond to threads with 10 pages in them asking who the winners were or anything...

Also be prepared for the worst forum moderation ive seen since Funcom. You murmer anything that doesnt praise the ground gpotato walks on.... find yourself banned...

Gpotato is one of the worst publishers in my memory...

    /sigh

Really is disappointing where they've gone with the cash shop in this game.  The whole perfume schtick and cost associated with gearing up your character is simply ridiculous.

Not to mention how overpriced some other items are.  Really is a shame since if the shop was handled properly I would definitely not have a problem with it or paying a sub to the game actually.  As it stands now it's just overkill that even with a reevaluation from them probably will be way over the top.

Well, guess I'll just stick to FE, DDO, and LotR for now.  More than enough gaming to tide me over in those anyhow.  Too bad though.  It is a fun game but I was afraid what might transpire with the cash shop.  Guess now I know.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

ha ha.   what do you expect?   this is Gpotato we are talking about.  it is the greediest most poorly run publisher in existence.  they will always find a way to screw over their players and ruin a potentially good game.  hell just look at their other games.  corum online has been running for almost 2 years now without updates or even a GM.  look at their forums.  people openly talking about duping items with no GM there to care.

This is an extreme measure for me, but I feel it is necessary. As of today I am boycotting logging into Allods until there is a proper response from gPotato.

    1) We the community do not want a "fluffy" response where you hedge your bets and do not take a position on what you will actually do.

    2) We want a definitive answer on measures you will take regarding the outrageous Cash Shop prices and the community's response to it.

    3) We want a definitive answer on how the Fear of Death will be removed, changed or kept the same and a response to the community's reaction. (I have made a good suggestion that solves FoD and so far it is favorably received by the community: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8792 )

    4) We want to know how Perfumes and other Cash Shop items won't be abused in PvP.

How this game has turned from something brilliant in CB4 to a steamy pile of turd droppings is beyond belief. Our trust and faith in gPotato and Astrum Nival has taken some serious beatings ever since the patch that implemented Fear of Death and PvP flagging. I and the community need some very strong reassurances or Allods will be deleted from our hard drives. We are committed to see some changes in the right direction instead of the wrong direction or we will drop this game like a hot gPotato !!

From browsing the various complaints it sounds like players would have to pony up $1 for every hour of PvP they wish to participate in and $13.50 for 10 hours of raid time. I don't have much experience with F2P games, but I definitely wouldn't open up my wallet at those prices.

"Who wants to play a game that's determined by real world wealth?"

Not me.  It don't think I'd play Scrabble, either, if my wealthier friends could just buy extra letters when they were losing.  It kind of... well, destroys the entire point of a GAME, doesn't it?

There we have it, a company even more greedier than SOE and Cryptic: Awesome.

  • maxebornmaxeborn Member Posts: 148

its a typical tactic of setting a bloated price then backing off /being haggled down by the community when the protests start  and still ending up with a higher higher price than people were be prepared to pay (but are content with now)if you just increased the price  a bit in a first place. nothing new its done with nerfs with every patch in every mmo

  • zelenzelen Member Posts: 2

    This game is not F2P.

It's open beta test for your money.

Astrum Nival (game developer) in the latest patch has introduced an hourly fee.

You can not play if you do not smoke.

    Price for 1 smokes (in Russia) - 6 cents per 30 min game, 1 hour 12 cents, 24 hour - 2,88 USD, 1 month - 86,4 USD.

I think gPotato will multiply these prices by 10 :)

Would I open my wallet to this?

    Not a chance.

For now i'm gonna stick around and see how things go. I had my hopes high but as usual they crashed & burned in the end. If they won't change a thing  then i'll just have to say goodbye to Allods. There is so much more to choose from.

  • HeretiqueHeretique Member RarePosts: 1,536

What you need to remember is they charge ridiculous prices in all there games (check each item mall) so the prices, to them, are reasonable. It won't change.

  • NetbratNetbrat Member UncommonPosts: 27

I will stick around and see what they do. I would spend $15-$20 or even more if the cash shop items where something permenant. $2 for a bag would be fine but not $20. Seems they are listening and they do have potential for a great game.

  • zelenzelen Member Posts: 2

For example, prices in the Russian item mall .

    Bag 24 slots - 1 USD

    Bag 30 slots - 3,3 USD

    Bag 36 slots - 31,8 USD

Pack of smokes - 1,33 USD

    Horse - 10 USD

Food for horses - 1,66 USD

I'm not sure that all Americans is the Lexus driver :) and maybe these prices have been more interesting for them.

Once this game posts it's profits vs support cost ratios you will see other MT companies looking at these prices with greedy eager eyes and then charging just the same.

They know, in the end, that you MTers just can't help yourselves when sat down at a trough full of virtual shines.

heh, you MT guys have made your own beds. Best lie down.
