I think that having "the world" as a mmorpg would be awsome. I mean they already have a base down for the gameplay in the PS2 games so all they really need to do is put it online...right?
first off why the hell was my original post deleted. i had a valid point. MMORPG's like EQ, DAOC WOW, UO. have all not historically sold all to well in japan. its just something about that market. So a .hack mmorpg might actually be tehr fisrt sucesful MMORPG there. Look at a good sales report that tells you which region sells blah blahblah copies.
Now what i ahve to say is this game better be damn good, because the hype meter on this will be larger then any previously known on this site. IT had better ahve some innovative features, EX Option to use VR goggles, COMPLTELLY ORIGINAL COMBAT SYSTEM(no not just renovating an old one like most "new" onesn are), it would need to have crafting added, very unique charcter creation (EX city of heroes cahracter creation), and you would also need to eliminate the feeling of grind, by making the game just funner to fight monsters in then any other game ever created. Part of this would be you could do more damage hitting head then heading arm or leg or something along the lines of that.

If you pay close attention to some of the text in .hack you can see that the game takes place in 2010. In the world of .hack the world is played as a virtual reality.
Oh man...if SWG could be a virtual reality...actually running around BEING my Jedi...
I probably would not play "The World" if there were one. Because Dot Hack is mostly a grind game. The plot is what kept me hooked, not the gameplay. By turning it into an MMO the plot is basically destroyed and it's just players trying to get the best weapon setups to beat one another, if PVP is even an option at all.
U guys forgot one thing about the world. A CRUDE version was launched in 2010, but it was updated so much to 2010 version does not even resemble the current world. that is pretty much what they say, for all we know the anime actually takes place in 2030 2040 or later or earlier. and the games take place after that.

docter... i am pretty sure they dont want a dot hack mmorpg...
they want a mmorpg based on thier mmorpg... not the anime
in the series the world was an amazingly massive game where you could choose what you could be... much diffrent from ours.. there you have unimaginable ammount of quests... guilds controll the game bassicly...and the game is bassicly run by the people... and not just left to rot... kind of completely anti to how all other games are run
and in the world you choose what you want to do... you dont have to follow the rules... you have a huge choice over what happens..
well i think a .hack mmorpg would be great. but i dont want it released until the VR tech is in place, and some of it already is check out www.edimensional.com but i would be much more interested in a OUTLAW STAR mmorpg. i thought anima was totally amazing, and teh variance of the combat styles blew me away. form the martial artists to the swordsmen, to the animal barbarian type fighters, to the slick gunfighters, to teh pure technology combatents, and then the magic. but i would love to see that because ti woudl ahve more variance then any game in history.

The rumors have to be false cause...there's no such thing as Cyber Connect Corporation (aka the infamous CC Corp) in the real world.
And in order for "The World" to exist, there has to be the CC Corp.
But I am currently working on a game loosely based on "The World", as of now tentatively scheduled for middle-late 2013. So be sure to check back here in about 7 years for info.
What I want to know is, if it was being made what the hell servers would they use to support the random feild generation? And the automatic expansion and all that? I think it is no more than random bullshit at the moment.
Also, if the world was a game it wouldn't have to be based around the .hack// series, as the events take place in the world with the world still functioning (and dying) all around them.
how would you get quests. i dont ever see quests on the show. there are special events. also there are only like two central cities so i dont think there would be very much diversity. take it or leave it but i think that that would have to be fixed.
ps. no server in the can produce a random map through three completly random servers
well wut i read on the internet is that they r comin out with a .hack game called the world and it it has everything lik the vertual reality helments, controllers and everything and it is comin out in japan in 6 years and here 9 so unless u can wait i would learn japanese and move to japan in a couple of years otherwise u will be waiting a long time unless u dont think 9 years is a long time.

The company that put out the .hack games for PS2 is called Cyber Connect 2, CC Corp is named off of them, and if they wanted to, it would be all to easy to change there name.
Interesting side note, 12/25/05 is when Pluto's Kiss happened

Well,In the first place- I don't think most MMORPGs have a plot, their mostly always changing.
Like...well "EQ", and besides no one said everything will be the same.pvp Is probly is an option including Player teams (parties)
Then again I'm explaining the way I think It's going to be, my opinion.

Will events mirror themselves in the real world?
RF Online|LostGrace-3x Cora Caster-Spirit Server-Active
Lineage 2|LostGrace-4x Elemental Summoner-Gustin Server-Deactivated, Kiltor-3x Elven Oracle-Gustin Server-Baned T_T
If the game do come out I wonder how much will it be for everything?
But if you think about it if hey can get it running it will be one of the top mmorpg
really sad this post is still on the first apge of the rumor room for me....
but anyway i think the world if it comes out will prolly come out on the PS3 in 2007
