Two questions.
1. I see GW2 is releasing. Will that have any impact on starting now?
2. There like a battlechest or something I can buy? Something that has all expansions and whatnot.
In between games right now and just looking for something to kill some time before I find something better.
Thanks.

GW2 won't be releasing for at least a year so there is plenty of time to play Guild Wars.
There are packaged deals out there for all of the campaigns. I'm not sure if EotN is included with those, you'll have to check. Go to the guild wars website to check in addition to vendors such as amazon.com.
Edit: It looks like amazon.com has the trilogy for $35
You can get Guild Wars Trilogy (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall) or you can get GOTY of Prophecies, or Prophecies + EotN..
I recommend getting the Trilogy if you plan on playing, it gives you three decent campaigns and plenty of options concerning PvP. Eye of the North is not necessarily required to play, it gives bonuses if you want to play GW2, adds some heroes and a ton of PvE content.
Just started the trial last night. It was too late so I only played for about an hour. It'll take more time to get a good feel for the game. It seemed alright, but I don't know. I think I'm just starting to get burnt out on MMOs.

It can take a while to get into. You just have to get used to the big changes from other mmos as GW is such a departure in mechanics compared to the standard mmo. Being burnt out on games doesn't help either though.
I actually came back to GW after a long stint playing WOW, Lotro, Eve Online, PotBS, etc. After those I realize how great GW is. Great, easy to learn but challenging ( like trying to squeeze a good build into 8 skill slots), minimal grind, and has the best PVP around imho. I tried the rest, came back to the best.
I found a cheap copy of the Game of the Year Edition at Target for under 10 dollars -- haven't cracked it open yet but they're out there.
This game is great, like the second or third best MMO I have ever played. I just started agian recently to try and get all the story lines done before GW2 hits, I want my stuff to float over
Great story, great art, great gameplay, and great pvp. This game has it all.

I'm stumped. What's PotBS? Thanks.
BTW, I bought the game nearly a year ago and my pc died before I had a chance to install it. Do a lot of people play it or have they went on to 'newer and better' things?
I just started playing after getting it a year ago and never really getting into it. I find I'm really enjoying myself and it seems that there are still a lot of active people on it.
oh and Potbs is "pirates of the burning sea"
1) Well, you will have a shorter time to finish the campaigns, but that's about it. Though if you do get the Eye of the North Expansion, you will be able to show off all your achievements with the hall of monuments, such as completed missions, titles, minis, heroes and so on.
2) Yes, they do have sets. I recently bought a set with all the three campaigns inside, though I had to buy Eye of the North seperately. Thoughl I have heard that you can get Prophesies (the first campaign) and Eye of the North together, though I would suggest you get the set with the three campaigns. Just in case you don't like a campaign, there would always be two others to entertain you. And the expansion you can get anytime.
A word of caution though; Eye of the North really is an expansion, so you would need to get one of the campaigns in order to play it. But each campaign is like a stand alone game, so for example, you wouldn't need to have Prophesies in order to play Fractions or Nightfall, which are the later two campaigns.
I would highly recommend Guild Wars though; it's my favourite game at the moment, and it's the game I have stuck to for the longest time, and I still keep coming back to it from time to time. What I really do like about the game though, is the strong storyline, and the very unique quests in the game, which differ from the usual Fedex quests we are all so used to in other games.
Main characters:
Jinn Gone Quiet (Guild Wars)
Princess Pudding (Guild Wars)
I went with Prophecies and EOTN. Its amazingly huge.
I really like that I can put it down when I need to work, and then come back to it without having to re-sub. GW was the final nail in the WoW coffin for me. Looks great, plays great, no Barrens Chat :-)

One man, a small pile of money, and the screwball idea of a DIY Indie MMORPG? Yep, that's him. ~sigh~

I see plenty of people in the major outposts. I think a lot of people play it as a secondary game. It's a great game in which you can play an hour or two (or even just 20 minutes or so). There is no pressure to play like you have in other mmos.
