It is really good to see that at least one company supports it's MMO the way it should be. Time for just releasing a MMO and then make an expansion every 2nd year are long gone. Turbine here sets a bar how MMOs are to be supported.

It would be cool if they make a expansion that focus most on the social side of lotro,

create social hubs, make crafting more complex , install new things to do but figthing.

At the moment you fight and craft and grind to be able to fight better, realy wonder if they could

create more interesting things to do with, puzzles and riddles :)

    I can´t disagree more.

On every patch we have only had the game becoming more easy-mode, more item-centric and more solo-friendly.

On every level recap we have only had less and less content, up to the present ridiculous situation where all the lvl 65 content has been reduced to:

ONE 6-man instance, so small that our last timed run was 19 minutes.

THREE 3-man instances, one of them so ridiculously small that it is ONE single room.

ONE 12-man raid with only 3 bosses.

    ONE very small new landscape.

A bunch of skirmishes that most players consider boring and repetitive and that are mainly old content recycled.

That is totaly the truth.  We got a rest to LI that made the grind worse.  T3 armor with stats that are worse than the t2 and t2 armor.  Only one zone,  one raid, and nothing but more grindy type instances calles skimishes that get so booring so fast.

I guess turbine has went the maintenance route with this game, they want you running the same old thing over and over. Easier for them to code.

I seen more and more I quit threads every day and watch them get pruned as quick as they can get to them.

Anybody who says this is the way xpacs should go really did not play the game,  you want to see an xpac take a look at sentenies fate for eq2,  now thats quality.

I thought sentenies fate  was getting bad reviews. I could be wrong though.

Well I can say I have been playing it every day,  I have seen entire guilds that have been vacant for gone for years come back to life. The interesting thing about it, is the fact that if the zone gest to heavy that  it creates alternate zones.  Today alone on nektulos server which is the of the smaller ones we had 5 versions of the zone up.   So if folks are hating it I am not sure why so many are playing.  I know that AB (antioni Bale) one of the bigger servers has had tons of issues with so many folks playing they have had multiple crashes. As far as our guild I have guilded no less that 20 folks in the past 3 days,  Thats more people than in the last year.  It sems more folks have come back to play this xpac than the last one.

I can say this the zones that we got som would have fit into 1/8th the size of the smallest zone.  The number of quests i know the xpac said over 400, we know for sure its around 800+ as our guild leader was able to look in his completed log and he had 815 completed as of this morning when he added all the new zones up.  I have yet to even try the battlezone portion yet, I have been talking my time leveling up all my alts.

The music seams to be the main gripe from almost everybody I have talked to there not impressed with it, and the big servers having stability issues.

--The way to fix housing in this game is to offer instanced houses IN THE CITIES. Period. A house in Bree, for example, close to vendors and crafting, would be great. It would not bother me at all to see other players entering "my house" only to go into their own instanced version of that house, while I go into mine.

--As for making Volume 1 soloable, that is the BEST news I've heard from LotRO/Turbine in a long, long time. It's about time. It's enough to make me renew my sub for this game. Frustration over my inability to find groups for the group portions of the epic quest line is why I quit this game a year or so ago.

Turbine has been doing this since Asheron's Call 1 released in 1999.  They are well known in the industry for this very thing.

That aside, as a lifetimer and beta tester, I am very concerned with the significant slow down in pace of the meat and potatoes content updates.  The first two years the updates came at a fast a furious pace, and for free, but since Mines of Moria, they have slowed to unacceptable levels IMO.  A poster above did a nice job of outlining what has come since MoM.  In fact, we received more significant content updates in the first 10 months of LOTRO than we have since.  This says a lot about the state of LOTRO when coupled with the admittance by the devs that none of that content released in the 10 months after initial release was in the works until after initial release.

The game is in it's third year and we have yet to get out of the first book of  the trilogy.  I don't think I am alone when I say that I thought we'd be much further along in the story at this point.  If I recall correctly, the projection in beta was to be near to, or in Moria by year 5.  At the pace the game is going currently, we'll be lucky to be there in 10.

Skirmishes were a nice addition to the game but become redundant very quickly.  It's the same event time after time, with maybe a small variations in mobs.

I am a big fan of this game.  I gave Turbine all the leeway in the world after MoM when the network problems were claimed to be the issue for slow release of new updates, but nearly a year and a half later and things have not really gotten better and I am starting to wonder what Turbine has planned for LOTRO.  The game really seems to have no direction and much of the content released as of late has been to fix or alter existing systems(i.e. combat damage revamp after MoM, LI revamp, mulitple MoM radiance instance revamps, radiance gear revamp, etc.)  The only landmass additions we've received are Lothlorien, which was supposed to ship with MOM, and Mirkwood which while nice, is not even as large as  the North Downs.

I know I sound like a whiner, and I really don't mean to come off that way because I do enjoy LOTRO, but something has changed at Turbine.  I care about this game and want it to find it's way back to it's former Shadows of Angmar glory, otherwise I would just walk away and not say anything.

In addition, I agree PvMP needs some love too.  I rarely if ever dabble in it, but it is a significant and popular part of the game.  Turbine needs to work on improving this part of the game, because honestly, the struggle between good and evil is an integral part of the LOTR universe and PvMP does and excellent job of translating that over into the virtual world.

    Lol, /rant.

Im a founder/lifer as well. Or I was.  I might have loged in 5 times in the past 2 months to pay maitenance on my housing.  You know it went bad when it chased me from turbine back to SOE, something I swore I would never ever do.  To be honest yes I think turbine has lost their way, its afloundering ship with no real leadership at the helm.

Ppl playing this game I think because they fan of lotr ... And they keep expecting 1 day turbine gonna make a good expansion and game become really good. There is lots of potential in the game because of very strong story anyway.

I am lotr fun also and I really tried hard to play game but I couldnt stand more then 6 months ...

The content u have too narrow and after mirkwood it became less ...

Legendary weapon system was making me play game more but after mirkwood they messed that also

Skirmishes all same ... get 1 banner then defend it for 6 times and its finish .. so boring lol ...

With new book, some new crafting options, new armors, new weapon yes ofc its good ...

Accept or not, ppl playing a game if they have chance to get something higher ...

When I left game ppl wasnt going even new mirkwood patch raid lol, I dont even know the name of it , stats of new armor there is worst then older gear options ... That is something unacceptable ... U went 5 lvls above and not 1 option to change 1 gear of u ... its so stupid ...

Probably nearly all hardcore players of this game have all their 9 lvl 65 chars now ... Grinding in this game is lvling new chars ... and turbine not gave any other option for now.

I dont want being all negative about this game, legendary system is something I see so unique ...

I think that can put this game between legends.

But turbine dev team must find way to extend it with some armors or even maybe all 6 slots should be used for different types of legendary gear ...

Well I know these I talking about little old but I little angry with dev team of turbine, they made me stop playing after mirkwood patch lol ... I was concentrated going raids, trying to get first age weapons etc. and was doing bounty quests to lvlup new weapons ... They messed everything with new patch and it lasted 2 days to lvlup 65 ... And I didnt wanted to lvlup new chars ...

I dont want to be all negative about game, I know I gonna try again at next "real" expansion ...

But dev team must think about this policy, they should invest on gear more, especially, the legendary system must be improved, maybe they must increase to 6 different gear types at 6 slots with even some +rad stats on them ... I know they want not seem like copy of other games especially like WOW and they have chance. Make that okens dropping from highest lvl raid available as a legendary gear or a legendary jewel or weapon so ppl gonna have concentration for all content in game.

I think I little flyed from high :)

    No DirectX 11 details?

I am enjoying Lotro still, though I am by no means an active player.

I have a few characters and only one at level 65 with no radiance items :(

I liked these suggestions mentioned below, you should send them a mail :)

    "Thats subjective , and no need to do any of that , just make furniture free to place anywhere and give us reason to visit the house ;

    -Wardrobes for clothes

-Racks for weapons we liked so we can display it

-slot -table tables for food , bookshelf’s and other furniture that can slot items we would like to keep

If they were clever they would design that we get stats from the house ,, for an instance having a bed +10 to moral because you are having a better sleep and getting better rest ,,, level 2 bed +20 moral etc

Having a food storage would give something like plus 5 min to duration .....

Having a painting of elf maiden could give +100 rep with Rivendell etc

I am just now giving silly examples without putting much thought into it but if you planned this well...

Housing could be very exciting and everyone would want to do it ,,, because

It would be useful, fun and have a reason to do it"

Actually, I think it's very nice that they made some completely different armour sets instead of just a better set.

It allows for more choice. Reducing the importance of radiance is also a great change for that reason: at the moment the only purpose of radiance is gating. Outside radiance-dependant raid instances non-raid gear might be a better choice.

I'm waiting for them to give some love to PvMP before I come back to the game.  It was by far the most fun I had in the game, but it seriously needs some attention, and expansion.

Pepsi was made 5 or 6 years After Coke, and Coke outsells Pepsi on a global scale.

    Good comparison though.

I don't see anything changing, more skirmishes, more bear hides, find him, find her etc etc.......*

I thought of going back.. reading .. reading.. people saying "I still enjoy LOTRO, but the grind is wearing me down considerably"

And still reading you dont need uber gear to do anything.. not that I am in to that.. would be cool to work for that.. but when its STILL years later and GRIND and no read good gear needed.. I'll pass. ME.. dont want it super easy like WOW.. yet .. grind is ok if fun.. pfffft..

Just try it again for one month or in one of the "welcome back weeks".

You'll see whether you like the game. You once played it, if you liked it then, you might still like it. Except for the size of the updates (which are considerably smaller nowadays) many things have improved.
