Recently I have started to meet a LOT of people who are out of work because they were recently laid off.
Are you unemployed? If so how long has it been?

Yes, a month. Only got to work at this last job for maybe 4 months before they laid me off...holiday help I am gathering. Prior to that, I was looking for employment for 5 months. Sucks to say the least.
I'm from Eastern Kentucky, so many people here are on some type of Welfare. Most people here are Lawyers or work odd jobs, like unlicensed electricians like my dad used to be.
Any change to the economy doesn't really hit us very hard, especially since the #1 way people earn money here is by suing one another.
Been out of work since November.....very hard to find work when you're living in the middle of nowhere in Sask, Canada. Unfortunately when you have no work, you also have no way to move to an area where there might be a better chance of finding some...

Note the arcing vomit from his nose... That's for the skinny girl jeans... But back to the employment thing. I've been working off and on for the past 6 months. Either working for an electrical contractor or when I can't find that I work for my relatives in a plumbing company. Problem is, even that's slow now. It's getting kinda depressing to be honest.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

My contract wasn't continued December 15th, 2008 when my old company was taken over. I was one of the few there on a temp-contract and the first (once again) to be kicked out.
Been without work since then, despite of great efforts to get back to work. Most heard excuse was that i "didn't fit the profile for the job". I think that comes basically down to "you're too old and too expensive" (thank you! I'm only 40)
To make things worse, since October last year I had (once again) a breakdown and am now on long-term sick-leave, and there's some light at the end of the tunnel, but it takes so slow to get there (waiting lists in psychiatry...)
Good thing I live in Holland and that we have a very good social security system...
When I come out of sick-leave, I still have 1 year of unemployment before I run out of income (well, have to sell my house and go to the real basics in social secutiry). But as long as I'm on sick-leave I don't have to worry about that...

Been unable to work since my last stroke back in 2005 thats when i fell down stairs and broke 3 disks in my back
so now i cant walk a block let alone stand for 8 hours

Yep, my body is all broke up from the work hump and other things. It's a long story. Right now i'm trying to find a way via games or writing books. I'm just trying to find a way. I'm a very lucky man.

I have been unemployed for about 7 months (laid off).
It's actually been ok though I've had to be a little careful in how I spend my money.

Um...ok. No shit it isn't new...for girls. But for guys? And I am only around 130lbs., so I could fit into them if I wanted, but I am not trying to look like a member of My chemical romance...or simply a guy light on my feet if you know what I mean.
regretablly.... unemployed +9 months, had a job back then, working in a graphic design company, had to let it go to due to not being good enough to work both full time work and full time college.
got out of college, B.A. degree, with honors Cum laude, straight out of the university right into no job.
only thing i am thankful for is that i have no debt, i dont know how i even pulled that off, but i thank my family for the support and wisdom ( beat downs) to spend my money carefully.
just currently right now, im jaded towards alot of things, and even considering doing some sort of odd job work to make a bit of money on the side. --- like selling kidneys
If you're playing Allods Online you'd need to just to afford anything in their CS lol
but yeah the Job market is low on stock.
I think this thread confirms that we are in no way "Recovering".

This thread is depressing......hope you all find jobs.... I know how you feel as I was out of work for 4 months until about 6 months ago.

I wouldn't mind the layoff so much if i could just find something decent to play. Take up some of this free time. Playing nothing atm.
Fortunately, my job can't afford to get rid of me, I work six days a week due to the fact we don't have enough people. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones..
