Yes, do all of the tutorials. They are immeasurably helpful.
Oh...
Be aware that there are more than just the asteroid belts you see in the systems that have asteroids in them!
Missions often have roids in them too, if you look for a guide on mission mining im sure you'll find them.
On top of that there are always 'hidden' exploration places that need scanning down that have asteroids in them too.
