I love people who are posting this...AV made the smartest move they could have by not restricting the trial to a tutorial island but also making it so hackers will be blacklisted since it requires a valid payment option to use.

I have to agree with this method simply because of the style of game that is Darkfall. One of the biggest draws back for offering free trials, which has been beaten to death, is the idea that hackers/gold spammers etc can flood the game with no consequence. If you can't pony up one dollar to try out a game for an entire week, then you should probably should prioritize your life a tad better.

I think it has more to do with not having confidence in the consumer rather than the product. Gold farmers, hackers, etc.

Looking forward to: FFXIV, Earthrise, The Secret World, Guild Wars 2 (very much), Project Copernicus (and Mercury for that matter), Everquest and Planetside Next (finally a meaningful mmofps again)
Wants to play in 2 years time if it survives from the subscriptions of fanatics and turns into the game with all features stated on the website: Mortal Online

thats what support and GM manpower are for. P2P games have that, P2P games arent afraid of giving free trials
oh ya, i forgot. Dark Fall is just P2P quality when it comes to charging. for the rest they are small,indie, poor them.

Ok lets not let this descend into an argument, the title of the thread is 'Darkfall finally offering a trial check it out.' Not free trial. I would happily pay $1 for a week as would many others but some wouldn't. It's all good.

An educated person would understand the limitations of sarcasm through text and be able to better express it. Then again, that would be assuming you weren't just covering your tracks with no real argument.
The dollar is to prevent hackers/spammers etc which has already been covered earlier. If you can name another MMO that hacking and cheating would directly affect the gameplay of everyone else on the server so drastically then it too should have the same trial restrictions.
You have posted six times in this thread alone for a product you wont pay for. We get the point. You can leave now.

Those who feel the need to flame a Darkfall post are those who hide in their bathroom alone and afraid.
I don't play the game because I'm too much of a carebear, but I'm man enough to admit it.
Congrats to the Dev.'s for feeling confident enough about the stability of their game to provide a trial. All free trials shoud require the same kind of committment.
It's funny that some of you actually believe the goldsellers are the reason for this, MMO's get loads of goldsellers with or without trial accounts so I really doubt that is the reason. It's just an easy way to make an extra buck. Nothing more, nothing less.

Did you even bother to read the responses or the main thread about this posted by mmorpg staff? They make virtually nothing off the dollar being charged due to transaction fees and the like, yet clearly that nickel per dollar is getting them rich quick.
It's not so much gold selling being targeted as it is hacking and cheating with a traceable source. More accountability for stupidity is never a bad thing, at least to me.

Make money? Really? How much do you think it costs them in worker hours, transaction fees, paperwork etc. Lets try to keep some perspective on this people, it's a buck! If anything, call it a marketing ploy to get new customers but they're certainly not going to get all blingy on $1.
