No.
I can safely say with absolute certainty no. The system is completely different from FFXI plus they mentioned this in one early interview that you will not be able to transfer. At best I can see them doing name reservations based on your FFXI character names, but I wouldn't even hold my breath for that.
just wondering why in gods nameowuld you want to transfer a fully leveled character into a brand new game? i never understood why people (especially in MMOs where it has never been done) that you would be able to bring your maxed/pimped out character into a game thats different, even if its a sequal? thats like saying "hey can i transfer cloud into ff8...they are both called final fantasy"
what would be the point? you would skip everything that there is about an MMO, mainly leveling. You would not know the world, lore, comabt system, skills,weapons..ect ...its like taking a save game with capped out characters at the sephiroth fight in FF7....whats the point? you missed out on the whole experience.
sorry if i got a bit ragey there but it just bugs me when people keep asking this...just seems to make no sence.

they already said no
The answer to this question is simple. Somewhere along the line *cough* WoW *cough*, the mmo genre became less about the path/journey of leveling your character, and more about just rushing to end game to get your "pimped out character".
I recall in ffxi that it took me 6+ months to hit level 75 (played at ps2 release) and I played pretty hardcore too. Now god forbid if a game takes longer than a month to get to max, the forums would be ablaze with people throwing a fit about such a long grind. Its only a grind because they dont care about the content/journey/path they just want "phat loot".
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI
Took me roughly 3 months to hit 60 on WoW Pre-bc. That was with me playing every single day, then again I was enjoying the game not rushing to max my toon out from the get go, it was a nice improvement just coming out from FFXI, which took me far too long to hit 75 lol
i think he didnt mean a maxed out character, but something more along the lines of transferring a name or likeness from 11 to 14.
Answer is no.
What he said
thank you for the response.. my first mmo i ever played was everquest online adventures for the ps2. Then people quit playing that and migrated to FFXI. So I picked up FFXI for my ps2. It was great but then square enix stopped supporting it for consoles. I'm glad that since FFXIII is comming out for both consoles it wont get shelved anytime soon. And yes to the posters above I'm glad there not able to take the characters from FFXI to the new one.. it would be really stupid if that happened..... I'd rather it just start over from the beginning just like any other mmo. ty for answers is apprecated/
