    $1

    One dollar

    A buck

Make money? Really? How much do you think it costs them in worker hours, transaction fees, paperwork etc. Lets try to keep some perspective on this people, it's a buck! If anything, call it a marketing ploy to get new customers but they're certainly not going to get all blingy on $1.

He did say an extra buck. So he was being accurate :)

Oh really? Then answer my question:

How much do you think it costs them in worker hours, transaction fees, paperwork etc.?

Do you guys have ANY idea how much it costs to process accounts and things like that? I do, I was in business and I can tell you this, they're taking a LOSS from doing this. Their hope is that they'll GAIN profits from an expanded customer base. It's called ADVERTISING and MARKETING. I mean, give me a break. The fees for using credit cards takes a chunk out of that $1 too. To say they're greedy and charging just to make money is a joke.

    Look into it.

guess you can call me Hypocrite

You have posted six times in this thread alone for a product you wont pay for. We get the point. You can leave now.

I have posted six times (seven now) to people directly addressing me, not to the topic nor the product. Actually I intended to leave the thread six times (seven now).

I'm not saying it makes them rich, just saying that it lessens the cost for them to hold trials. It's to get some money from those that want to try the game. As you guys are saying "it's just a buck!", yup just a buck, not much and I have no problem with it... just as spammers, hackers, goldsellers etc won't have a problem with it.

I'm not bashing the game or the guys behind the game, trials are great to get more subscribers, this way they at least get a part (or whole, no idea) of the cost back.

Thinking it will stop those that ruin the game is just naive, sorry.

It costs them MORE than $1 per activation to give that offer! It costs THEM money. The greed argument = FAIL.

And you know what, if you haven't tried out EVE's free trial go try it and see how many gold spammers you see because of the free offer, it's a pathetic joke. I'd rather have people who are serious about trying the game than a bunch of gold spam which $1 transactions will protect against.

It seems you live in that magical world then in which only games with trials have massive amounts of gold spammers.

However about that first sentense of yours; do you mean it costs them money to get that dollar/euro or do you mean that the total cost of having trialists (extra server capacity etc) AND the money transfer cost is more than that dollar/euro? If it's the first then I am in doubt why they even thought of this weird contraption since it costs them to have less trialists and does not help against gold spam and the like. If it's the second than I stand by my words, it lessens the cost of giving the trial option.

Btw I am not using the word greed for a reason: a small company that is trying something outside the box has a harder time getting a good cashflow so I have nothing against it. I just don't believe for a second that it will stop the gold spammers and such.

I love people who are posting this...AV made the smartest move they could have by not restricting the trial to a tutorial island but also making it so hackers will be blacklisted since it requires a valid payment option to use.

Sorry that they care about their current player-base kthx bye.

nope, AV's smartest move was charging people at release without trial nor refunds. because they care about their player base

actually they care so MUCH that it makes me retch.

    kthnxbye

Your obviously retarded: The one dollar is so if your CC is banned you can't get on and so Vets can't make 10 alts to harvest for a free week.

Great security measure in my opinion. Keeps all the chat room annoyances to a minimum.
