i just downloaded the client via bittorent, but now it says its patching 10042408 kb, so did i do something wrong? because its ggonna take like a day

it's the test to determine whether or not you're hardcore enough for the game
one does not just walk into Darkfall...
First off are you EU or US? Second, what is the link you downloaded the client from?

my question would be, is it correct to be downloading a 10 gig patch?
and i downloaded the one from their sitte, via bittorent, the u american one
Yes. lots of improvements have been made, and there are a TON more features and things coming in 2010. Think of the patcher as a present. It will make you happy in the long run

I certainly hope not. I'm downloading the bittorent version now, too. I'd really hate to experience a 10gb patch. Lol.
it was a 6.94 gig download, now a 10 gig update? im not hating, i just would really like to play

The patch after installing the 7gb (compressed) download should be extremely small.
Try a re-install?
Takes 5mins to update. You aren't downloading a patch, you are validating the files first then the patch. The patch is not 10gigs....
Unless you didn't download the game and just downloaded the client (possible) which would require you to download the entire game through the patcher.

Not a bad thing. It let's me have time to think about what kind of race I'm going to be. Whichever one is the cutest. I will also have the most totally ridiculous name in Darkfall, because I like that. I'm all about the cute names. I guess that will make me a huge target, but I'm into S&M (Shhh.. don't tell), so I guess I can take it.
It's been awhile, so I don't remember.
But try extracting them. It doesn't hurt (unless you don't have enough HD space).
Aventurine's side does say something like: " We suggest you download the game first" so... :þ
Wish they'd update the installer a little though, it is quite annoying to download a 10gb patch.
i can reassure you tht its not validating, i see the download size, the transfer rate etc , im going to install one more time, i downloaded the 7gig one , im sure of it
problem fixed ( hopefuly ) reinstalling, and doing something new, decompressing the files , guessing thats what was missing , meaning, a 3 gig patch?
Patch after installing the client from the torrent should only be 600kb.

Hint - After installing Darkfall, open the setup again and perform a repair. Mine didn't fully install the first time.
