Comon square! give us a bone here and let us nibble on a tid bit more of info, its been ages since an actual update to anything, especially the website!!!
Clearly the lack of information proves this game will be a failure.
lol. it is information that adds clarity. failure remains to be seen. agree w/ OP... even if the vana-fest is on the 28th, more info has surfaced about the old republic more than this game and starwar set for 2011.

lol when has SE ever been easygoing with info? for gods sake all we knew about this game up until E3 09 (likely 1 year before release) was that it was an MMO codenamed "rapture" made by SE.....thats it. SE has always been very hush hush on all their games and to this day they rarely dissapoint (and i mean IN HOUSE SE games, not everyting they produce)
On the other hand this doesnt build up major hype just to let us down. people were getting tons on SWTOR thinking they were getting it this year, just to find out its gunna be another 6+ months now. Saving hype until you know its a generally solid release window is better then having all the info and not being able to play for 2 more years.
It is called building Hype, The longest they have waited since new info has come out is 8 weeks, It has been 8 weeks now but it is confirmed that there is some kind of big information coming out during Vanafest which starts Feb 28th. Not sure if we will get new info on day one or day 2 or 3 or however long it lasts, but know that we are getting the information we have probably been waiting for soon enough.

And here i thought the retardation of the classes and races have already sealed its fate.

For me this is true... Just because I put on some scrubs and a mask (at halloween or any other time) doesn't make me proficient in patient treatment and healthcare, yet from what I'm reading this is EXACTLY how 'classes' will work in FFXIV... I'll pass.
you know in ff11 that you changed classes by a moogle spinning around and casting magic on you lol. so how in the hell is putting on diffrent equipment in 14 to change jobs so bad?
I remember the days in between patches for FFXI. Nobody had any idea what was going to happen, and when they finally released something it was either vague or had little info about anything else. .
I don't know why they even operate a NA site, the JPN site gets all the news first. When it comes to feedback or communication we are always totally ignored over here, they address the press over there all the time and game changes are a result of JPN players/press.
IMO i don't really care about any early news,i just hope to try the game before i buy it,because i will probably carry two accounts.Square really scares me because they are becoming more and more interested in other developers methods, example microtransactions, casual game play similar to WOW.So in other words,Square is becoming MUCH more concerned with subscriptions than game quality,FFXI was quality and the game grabbed players with literally no PR/marketing.
Square should stick to be totally unique/creative and use marketing to grab subs.I know it is not their style but maybe even make FAKE scripted videos like Blizzard does ,seemed to work for them.Who knows maybe Square is not looking at the NA demographic at all, after all there is a VERY small player base over here, where as the Chineese/JPN gaming market has grown incredibly while NA's has fallen.
I expect 300k NA's and 1-1.5 million total sales of FFXIV.The NA player base is full of game hoppers ,mostly WOW types or PVP types,so the maintained NA player base will be very small, probably around 150k,and FFXIV will maintain about 500-700k in total.FFXIV will further maintain subs by adding in housing and PVP down the road.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

true... i hate getting overly hyped to be let down, but i'd like a little more news than this to keep my interest. this game is suppose to be released this year (right??? unless somethings changed). i hardly check this forum cause i know SE's really slow and vague, but no news in the last 6ish months is pretty underwhelming. makes me wonder if they'll delay release. most of the threads here r "what u want to change... or stay." im sitting on my hands here > <' don't wanna spoil the surprises that will awe me, but i don't wanna lose interest.

This is true, putting on scrubs and mask would not make you a doctor. However, it would help you with mending a patient. You must still level your "doctor" skills up to become a better doctor (think med-school / residency). The reason that you switch into the appropriate gear is because having a great axe with you isn't going to help you heal them, but having a mask and scrubs on may increase your abiltiy to heal by stopping infection and other diseases ( why do you think doctors wear these things irl? ).

Well said, I know I was all over the SWTOR forums in 08 when the game was announced.

No. Everyone knows the failure of a game is directly proportional to the amount of hype it has.

SE are slow at releasing info, better that doing what warhammer did releasing a crap load of info and 90% of it not being implemented into the game.
March on! - Lets Invade Pekopon
please inform me of how this proves that the game is a failure?

Why bother asking the troll.
Clearly lack of information didn't stop FFXI from being sucessful.
