btw, love the help, frendliness, gettin hped about it more
Shut up idiot, don't you know that the Darkfall community is the worst in the history of any MMO, ever, ever , EVER?
/sarcasm off
Lol.... I laugh at all the morons, trolls, and haters calling our community horrible, mean, and pathetic. In reality, this is one of the best if not THE best communities I have ever played with on an MMO.
In reality, this is one of the best if not THE best communities I have ever played with on an MMO.
I agree wholeheartedly.
It is indeed rather comical at times to see some of the negative comments leveled towards the community as a whole, when those of us who actually play the game know all too well just how top-notch the DF community is (generally speaking).
This is one of the main reasons that I prefer sandboxes to themeparks, due to the fact that these types of games only appeal to a certain niche of individuals, which in turn often keeps many of the pessimists away from the game.
Obviously there are the exceptions, as there are in any game, but all in all the DF community is extremely solid.
Actually, to be fair I think the animosity stems from how DFO players treat people outside of their community, not how they treat each other.
You can't deny there is a fair amount of elitism amoung the hardcore-PvP, "instancing is only used by developers specally to piss me off" crowd that DFO caters to, and a lot of just visous bile directed at players who dare allow themselves to enjoy anything else.
THAT is what people are refering to when bashing the DFO community.
That said it's very encouraging to see how well... encouraging... the DFO community seems to be to those of us who have been (understandably) reluctant to try DFO who are now ready to jump on this $1 trial offer.
I would ask those who spent over 5000 hours in WoW the same question. :P It's been explained why, but I haven't even had time to try Darkfall yet.

Well, two things in response to this.
One, for the most part the people that post on forums do not represent the community as a whole. The majority of people that play games DO NOT post on forums, and thus what people say on forums can't be used to gauge how the actual community is, especially on a non-official site of the game. I'll say it again, the Darkfall community IN GAME is by far one of the best, if not the best, communities I have ever been a part of, and the fact that this is the case in a competitive, full loot, free for all PvP game speaks volumes.
Two, can you blame some people for being so defensive and vocal in regards to Darkfall? We had to deal with the "vaporware" and "Dark and Light" trolls for so damn long, thread after thread after thread after thread after thread, and even now, after Darkfall has been out for an entire year, we still have to deal with pathetic trolls who have obviously never played the game for a single second, and just love to spew nonsense that is not factual, straight up lies, or just the spewage of nonsense posted SPECIFICALLY to piss the Darkfall players off.
Either way, I see your point, and there are some Darkfall supporters on here that can be a little bit too rude, but in all honesty, if someone is going to post some nonsense that completely misrepresents the game I play or is so pathetically illogical that it's obvious it's being posted to incite flames, then yes, I will beat the shit out of you in a discussion on here and talk down to you like the little crying, pathetic piece of shit you are (not you, but you know what I mean).
Is there actually ppl paying to try a game? I mean, how stupid can people be? lol Warcraft had a trial on stores for $1,5 but what the heck, it was to pay the DVD in wich it came...
I think we shall see more of this . Charging a nominal fee keeps the spammers at bay .

Meh. It's a dollar. Even if I end up hating it, a week of Darkfall is a better use of a dollar than these nasty powdered doughnuts I just got out of the vending machine.

after i downlaoded the 5 hour client it only took me about 14min to patch, no joke. however did you get an eu accoutn even though you are in na? this will help a lot

Like any PvP oriented full loot game it harbors the best of the best and the worst of the worst. Eve, AC(Darktide), and UO where/are the same way.
Best kind of communities imo, they always lead to the deepest friendships and rivalries. Not to mention you end up with a lot more interesting stories at the end of the day.

It's a dollar for a potential 168 hours of entertainment. I spent $12(not counting food and drink) to watch a crap ass movie the other night that lasted less than two hours.
I don't think it is downloading 10 gigabytes of data. I think it is patching 10 gigabytes of data. Know what I mean?
It is simultaneously downloading instructions and data from the patch server, and updating the data that's already on your computer. At least, I think that's what it's doing.
You can't use the tools if you don't know they exist... http://www.ic3.gov - Internet Crime Complaint Center - Report cyber crimes to the FBI.
If anyone elese has this issue (and yes I'm sure the vets know all of this already): It happened to me and what turned out to be going on is that the data files wheren't decompressing properly using the US installer. After someone else suggested using the EU version I came up with the following fix:
1) Run the US installer. (You will get the error message)
2) Run the EU Installer. (Files should decompress properly, you'll be able to tell)
3) Find your Darkfall and Darkfall US directories (usually in Program Files or Program Files (x86)
4) Go to the Darkfalldata and copy all of the .sfad files.
5) Paste these files in to Darkfall USdata overwriting if prompted.
it's the test to determine whether or not you're hardcore enough for the game one does not just walk into Darkfall...
HAHA good one
I had no problems at all, the extraction took alot of time tho. No error and it sure didnt patch for 10gig that is for sure, then there is something wrong. patch is max 2gig if even that much i didnt check since patching went in like 5-10 min.
You guys have a walk in the park now, when Darkfall was first launched we had some difficultys you could not imagine (still nightmares about that nuff said:P).
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009..... In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.

I think my computer cant read .sfad files, what can i do?
it gives me a error when trying to install, after clicking darkfall ,eror decompressing cant read dfdata_0000 , pretty sure it downloaded correctly
