I tried the demo for a few days and I absolutely love it!!! I was told Cryptic offered life time subscription, but I could not find it on their website. Any idea??

It would appear you are a bit late I think. A Post said it ended August 31st of 2009 and following links on Google lead me to a page on Champions Online that no longer exists. I'm sorry, friend.

I was a lifetime subscriber but sold mines on Ebay because the game has unbalanced PvP, major nerf, don't feel like a Super Hero, devs don't care, etc.

But if this is your taste of tea, then if you are still interested, keep an eye out on Ebay for Champion Lifetime account. I sold mines for $225 f.y.i.

I got a lifetime sub and basically didn't play it at all after the first 6 weeks. The game was a mess, balance was all over the place, things were being nerfed to hell and back, and if you didn't have exactly the right kind of build it didn't matter how you played you'd be out-damaged and out-defended by even basic mobs. It was pretty dire really and after those 6 weeks my patience ran out.

However, I loaded it up again a couple of weeks ago to see what, if anything, had changed and against all expectations it's pulled me right back in.  Combat seems much more tactical than it used to be, balance between powers is much better (in PvE at least, I can't be bothered with MMO PvP, it's always lame IMO) and the whole thing just plays loads better than it did after launch.

As I said, I've not played or even followed the game for a while so I have no idea what they've tweaked and patched so I can't speculate on what they've done right. Maybe just taking a break and coming back with a fresh perspective is all it is, i don't know. What I do know though is that I'm loving CO right now and am finding myself really looking forward to the time I get to play it.

There's a lot of hate for this game and it's entirely understandable, Cryptic made a giant balls of up of it and manage to make a lot of people angry, but it's not all bad. So, OP, get a box (you can probably get it cheap now) and do a couple of months and see how it goes.

It's really a lot better than you'd think from all the negativity you read about it.

    Short summary of my EXPERIENCE:

Well .. id like to say that i was just  like the usual newcomer, all hyped up and excited about this game. Being a superhero, but

it all went sortve downhill, after me an my partner made over three 40's each.  Mind you we didnt ever rush, We have done everything on the game so far and now there isnt nothing at all left to do.

Oh yeah sure there are endgame content but its too repetitive and it eventually got boring in a space of 4 months.

even though Vibora bay (Revelation) expansion is coming out FREE (thanks to Daeke) it wont pull many gamers to it.

    i can bet on that.

ohh ohh!!! and  dont let me get started on the C-store

    -----------------------

    WHAT I RECOMMEND:

If your a BIG superhero fan then id recommend  getting it , try it out for 30 days first!

To be honest. DO NOT get a lifetime sub until you are ABSOLUTELY SURE on what you are buying.

i havent read much of the posts here so i apolgise if anything has already been said.

    --------------------------

    FORUMS:

On a last note.. the Gamers on the Cryptic forum (for Champions online) think that know it all, as if they think that they are DEVs themselves. maybe im going to far but..

Ive seen MANY players and newcomers ask a simple question/vented out their opinions on there, and get flamed.

*if you dont like it the Leave* sort of thing, is that anyway to speak to a newcomer?

Try to ask a question to a DEV then a wannabe DEV would answer it.

ALSO they also back themselves up so its really 50 forum ppl Vs 1.

But yah. its best to just  'ask a question' on the Champions forums for an answer. then brace yourself lol
