Soloing as a Priest

Any Priest afficionados out there? If so, I am looking for some suggestions on how to more effectively solo as a Holy-specced priest. I am currently only level 14, and am finding it increasingly difficult to do any 'kill' based quests without asking for help. Now I'm not against grouping by any means, but lately I feel like I'm totally dependent on others to get anything done.

I've read comments on other forums by players who have said they have successfully and easily soloed Holy priests to high levels--how is this done?

I know I could just cop out and go with a Shadow-specced priest, but I figure that if I do that, I might as well just be a mage =))

Thanks folks

The priest was my first class in WoW and I didn't find it difficult to solo with him. It might be difficult compared to other classes but I didn't have anything to compare with then. What you gotta know is the limitations of the class and then modify your playing style to fit it.

Priests will not take out multiple mobs in a solo fight so you gotta work on pulling and finding safe areas between spawns. You also gotta accept that you have to run from mobs often, as you get practice you will get better at avoiding those situations. Generally you will have to fight lower level mobs and do easier quests than other classes at the same level. The good thing is that the experience hit for doing lower elvel stuff isn't that big in WoW, - so if you are trying to do the same quests at the same levels as your other toons you are in for a lot of frustration. Accept what you can and cannot do.

While leveling I would never heal myself in combat - if you have to do that you are doing something you shouldn't. I almost never used my wand/mace instead I just nuked until the mob was dead with the occasional pw:s in harder fights (bring water and lots of it).

Holy spec is just as good or maybe even better than shadow for soloing until around level40. The talent that changes the balance is shadowform and around the same time the damage in the holy line will start to lack the punch it had in the earlier levels. Improved smite will help you a lot - it is a very good talent and the reason holy priests will outdamage shadow priests early on.

One thing I have to add is that I leveled with the old version of mind soothe. Without a doubt that nerf has hit solo priests hard.

becouse of the ability to respec i still belive its much better to level as shadowpriest

you heal allmost as well as holy priests.. ive been mistaken for that when i dont throw my mindflay... the diffrence in soloing isnt Shadowform, its Mindflay, from lvl 20 youl see a huge diffrence from holy priest to shadow priest(whom just got it).. becouse mindflay has VERY good dpm(damage per mana)

yes, its hard to lvl it, but once 36+ as shadow you start doing.. (shadowform raises dmg but its not a big change.. its few spells more)

anyhow.. hard to solo as holy priest, and there's just not enough groups now to level fast at this way

    im Drunklight! *hic*

Bah... level up to level 40 as a Shadow Priest, pay 1 gold, give up all Shadow talents and convert to Holy and become a Holy Priest. :)

You can always pay 5 Gold afterwards if you ever wanna go back to Shadow Priest anyways... by Level 40 it's easy to make 5+ gold per day.

also quick tip for lvl with priest. before u start lvling ask for a mage around your  area to conjurne u some higher lvl water. like a lvl 30 water gives over 1200 mana if i remeber. by doing this u can u mass amounts of mana, like a mage does and still lvl fast.
