Some of us are seasoned to understand the concept of games like this and how it is meant to be played. MO isn't for everyone and those who cannot grasp it are free to leave. Plenty of others can see the game for what it is and what it can and hopefully will be. When you craft your first tungsteel 2h and kill someone with it then come talk to me about knowing about the game. Until then you are just like the rest of the sheep who pass by. Fun times for us "seasoned" players.

In my opinion there is no game.  There are some half finished systems that are lumped together in a Unreal Engine generated world.   In my opinion it has a TON of work to go before it can be called a sandbox.  Sandbox does not equal unfinished game with no content, but if this is your cup of tea.. more power to you.  Different strokes for different folks.

Apparently you never played Shadowbane. What kind of content are you asking for? Shadowbane had cities with merchants NO QUESTS, and minor drops. The best gear was crafted and the ONLY thing to do in game was PVP and burn down cities. Mortal Online mirrors this with a much nicer engine a more engaging environment and some interesting aspects (mounted combat, flagging system, taming, very indepth crafting system).

Poor choice of example, we all know how SB turned out, lets hope MO does a better job than that, but so far, I don't see it.

Why do they have to be mutually exclusive? Why can't a person be a fanboy and a skeptic? If you truly care about the quality of something and you want it to succeed, you will be open and constructive. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong?

ROFL... Shadowbane had the greatest on paper design of any game I have played.   It was doomed by shoddy programming (sb.exe errors... or the precursor to MOs nowgame.exe), and horrendous lag.   Shadowbane had an order of magnitude higher amount of camps and mobs in game.  The higher camps became one of the main purposes for wars as control of the camps enabled leveling for that nation or alliance.  It was also designed to allow easy world building.. so each server could be unique and play on it's own map and with it's own ruleset.

Wolfpack also realized that they needed to further incentivise PvP so they introduced resource nodes which needed to be fought for.   At it's heart though, SB was about the ability to siege...    Without the ability to build real cities that give you benefits and subsequently fight for and siege those cities,  I think MO pales in comparison... which really says something when the game it pales to was actually a failed game in and of itself (although one of my all-time favorites)...

Also keep in mind that SB had a noob island where people could learn the game in peace.. it had safe cities where people could get a respite and find people to group with.. it also had the runes that dropped for character improvement which also added an additional resource for people to fight over.

So.. while I know that I played Shadowbane extensively... I'm not too sure about you as you seem to have played a vastly different game than I did..

While I have no reason to explain my YEARS I spent playing SB I highly doubt you spent that much time considering you mention a lot of things that caused them issues during around launch that eventually got ironed out (sb.exe, most lag). Also camps never became the precursor to war you are very mistaken. Even at the chaos gate I was able to keep a full group there for hours at a time. Resource nodes didn't even cause much war other then a battle. Also while you claim SB had safe cities , yes they did and they was just as safe as any blue city you will find in MO. The only place that was completly safe was noobie island. Sounds like a the typical person using google to help them sound more legit IMO. Before you claim to know what SB offers make sure to crosscheck your wikipedia sources.

Shadowbane was built on the concept of building character and world pvp, The game shined by the numerous builds and ways to build characters. The only thing the differs between MO and Shadowbane is the character creation. They are both based on the same concept of "PLAY TO CRUSH".

I got a warning for "trolling" for using the word fanboy and tried to point out that the title of this thread has it in it.

I lol at what is considered trolling.

I dont even know how I can comment anymore with the the way warnings are issued (which change from day to day and hour to hour)

-I guess all I can say is that if you are in doubt, try the OB...It speaks for itself. It is not very good. it is very , very bad..

To make sure this is considered "constructive" I will add. SV could fix this by hiring real programmers and fire the mod team currently making this game.

ROFL.. you want to compare SB credentials?  Gimme a break.  I tested it and played it for a long time.  It remains to this day one of my favorite games... but was a horridly flawed (in programming) game.   That said.. MO can't hold a candle to SB.  If you think so... that's your perogative, but MO has more in common with Planetside than it does with Shadowbane.
