Cool! I'm still a little weary about this game. It all seems to have popped up out of nowhere, and asked for pre-orders before anyone even knew what it was.

The new website is vastly superior to the old one, though, and it does appear they are doing some work. I wonder how far along the game is?

I agree.  It's rise into noteriety has been fairly quick.  Not sure if I can trust on that with all of the information on the site as to what is being offered up in game play.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

I never heard of the game but I learned 1 thing: Never EVER believe the hype about a mmorpg and pre-order it. Wait till after it comes out and people say if it sucks or if its any good. Would have saved myself the money from buying that POS Aion if I followed this insted of biting onto the hype.

"An MMORPG could be completely diffirent from WoW. Just look at games like Dofus, Wizard101 or EVE. But as it is, most of the Western MMOs are trying to succeed by out-WoWing WoW. It's like an army of 10 sports games made about same sports, and barely none about other sports. WoW clone is an accurate description of those games, it manages to convey much information with only two words."

I guess well see what happens next month. Yes it did come out of nowhere but its a smart plan, how long was DF considered vaporware I'm sure they lost a ton of potential players because they just lost interest after 7 or so years.   If this game has the stuff it says it has then that would be awesome, and I would like to believe them but I've been let down before and don't want that again.  I can't even trust most AAA studios now days let alone some studio that announced a game about 2 months before release.

You definitely have to give them props for taking a bold approach, but I guess what I'm saying is people are used to seeing at least some mention of a game being in development, even if that mention is in the deepest recesses of limbo.

Why do all Sandbox MMOs besides EVE look so f'en ugly?

This game sounds sweet and it launches on my 18th birthday

I spent some time looking around on their site and to my amazement I didn't find anything that would be an absolute deal breaker for me.  Hmm, I'm so used to being a curmudgeon I'm not sure if I even know how to be positive about a game anymore.

Only two things worry me a little.

    1.  How well their combat system will work out.  Sounds like it's a twitchy sort of thing.

    2.  It looks like you'll pretty much have to join a guild and I assume guilds will be the usual sort of thing where you end up with one asshole as dictator for life and there's nothing you can do about it except leave the guild or kiss his arse.  I really wish someone would come up with a guild system besides just this thing where you have to basically become the property of another player.

Still, it has definately caught my interest.  Of course I won't pre-order.  I'll wait and see what people say about it.  If the combat is ok and there aren't any other major problems I suppose I could endure living under a dictatorship.

Um, so that was me trying to be positive.  I know, I know...I'm out of practice.

MMORPG.com should add a cautionary note regarding pre-ordering. Not a lot of information out there on this company.

Can they do that? Seems it's ultimately up to the user as to whether or not they buy the game. Having the community managers police games for potential theft seems like a big job to me.

    Hi Neanderthal!

The combat is twitch based with manual blocking.

With the current system yes, joining a guild is required. However, a few people have asked for solo and it may be implimented at a later date xsyon.com/forums/6-general-discussion/504-soloable

You bring up a good point about dictator..i do not know if there is an "over throw" option. Would be good question for someone to ask.

I checked out the forum. . seems some people have had issues with the pre-order. . charged but no confirmation.  The features seems great but the art style is not my thing.

I would also think that coming out late into public view with a pre-order option and the name "Notorious Games" might get a few people spooked :)

I find it very weird I have not heard of this game before but I am still very excited about its release I hope it goes well.

True, there have been some hiccups with the payments since it has only just been implemented but they are getting sorted with a day or 2.

Anyone that has had a problem ordering can confirm that they have had prompt responses.

  • AethaerynAethaeryn Member RarePosts: 3,150

No intention to fear monger on my part.  there are always hiccups.  Actually the art style is not that important of the gameplay is solid.  I love the theme of the game.  I will follow up. . I will just never pre-order anything again.  I hope the launch goes well.  I will check the game out for sure.

Is it too soon to start calling games "Fallen Earth clones" like the rampant "WoW clone" accusations?  ;)

  • StratfordStratford Member CommonPosts: 112

    Ugh.

Look in their "About" section.  "Xsyon is Educational" they say, then they proceed to offer evidence to the contrary.  I'm sorry, but calling this (or any MMORPG I've ever seen)  "educational" is misunderstood pandering at best, and downright deceptive and fallacious at worst.

Seriously, can anybody reliable confirm it is not a scam?

    1.  I agree that it's not MMORPG's responsibility to warn about the game possibly being a scam.
    2. What does being indie have to do with it?  Indie doesn't guarantee low quality, nor is it synonymous with a lack of professionalism.  KingsIsle Entertainment is indie and they delivered a quality, polished product for a niche audience in just about 3 years.  They've been huge successful, too.  Sparkplay Media is  indie, professional and, from the look of things, is going to be quite successful, as well.

    Agree.

Interesting how most of the programmers come from Novosibirsk, Russia - (Siberia).

Not to say that is a good or bad thing - but the word scam is coming to mind on the pre-order of a product that doesn't have access to ONE SINGLE VIDEO on youtube or elsewhere (that I can find).  Checking their forums I saw as well no video.  I don't trust this thing one bit.  I have never seen so many promises made on an mmorpg and we have all seen a ton (Vanguard, Conan, Warhammer, to name a few).

If anyone has any luck with the pre-order and gets in game - lets hope you can (a) post something positive here because if the game is 25% of what they say it is - it's the best sandbox mmorpg of all time (b) somehow convince us that you are not working for the company as a PR person lol.

I wish this game were real - it really sounds amazing.

Looks like a good sandbox style game, and finally one that doesn't force players down the path of open pvp/free loot. It doesn't look like they are trying to be too ambitious with the launch either, so it might turn out to be a solid game. I like the idea of a totally player driven quest system, and a chat system where you actually have to contact people through the mail system (no more blind whispers from halfway across the game world).

  • dirtysidedirtyside Member UncommonPosts: 153

ok............ how is this the top hyped game now ??? lol

  • VyntVynt Member UncommonPosts: 757

It looks interesting, but after reading their forums, I'm starting to think it is a scam. In one topic, someone points out that their EULA says CCP. They basically copy/pasted the eula from eve, lol. Quite a few things that just don't seem right, but guess we'll find out next month. Definitely don't preorder though, heh.
