ya I have to agree with alot of what he said but where I differ is I enjoy whats there enough to wait and see how the game grows over the long term.

Good review. Pretty accurate.
Somehow gamespot have been very negative toward STO from the very beginning. I read a review a few days ago and that also gave STO like 40 of possible 100 score and was amazingly (or should I say refreshingly) objective (read negative).
I'm only sorry I didn't read that review before wasting my money. ;-)

Couldn't say it any better. Just like every movie has it's craptacular game that isn't worth the money, well looks like Cryptic wanted to do the same thing but on an assumption of gaining more revenue.

This gentleman from GameSpot was another capable of offering an honest unabashed review of this game, whithout trying to be sneakily in breaking down his review into hardcore and casual as mmorpg.com has; again, this game appeals as badly to casual as it does to hardcore gamers.
In the reviewers paraphrased words, this game offers the bare minimum and is an unexciting mess of bland and disappointing game-play.
There's a lot of people who won't be getting cards from Cryptic this year. But that's OK, I've crossed them off of my gift basket list.
Good review. I have to admit, reviewing Star Trek Online would be a nightmare for him to manage to review the game so well shows quite a lot of work on Gamespot. I've always trusted Gamespot's reviews of a game. They generally tend to be pretty "Spot" on.

Oh no, another bad review, can people just let it go for Pete's sake and let the people playing it play it in peace. Every day, left and right, Cryptic sucks, STO is nothing compared to EVE, CO sucks, blah, blah, blah.
I'm sick of it, stop posting so much hate and go play your own game and post on your own game forums!

Actually it's part of the job for Gamespot to review the game. Seems a little silly to get mad at reviewers for doing their job =P. And as far as the review goes, he didn't say anything bad about the company at all. C'mon, relax. If you want to change the flow of the forums, consider posting the positive things about STO and I'm sure people will follow!

I myself don't play the game, lack of money, but even if I did, posting the positives would only get people in here slamming me for it. And I'm not trying to say I dislike that Gamespot is posting a review, I'm hating how every single negative review HAS to be posted on these forums so other people can see the 4235 review and continue to slam the game and fuel their trolling ways.

such is life...every game has good and bad review's and i normally dont listen to someone that gets paid to play games and review them cuz really they are like the rest of us. constantly judging games on that one game we all once played that was the shit & the negativity flows in as u play said game and it doesnt make the grade. i usually let myself be the judge. not a bunch of haters that cant keep their attention on something for more than a few days or hours.
i play sto casually and i like it , i dont think it was a waste of my money at all, i know ive wasted money on worse games tho. i am really curious and anxious to see where they go from here.
i know im not the only one

Not sure what to tell you, friend. People come here to discuss all types of things. That includes negative things. It's just something you will have to learn to accept. Denying people their voice would be like stifling them of air.

Gamespot usually have and fair reviews.
The main problem here is that Cryptic just didn't spent enough time on this game, releasing a game with very little content is usually a disaster.
There is a reason for the fact that all successful MMO took 5 years or more to make, to patch in most of the game is rarely something that works.
I hope they won't do the same thing with Neverwinter nights online, an experienced company like Cryptic should have known better than doing this with STO and doing the same thing again is madness. Let a MMO have enough content and few bugs before even thinking about releasing it.

De Nile isn't just a river in Egypt.
They did it to CO and then they did it to STO. Magic 8-Ball says: Outlook not so good.
Problem is Cryptic didn't just make a bad mmo. They made a bad game using the Star Trek IP and on top of that tried to pass it off as an MMO.
Realistically you can't expect people not to react to such a well known and loved IP being crapped on.
