There are a lot of people really excited about this game.  If they follow through and have all the features they have listed, it should turn out to be pretty popular.  Even when this game was just a post in the Pub section, it was a pretty popular thread :)  Should explain the hype.

So many people just pre ordered the scam, too many naive ppl on this world.

My take on it? Well, the problem I see is this game appeared out of nothing, so there was no way for any hype to be generated. Hype can only be generated if we have at least something to know about it before hand. Even a name, or a screenshot or two. Xsyon had neither. Instead, it appears no less than a month ago and promises to be out by April.

We shall see what comes of it.

He's also the same idiot that trolls all the Mortal Online sucks posts because he bought "that" game as well, only to get into beta late, not block A wahh wahhh. Felt let down by the game he payed for because he can't believe a game in beta can be so awful and rip people off.
This is the same old story i've seen countless times. Davmac22 and all the other lemmings will be flaming thing game as well in 3 months or so when the money they've spent is found to have funded another game that, in their opinions, failed to deliver.
Sorry Davmac22, dont take it personal.

Well if a game lists info that they dont put into the game correctly, they should be flamed.

Im not agreeing with the hype and stuff, Im more of a wait to see type thing. Just saying that the info isnt out yet, so we dont know.

who are you to say its a scam?

This is an indie company... it doesnt have big bucks behind it... a small, passionate group of peeps who love making games... pre-orders for them gives the company extra cash that is needed.. be it for advertisement, server upgrades or whatever it is...

Plus, its the users choice... the people who preorder im sure understand this...

'SCAM omg' Stay away..... dont jump to conclusions.

I don't know I just still find it weird that their name is Notorious games, they have no video, I could make the screenshots in any 3d editing program, and they copied the TOS from eve.

I really really hope it isn't one though, this game would be amazing.

well, I am hesitant towards this game since there hasn't been any publicity around it and it is an indy game. the description of the game sounds too good to be true, but haven't we heard that before of other titles, all from big companies to small. then again, the developers describe in their forum the reason for the low publicity - and the fact that mmorpg has had the info since a while back.

wait and see. it's only a month left to launch.

It's absolutely a paid beta, IMO. In one post, Virtus says:

If I understand things correctly, pre-ordering gets you into Prelude and (room permitting) a bit of closed beta before that. But Prelude itself is for all intents and purposes an open beta of the game.

No, Prelude is the beginning chapter of Xsyon. It will be the time where people come together to form tribes, build towns and explore the world before all the other events start to occur. It is a time where you will not have to worry too much about what might happen to you or your village while you are away.

You are not paying for beta access. You are, however, pre-ordering for the game which comes with 2 free months, and a free in game item of your choosing.

Because you are pre-ordering, as thanks, we are allowing pre-orders into the server early, first come first serve basis.

But in the next post he says:

Being that there is no NDA, are there any beta testers that can attest to all these features. Like many I'm tempted to preorder.

Currently, no, all testing is done in house. There should be some going in around mid march though.

These comments are consistent with what I've seen from Xsyon, too.

Generally speaking, beta testing isn't done by the development team.  It's supposed to be when the game is exposed to players outside the team.  There has been no opportunity, to the best of my knowledge, for the general public to get into the "closed beta".  The only chance to do so is to preorder the game, which equates to "paid beta", IMO.

That being said, Virtus has made a more recent post:

currently it is in house testing. Next a small group of players will be going in followed closely by the pre-orders.

So, maybe they've reconsidered their stance on letting the general public into beta without having to preorder?  I'm looking forward to details on this possibility.

The thing is, there is no logical reason to preorder. A teenage male who buys into hype in the absence of proof (video, player comments, previews, etc) with complete disregard for history will most certainly buy it. Which means THAT will be the beta testing and feedback the game will build from.
