Allods Online: Revised Item Shop Prices Unveiled

MikeBMikeB Community ManagerAdministrator RarePosts: 6,555

Earlier this week gPotato announced that they would be addressing player concerns over item shop prices by introducing a new revised item shop later in the week. The new item shop prices are now available, and they appear to be pretty reasonable.

Check out the new prices below:

Vial of Perfume reduced from 75gP to 25gP

Large Perfume Kit reduced from 1350gP to 300gP

Holy Rune reduced from 1500gP to 1000gP

Rough Dragon Hide Backpack reduced from 2000gP to 600gP

Small Deposit Box reduced from 1500gP to 1000gP

Small Bag of Crystal Chips reduced from 250gP to 100gP

Medium Bag of Crystal Chips reduced from 1200gP to 350gP

Potions reduced from 250gP to 200gP

For those unfamiliar with the cost of gPotatoes (the game's item shop currency), the ridiculous $20 for the 24 slot bag (+6 slots) has been reduced to $6 while Perfume costs have been reduced from the previous $13.50 for a batch of 20 to $3.

View the original announcement here.

Sounds reasonable to me. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.

Now that's what we're talking about, prices in an item mall shouldn't be nearly close to a monthly fee price ($15), otherwise it defeats the purpose of seeking a "F2P" game to play (talking from the view point of someone that actually spends money in games).

What about the $6,000 or $7,000 (don't remember the exact price, I have trouble counting numbers above $15 when talking about virtual items, so excuse me for my ignorance about the exact price) high-end rune or whatever that was?

Don't be fooled by the price reductions. While some are reasonable, a lot of people are too quick to jump on the bandwagon of "omg gPotato is listening to us!".

Have some foresight and do some math, and you'll realize that 3 hours worth of the perfume buff (so 3 hours of mass pvp or heroic instancing where the perfumes will definitely be necessary) a night, for 30 days, will run you approximately $30.

Thats already twice the cost of a subscription fee of a p2p game, not adding in costs for vanity items or the upcoming mounts which are also pay-by-the-hour for full effectiveness, and a patch that boosts the need for perfumes even further.

I've said this so many times, but I'll say it again. The cash shop prices were never the problem. The Fear of Death and the necessity of Perfumes are the problem. Remove Fear of Death, make Perfumes give you a bonus to XP or something, and just move on.

Really, I want to like this game, but I can't when they add things to the game that make it necessary to use the cash shop. I *love* cash shops, especially if there's cute, pretty or sexy outfits to buy, but I refuse to buy something in the game that is a necessity. I know I can get a 1-3 Perfumes from a daily quest, but it's not enough considering you are ganked over and over because of the FFA PvP.

agree 100% they need to remove FoD and for christ sake make some patches that IMPROVE the game and not make it worst...i wanna play this game because is polished original and fun but...the game  win a  bad reputation and is only the open beta ...and i feel the same as some guy say in another post, they could decrease cash shop items but increase mob dmg  and FoD effect in the next patch

i just gonna wait and see if the game gets better and  win a decent player base...because i hear russian servers are low population now

It takes time to fix all of the problems for people. They finally fixed the CS, why can't you be happy about that? I dont even use the CS and I'm happy about it. Now, FoD can get annoying I'm sure if you die a lot, but really it's never annoyed me that much. I'm sure it gets worse in the higher levels, but even if they do you don't have to spend money in the CS. There will always be people selling CS items in the auction house.

The "Fix" isn't really a fix. It's like using gum to reattach a severed head. It's impractical, and it doesn't work.

    *sigh* I hate analogies...

And yes this is a "fix" for the CS. The CS was outrageously priced, so they "fixed" it. And it will stay that way, unlike a head attached by gum. The FoD mechanic isn't too crazy as long as you're a patient person. I'm sure it will get annoying when you're doing a raid and you're FoD just runs up the time you have, but that juist brings me back to the point that you don't have to spend any money in this game. It's a damn good F2P, if you don't like it then just gtfo.

These are my exact thoughts when we talk about a F2P model.  I do like the F2P model but not w/ this FoD, "problem" - as I consider this to be a problem with this game.  A F2P game should be good enough that you can play it with out major debuffs, such as reduced stats, and only pay money for buffed stats.  A F2P game should be good enough that it entices you to spend money on the game for the extras and that's where your profit comes from.

    Just my 2 cents

Take it one fix at a time. The cs rates are indeed much better. Now we'll wait and see if they are going to implement more perfume usage or change the fod in the next patch or two. For the best outcome (for them as well as us), they should reduce the fod and have the perfume give a boost that way they could make money (the way they want to) and the players could actually benefit from the dreaded perfume.

This most likely won't happen, but I can hope for the moment : )

Omg this forum has WAYYY too many drama queens. The price shop is dead on and fits standard player time. If your actually (good) if you fail and die constantly then you need to be penalized get f'ing better stop failing. I'm up to level 35 and Fod is pussy to say the least not even a bother. You can basically wait it out use a perfume THAT you have loads of without the shop by then. Or use gold buy mryth and get out of it. I see alot of wah wah wah who didnt even actually get that far. And listening to even more complaining ass russians who are drama queening even harder on the QQ band wagon and its not that serious. Look I'm gonna end the QQ train right here because i'm tired of looking at it frankly.

Fod of some sort is in EVERY game like this here's some examples mainstream. Wow has it but it takes the form of when you die by your armor takes durability loss. Also you can pay rez at the cost of loss of stats AND massive breakage to your armor. All of that is far more costly actually in wow then allod. But the difference is wow is pay and allod is free. This also is in place to stop pvp zergathons that would happen if thier wasnt any penalty for dying. And it also encourages incredibly bad pvp and pve players to zerg thier way to fame. Which is the main thing crashing and burning wow now in its battleground system. So why the holy hell would allod have NO system in place to stop bad play and zerging. That would be just bad business and lack of progression and common sense.

Another example is Aion you die you lose exp (which is annoying when your 50 and dont need it anyway) and you get a multiplier debuff that gets longer each death unless you pay out of it. Sound familiar huh really familiar huh? Again what that does is stop bad players from feeling the need to just be bad and constantly run out and zerg. It's been in these games for years I can spam this post to hell with games that do the exact samething. The only thing gpotatoe did was try to pull a fast one over pricing. Had they not everything been fine now. And some of you make me chuckle wanting a major anti bad player component removed. You dont get anything in good games for free. You dont like fear of death systems here's a hint PLAY BETTER be more cautious. Don't go all Leroy Kenkins at a group of 6 people trying to get a kill. Then wanna come here and complain because its costing you too much to die.

    So easy for gpotato.

First they make a fuzz with their price settings, that they probably know is to high, and then they make another buzz by lowering the price as its supposed to. Two easy and cheap buzzes :)

Some people like to live in self denial mode.  The point being that the game is unplayable without cash shop items.  If you can't figure that out I feel sorry for you.

ok let me keep this really short,..first i think we should take the advice of others on this forum and just leave this game, i think ALLODS will be very empty withought us,We all really want this game to be good, and be a good F2P game,..i for one am willing to pay money for really cool gear and mounts, and while you can do quests for the perfumes, they should not be offered in the item mall, nothing should be offered in the item mall unless it is unneeded ,i personaly was excited about this game because i thought i would be able to easily play this game and buy cool looking armor or clothes, a mount, a house,..and not pay anything else till they come out with something else cool , but instead the things that are offered are things that are required, and to further there goal of makeing Micro transactions REQURED they are increasing the halth of the mobs, while you are probably saying,..oh well the mobs were easy anyways,i will say, all of the thingsthey are doing are geared to FORCE you to buy these things, or at least make it really really hard to live withought, so in the future look forward to a very dificult game that is only slightly above the quality of most F2P game, and i am sure they looked at many diferant studiestaht show people are willing to use item malls but they are pushing the envelope too far, if they succeed they will be put in with successfull business models if you really want a great F2P game that really does it right go play Mabinogi or perfect world,so just quit this game so every designer will be able to sight this as a bad example, thank you for your time,..lets see if this gets taken down for trolling again

There is no doubt this game will not last long, the game was great when I beta tested it... but the amount of dollars you NEED to spend is many times higher then a P2P game. Some people dont mind that I know, then again I also know the amount of those people will not be enough to make a nice crowded world for a mmorpg ;)
