Do not buy this game. You will regret it dearly as so many others have done. Most of the EQ1 gamers are now playing other games.

And I also refuse to support a game anymore where its all about money. When SOE creates a game where they are thinking about the players then I might have a look at it. Sorry Im lying, I will never again buy anything from SOE. They have screwed up all their earlier games and they will screw this one as well. They added a great new feature some days for those who like to Roleplay. The command was /pizza which leads you to Pizza the Hut.

One day you will stand in front of a bell to transport you somewhere. And when you select it its name will be Taco Bell I promise you. Would you play a game like that?

SOE are into EQ2 for the money, and not for your experience. I played EQ2 since the release and it was awesome in the beginning. But after a while I just stopped logging on, because of boredom and lack of freedom in this game.

Just look at the facts. The game costs 50$ buy and 15$ a month to play. the game is not finished at all. There are tons of bugs and nerfs and shit.

You can have 4 characters, if you want 8 you will have to pay. *greed*

Soe have planned Adventure packs which gives you access to new areas, items etc. This will cost an additional xx$ to get. No these are not expansions. I wonder after those adventure packs comes, whats gonna happen. Imagine a team looking for members shouting "LFM Adventure pack 23 - Healer pref" Those without adventure packs cant join. And in this game its already superhard to find good teams.

Play World of Warcraft if you wanna have fun. If you wanna get robbed play Everquest 2

Screw SOE, I will never buy a game from them again

Oh i forgot to mention this

Soe should add the /blizzard code ingame to lead you to the better game. Hell they even admitted that World of Warcraft was a better product.

Right play WoW where they can't get there shit together long enough to keep thier servers up. Play WoW where all their time is spent figuring out how to get their heads out of thier collective asses so they can maybe figure out why their servers suck so bad.

I'm getting really sick of clueless people mindless bashing something that obvioulsy don't understand. It's really not that hard, so I'll spell it out again:

I play EQ2 for $5.50 a month, you play WoW for $15 a month. Hmm who's all about the money now? Not only do I play EQ2 for $5.50 a month, but I get all the expansion packs for free (more on this later) and I get 8 character slots. I also play EQ1, SWG, and Planetside, for $5.50 a month each. All together I pay $22 a month to play 4, that's F O U R, MMO's. You pay $15 to play one, when the servers are up long enough for you to play it at all. Now who's all about the money?

In EQ2 patches have been flying out. Fixing this or that balancing everything, WoW: Still working on the servers. EQ2 has already put out new content that didn't cost an extra penny. WoW: Still working on the servers.

Adventure packs: Right, I understand how you must feel. I mean it would suck to have a company actually add huge areas on top of the ones that come with patches. It's much better that they spend thier time and my money figuring out how to let me play a game I am paying for without waiting in an hour line.

If you never type /pizza you'll never know it's there. It ruins your experence, don't use it. I'm happy it's there. It's part of what makes SOE able to give me F O U R MMO's for $5.50 each.

Yeah this post is a little harsh, just sick of the clueless people in the world.

Well first off I play on Bloodscalp european server. I have never experienced any problems with the servers since launch here. The problems you mention was something that was happening on release of the game. Want to know why? Because so god damn many people bought it that it totally wrecked their lines. Yes Blizzard games are popular because they are g.o.o.d

Hooray for you! Let me see you play EQ1, a wrecked game by SOE, Planetside also destroyed by SOE, SWG I won't even mention, what a dung of pile it had potential but guess who screwed that up. And now you play EQ2? Another game going down the drain according to the EQ2 forums lately. Congrats you play four fucked up games while the rest of the world plays one good game. Well cant blame them, they know what quality games and fun is about don' they?

Patches in EQ2 you say? Im not sure what game you are playing but I left EQ2 because of those nerf patches and many did that with me, I played a game called EQ2 since release that I had high expectations for. Now I play something else. Every patch SOE have released have been warned about on the test servers (the players) but still they dont listen. Every patch have broken something except the warlocks and Mages the last patch. But then they put in the extravagant thing to Attune all your items. Seriously C'mon do you like that? So when you are in a guild and get new equipment you cannot hand down the chain the armor you once wore. Nope you have to sell it like vendor trash?? Every friggin little thing that you wear is attuned to you. And that awesome Pristine armor you paid with blood, sweat and tears is worth nothing!!! Good patch SOE. The players really needed that one. Not to mention the solo players after lvl 20, there are no solo players and dont give me the crap about "mmo's are group games", they are not for a large mass of the players. And solo after 30 is non existant. Even finding a team is very hard and dont give me more craps about guilds. And on top of that I feel sorry for the crafters in EQ2. Poor bastards.

When I left Everquest 2 my guild of 34 players were never online! 2 logged on during the last day I played. You cant beat that.

World of Warcraft patches are rare. since europe release I have not experienced one patch. I feel that the classes are well balance for PvP, each having their own ups and downs and trust me I know their ups and downs. I play a druid which most seem to be broken and I love it. No nerfs in WoW so far. I will let you know if you want to.

You have obviously no idea what you are talking about. Why do you think SOE are creating Adventure packs? To give you access to new areas and weapons? No way mister. They are doing it to create extra cash to fill in the deadspace between expansions. Well have fun with your private little access to that new zone. I prefer to access zones through full expansions. Not a single cave that gives me access to a single sword or a armor. I will play battleground fighting Alliance head to head when you are retrieving your shard and getting aggroed throug walls by flying fish so that you can get experience debt to work of in a day or 2.

Im happy for you that you can order pizza. When I actually think about it that must be the only upside with that game. Maybe I should activate my account so I can have a cool bookmark for Pizza "the" Hut orders, naah I dont wont to do that since I doubt they will deliver pizza here in oslo, norway.

Get real, I did, many did, more will do it. EQ2 will be a deserted game after a while. Along with SWG, planetside and EQ1.

    Cya

Here! Watch a video of our first guildraid in World of Warcraft while you have that pizza break.

You know I had this long post arguing with your points, but then I remembered my original reason was to prove how stupid it is to bash SOE for their station access and Adventure Packs, I've done that (proven by the fact that you had to totally change your complaints) so my work here is done.

You go on with your other WoW fanboi's, and play with all the L337 Dooodz!!!!111!!!1! and enjoy yourself with the simple, instant gratification game, and I'll stick with a game that when I make a level I feel like I've accomplished something. A game where you can't craft pretty much by accident, you actually have to think about it and plan.

    Well have fun pizza boy.

I was a EQ2 fanboy like you once upon a time. Now I just read the forums there to laugh at the people who whine like hell cause of the nerfs

  • superhero13superhero13 Member Posts: 170

EQ2 is terrible. The xp debt. The fun but waaaay to troublesome crafting system. Killing the same mob 1000s of times. Hardly any variety. The slooooooow xp grind. The lack of innovation.

I was the biggest EQ fanboi before EQ2. This was going to be the holy grail.

It fell flat on its face.

BTW Ive played WoW...if I had leveled up with my frields I might still be playing it...but since I didnt, soloing up (while not that hard) is boring as hell too.

    Result? Both suck.

alright, I am sick for a few days and they all come out of the woodwork? It looks like the WoW official forum has moved here.

WoW patches are rare? <chuckles> Most american players will tell they you don't even exhist! Anyways, I am not even getting into this rediculous discussion anymore then that. WoW players, get over it, if the game has scored so great then there is ZERO reason for you to have to sit here and flame EQ 2 when obviously it doesn't matter its such an insignificant game anyways. ::::12::

Dude, that screencap is horrible looking, talk about making a game look bad! Also, this thread was about EQ II, quit being a tool and hijacking threads cause you can't handle capitalism.

God for this life of me i still can't understand why some people take comments made against a game that they play as a personal insult... All this EQ2 vs WOW is total bull.

Both games have a lot going for them, but the original poster was asking about EQ2 NOT WOW. I played EQ2 for a few months before cancelling my sub. It was my first MMO and simply wasn't for me, but it has a lot of good points going for it and someone else may enjoy thier time within the game more than i did.

The world is both detailed and immersive, anyone who tells you that theres nothing to do is lying to you, there is plenty to do. The graphics are a pleasure to look at ( won't go into machine specs as its been done to death on these boards already). Also the character class progression system is really nice.

Where the game fell down for me was in the fact that location will help to define how easy you will find a group, i'm in Europe and found my server to be very quite at the times i played most, this made it quitre hard for me to find a group. Also i played very casually only a couple of hours a week. I don't think that the game is set up for people who play this infrequently.

Give EQ2 a chance though you may enjoy it, though i think you will need to look at how much time you plan to spend playing...

Or dont buy it and save yourself the headache.

Im not part of the WoW vs EQ2 debate. I think they both suck. EQ2 sucks much worse and seems to have the more deluded fanbois, but WoW is nothing new and the graphics (while they fit the established Blizzard style) suck.

    Wait for something original.

You will not get an unbiased review of EQ2 here since there seems to be a plague of people who like WoW.

"WoW is r00xor, EQ2 suxx0R 11!!11." They wil tell you.

Yeah it may be fun but that is limited until (or coming soon (TM) ) battlegrounds are introduced. where the hell IS the honour system? WoW may be the hot potato NOW, but in a few years time when mudflation finally kills off WoW, EQ2 will still be here and will be a more refined product. Play EQ2 if you like a challenge and want to feel tested.

    Here is thy answer!

If you have a 10 year old computer and crappy graphics card - WOW/EQ1
If you like boring gameply and soloing - WOW
If you like listening to 10 year old LEET kiddies - WOW/DAoC RVR serverz
If you like getting killed in the middle of a quest 30 times in a row - WOW
If you like following and not deciding things on your own - WOW

If you have a powerful pc and are an avid mmorpg'er - EQ2
If you like your game to have a community - EQ2
    If you want a challenge - EQ2
If you want constant updates and tons of content - EQ2 or EQ1

If you like PVP - DAoC or Soon to be GuildWars
If you like headaches - DAoC

Don't get excited about a tax cut. It's like a mugger giving you back fare for a taxi.

Because it's human nature to feel the need to stick up for something that you like. On that same note--why do some people feel the need to mindlessly bash games that for some reason they didn't enjoy?

Not saying you were bashing anything, SideSwipe--I agree with your post. I was simply responding to your opening sentence =)

As far as a 10 y.o. computer and crappy graphics card, I would suggest MUDs or Runescape.

I think EQ2 has serious drawbacks, including the graphics and sound aspects, not to mention lack of content that is reachable before you are completely bored and annoyed.

Yeah but some of us don't get bored from the game Jeep. It's a matter of taste/opinion.
