There's something nobody thought of (maybe)!! With the recent craze of souping-up cars and doing illegal street racing, why not develop a street racing online game? Some of the possible features could be:
1. Picking between male or female (fully customizable), and homeland (USA, Japan, Germany, etc.).
2. Instead of a level system, have it be a skill system (improved upon by racing), and also you have to work to earn money in order to buy custom parts for your car (exhaust, rims, ground effects, etc).
3. Start out by choosing one of several crap cars and a small budget for customizing it. Use it to race and win cash against "mob" street racers.
4. Have the ability to buy better cars when you accumulate enough money.
5. Have the ability to join a racing club where the leader (NPC) assigns you "quests" to race against a certain "mob" racer and such.
6. Every now and then, race against a "boss" racer (perhaps a club leader), in which beating him would reward you with a custom part or skill increase reward or something.
I can go on and on, but I just want you reaction to this idea. I'm shocked that no game companies have not picked up on this idea, or that they think there is no profit in it. I would jump at this type of game if it ever became available (and it had sweet graphics).
This type of game would not fall under "MMORPG" I guess, but it's certainly an online game that would be loads of fun to play!
What do you guys think?

I am completely disinterested.
I find it a little interesting. I doubt that something like that will ever make it big due to the fact that there is no killing involved. For some reason I think that is a huge part of gaming. Even though you don't have to kill to play online games, its almost required unless your a pure crafter type of person. Even then a lot of people (not all) craft for the pure fact of bank roll to get better goods to kill/protect better. I think you see were I'm coming from.
Myself, I would play it for awhile. I got HotRod American Stree Drag awhile back and had some fun with it. It would be neat to play something like that. I don't know a damn thing about MCO but I'll go take a look at that when I'm done posting this.
Wouldn't lag/connection issues be a huge problem with a game like this? Multiple vehicles moving around very fast... Last time i saw a online racing game vehicles were 'warping around' too much.
I doubt i'll play a pure racing game again, but for those who would i'm sure there's something to build on here. Maybe it could be a part of a larger game, like in GTA Vice City?
Well I've posted in the Rumor Mill forum about a game coming out in 2007 by the creator of Grand Theft Auto, and published by a korean developer which I've never heard of but from what they state has had over 50 million subscribers in various games (who knows?). It's going to be called All Points Bulletin and it will have driving in it as well as first person shooter style combat, using the Unreal 3 engine. Now you see why it's coming out in 2007. Anyways, if you want racing, e-Games has a racing game on their website. I dont terribly like it though. But if you want to check it out, it's at www.e-games.com.my
Sounds like a favorite game of mine gone MMO. Need for Speed Underground 2, with some enhancements ofcourse since there is no skill system at all in NFS:U2. I would like it, dunno if I would pay a monthly for such an idea though since the graphics would be dogged down abit to support so many players on the roads and a game like that to me would be all about the graphics.
Interesting idea however, I would certainly try the trial of it.

Yeah, definently a test before a buy on something like that. The only thing that I could see going bad for it is the replayablility. A car can only do so much
