I'm 45, my kids and I play, signed up for a year on each account when the special was offered. Got three of my friends who range from 28, to 36, to 40, play for a year too. The only complaint we might have is the lack of card play options. But then we are Magic geeks. Kudo's for the fun game.

Hehe, you notice the similarity as well! Its very much like a toned down version of magic. Pips=mana ect. But you can get some very good creative deck designs in this game. My mains a necro with life as a secondary. Death, Life decks are my favorite. In MTG I liked the same. Wish they had more Hand denial cards in Wizards :-D Would make my day. Still have a Black/Artifact lotus, rack, underworld dreams deck with a couple of jizoms in storage. I imagine that deck.. mainly betas with hypnotic specters is worth quite a bit of money these days. It was the only set of cards with a 15 card sideboard that i actually kept. Have not played MTG since the 90ies.
But if MTG was to make a mmorpg based on the card game. I would follow Wizard101s format. It is well designed and works perfectly.
The card options will grow as you level. Look to increase the size of the deck you use as well to give you more options in combat. There are other card options as well that are based on level and training point cost. For help look to the Wizard101 Central Spell List, a great tool to help you ensure you have everything you need.
