Id give it B+ since the new expansion has not hit yet...but overall about where it should be.
I'm still pleasantly shocked that it received a 5/10... I mean it is pretty terrible, maybe like a 3 or 4?
On a side note, all official critics (or at least the ones that review MMORPGs) have rated this thing at or below a 5 out of a 10. I think they were being very, very optimistic with the rating; yet most of players (lets say 200 and 5 being here) still complain and pillage the forums about it. I did recall some developers of Darkfall Online actually being angry about one very big critic that gave them a bad rating, it goes to show they truly have no idea what steaming pile they develop for 10 years.
[mod edit]
It's funny how some of those "official critics" played the game for less than 10 hours.
The fact of the matter is, you wont know how good or bad this game is until you play it for an extended period of time. That is what mmorpgs require to be rated.
If you think that this website gives a fair consensus of Darkfall (or any game for that matter), think again. The majority of people on this site started hating on Darkfall the day Tasos called players giving his game bad reviews "trolls".
Okay sure, Tasos sucks with PR, but that's fine.
I've been playing the game for about 3 weeks now and I would give it a decent 8. What it aims to do, it does very well. People just figure that any game that doesn't suit them MUST be bad.
That's the essence of the Anti-Darkfall movement.
That's the essence of the Anti-Darkfall movement.
Not just the Anti-DarkFall movement :þ
Anti-F2P, Anti-STO (pre-controversy), and all the other games that are even slightly different from what they think an MMO is. Either it's a WoW-Clone or a Fail, there's no middle aside from the game the play :þ
Back to subject though,
I pretty much agree with Inktomi. Though he has yet to fully "taste" the essence of DarkFall and that is where the real deal is. Some players get bored once they reach that place and leave, while others are really enjoying it. It's like playing 2 different game once you reach a certain point.
For the record, I'm part of those who got bored after reaching that "end-game" if I can call it this way.
5/10 Is an ok rating. For a game with hackers and other major problems at start. It should of been expected.
Also giving this game an a- rating means this review is most likely bullshit.
So I took a look at it. I found that he rated PvE, PvP A+. your kidding right? This deserve the greatest rating ever? You got to compare it to other games. I know that PvE doesnt come close to WoW with driven story line, voice acting with events and triggers.

The amount of hackers in DarkFall is extremely low (though I believe EU did take a small hit after the 7 Day Trial started)
Also, given how you do not understand that Your type of PvE=/=Other players type of PvE, your post is also bullshit (to take your own expression). PvE is the whole world, quest is just part of it and in a Sandbox, the story is different from the ones written on a piece of paper. In a sandbox, the story is written according to the player's actions.
Also, no review in this world isn't biased to some extent. We all have our personal preferences and dislike. If you don't understand this simply fact, I highly recommand you avoid looking at reviews. A review is the impression of a person based on his own requirements, opinions and ideology. You can't please everyone.
I have to agree with "Devalon" (not the wording though ) got to be someone that never play any other MMO.. I dont mean that bad.. Giving it a A? I would give it 5/10.. What its a year later and the client alone cost you $60? StarTrek online .. new mmo $37..
I think if they drop price alot more people would want to play..
Well currently there's a 1$ 7 day-trial ( a lot of reasoning behind the 1$, don't let it bother you) and the latest "Special" is the DarkFall client+ 3 months for $60. Which basically mean 20$ per month, (and if you keep paying, the sub is the same as with every MMO: $15/month). If you liked the game after the trial and bought DarkFall with this offer, well you basically paid less than you would have by buying STO+ an additional 2 months.
Also, Aventurine has proved to be listening carefully to player's feedback and slowly modifiying the game accordingly. Cryptic/Atari pretty much scammed their player-base.
You guys are funny, if you for a split second think darkfall doesn't suck. You're a product of your parents crack habit, and it's expected i suppose.
Darkfall ui BLOWS. Come on, the first thing the player see's when they start the game is the ui, and their ui is the worst possible ui in all of mmo gaming history.
Forced 1st person view? Yeah, i am not in it to play fps, i'll go buy Bad company 2 if i wanna play in FORCED first person. I played at the beginning, maybe it's drastically changed, but from what i've heard. It's still the most terrible ui ever created. I could never get used to it, so i quit. Have you ever seen such horrible fighting animations in a game? I bet algannon has better!
