Hey guys,

I'm deciding to give Aion a second chance. Whereas before I had a very insta-50 mentality, I'm going to try taking it easy. My own question is that of Legion Activity; anyone play on the server Kaisinel, and know if there are any worthwhile legions that'll provide social interaction/help leveling, is there a particular server with an optimal population that maybe I could start over again? I've read some posts, but I'll ask a question just to clarify; any general tips for a level 21? I've seem to run out of quests to do, and am stuck grinding as a chanter.

Thanks.

Well... nothing's changed regarding the grind.. it is a Korean MMO afterall and them kooky Koreans love their grind.

However, it looks like the 1.9 patch is going to give more xp from questing, better rewards, and daily quests...  hopefully the DQs yield adequate xp so grinding becomes less of a requirement.

Use this site to find quests if you are at a loss:

    powerwiki.na.aiononline.com/aion

Some people don't realize that you might have to revisit areas for new quests when you come of level. Because of this they end up going to one area, exhausting the quests and then wondering what they should be doing.

Thanks. do legions still recruit low levels? What method do people usually use to get into competent legions?

  • ElectriceyeElectriceye Member UncommonPosts: 1,171

Personally levels 20-25 were the worst and most boring in the whole game. I even considered quitting at lvl23 because you don't really have much diversity. It's mindless questing/grinding.

It opens up at lvl25, and keeps getting better. People will post the exp curve and how it steeps up considerably etc., but if you're in the right mentality (aka not the insta lvl50 mentality) you wouldn't care about it.

My tip for you is persevere during these levels, you won't regret it! (hopefully)

EDIT: Yea I'm sure there are some legions which recruit low level players, there are even legions that only recruit people from levels1 till 40 so that they help each other until they get to 40 where they can get into more competent legions.

To get in a competent legion it's normal fare really.. you talk to some high rank, apply on their site, and hopefully get accepted if you have no problems with their rules, raid times etc.

I totally agree with you. The reason why me and my brother quit is because we became pessimistic at level 20. Hopefully with joining an active legion (I've hopefully found one already :) ) and a social atmosphere, I'll be able to enjoy the game again.

Just curious, what makes level 25+ such a resurrection? Is it the abyss/first dungeon?

  • DracSchniderDracSchnider Member UncommonPosts: 223

Yes the Abyss opens up but more so the first dungeon.  I ran it 2 times with my alt over the last 2 nights and gaind levels each time.  After NTC you will start to see levels fly alot faster.

    You can't swim in Aion.

No, jokes aside. I'd wait until 1.9 to join the game. It will be a better experience for new players then. Not saying you can't join, just you're better off is all.

It isn't a resurrection at 25+. The game does change greatly at this level IF you try to level in the abyss. The constant ganking will turn you off to leveling their so you will end up going back to your factions homeworld to level. The game is a terrible grind as well once you hit 30+. Still hoping they fix that.

It's both, first dungeon and entry to the abyss. The first dungeon is great for exp, too bad you can't enter anymore starting level29, so lvls 25-28 shouldn't take more than 3days of casual play if you do the dungeon a few times. It goes pretty fast to level30, where you get an additional stigma slot, hopefully get your new wings, and do the attunement to yet another dungeon.

As a chanter you might feel like you're starting to become less powerful solo (you are very powerful early on) mainly because other classes start really shining and get tons of new skills while our class kinda stands still with only a few really new skills, most which are upgrades to our group mantras/buffs. I'd say stick with it, it will all change again lvl40+ and you'll love the class again.

Good luck with your guild, this is the key tbh. Having an active and fun guild changes everything and again, if I was playing the game solo I would have doubtlessly quit.0

It's an MMO, play it with people, hope you enjoy.

I guess one of the main problems I'm having right now is with my server. All the guilds I've attempted to contact regarding recruitment haven't responded, much to my dismay, I wonder about the activity of Kaisinel, but I don't really feel like rerolling my chanter on another server--though I might have to. Any idea when server transfers will be available? This isn't an active question, just one out of curiosity.

I suggest you try Ariel if you are in the west coast. It is a faitly active server, specially on the pvp side on fortress. YOu could make a char lvl it to 10 and ask around in LFG for mroe info regarding the server if you are relaly interested. on the other hand if you dont want to pay for a server transfer, you can always lvl a new character from scratch on the double xp weekends. You level so fast its almost a joke.

At least with a sub game they know that people won't tolerate bullshit and leave. With anet we have no recourse but to buy our own lube so our assholes don't get too stretched out from getting bent over a table at Anets will. - Hrimnir

Double xp weekends? When do they usually occur? If that happens, I'll probably most definitely start on a new server... but as for server transfer, I don't see an option on the NCsoft account page...

  • sr7olsnipersr7olsniper Member UncommonPosts: 206

I cant tell you for sure when they occure since they happen at random. They are announced at the aiononline website so we always know when they are going to happen after its announced. The closest one is actually this friday 12 from 8pm till monday 8 am. there were 2 double Xp weekends in February if i remember correctly adn this will be marchs first. I am guessing its twice a month but i could be wrong something like every other weekend is double xp.

The next double XP weekend actually starts this Friday March 12th at 8pm PST.  If you check the Aion website they have the times they start on each server.  This would be a good chance to start a new character and level to 20 in no time.  As a side note Ariel is a great west coast server always people on and plenty of pvp.  The economy is great as well!

Thanks for the helpful replies guys, they're really helping me endure the rough times this game is going through right now. Hopefully I'll be able to see the light. :) If anyone at all is interested in recruiting me out of the get-go, I've been playing MMOs since '03, and am a keen to MMO's in general and grasp things pretty quickly, as well as being a team player all the way. Shameless self-advertissment here, but I might as well, eh? Hehe!
