Yeah that's why CoB isn't for everyone. But I love the vocals, usually I hate screaming (Crade of Filth and crap like that) but his voice sounds really sharp and powerful.
And yep, Bodom does mean something. It refers to Lake Bodom in Finland. And the whole phrase "Children of Bodom" refers to the bodom children who camped out on the lake a long long time ago and were all brutally killed. The police to this day are still trying to figure out the suspect. It has a whole thing about it on scythes-of-bodom.com.
Hrmm, to get into a small debate I will probably lose, Children of Bodom I was lead to believe was kind of like a cult name for a following of the killer, or something like that. Well, that was probably an incoherent statement.
Anyway: Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache Then: Last Funeral - The Wisdom I Required.
Damn, why am I in such a pissed off depressed mode?
Hmm... You might be right about that. But in the articles and newspapers they refer the children who died as "Children of Bodom". I'll look into the article more. If it was a following of a killer, it could resemble a reaper or something. My T-Shirt i'm looking at right now is a reaper with a huge-ass scythe, looks sick.
That's pretty damn cool... gruesome but cool. I'm surprised I've never heard of that, I usually love those unsolved mystery stories.
And to update my listenings: All Children of Bodom All Metallica All Nightwish (rathma, you might like them, somewhat similar to bodom, but with female vocals. Don't be pushed away by that though, they sound really cool, unique. Like an orchestra with a heavy bass line, epic LotR sound... well that's what comes to mind during some of their songs anyway. Their newest Once is really good.) Dry Kill Logic - The Darker Side of Nonsense Soil - Scars
I've been going back to my death metal roots with the last 2.

Yeah I got their new album once about a month ago. My favourite songs from them is Nemo, Phantom of the Opera and Wishmaster. Pretty sick band for rock/opera.

That's probably there best album too. I'm liking them alot. Nemo is really good, but Ghost Love Score is probably my favorite track.
I also just got some Lacuna Coil, Comalies. They're similar to Nightwish.
You might enjoy a band called Blind Guardian. They are fantasy inspired and all of that, one of their songs is called lord of the rings. I'm watching their concert dvd and it's great.
Eh, I don't normally do these kind of posts, but hey, this looks fun, heh.
I'm more of a Metal (Specific Sub-Genres)/Trance/Ambient person myself. So right now i'm listening to:
Now: Thunder Thunder Thunder Thunder Cats by Analoq (Yes, that's the actual title)
Next: Red Glowing Dust by Jon Hallur (Of Crowd Control Productions (The developer/publisher of Eve-Online)
Then: Into The Infinity Of Thoughts by Emperor (In The Nightside Eclipse is a VERY good album to all that like Quasi-Symphonic Norweigen Black Metal)
After That: Throught Smugded Lenses by Dark Tranquillity (Hey, I love the new album, quite good)
After Even That: Tch, something from For All Tid (Dimmu Borgir's earliest effort, VERY cool.) or Space Girls(Remix) by DistantJ OR Conquer All by Behemoth....... yeah.
The sword of light illuminates the dark. I am that light.
I'm still listening to Children of Bodom, Tokyo Warhearts. By far the best live album ever. I fit S&M by metallica in there too, but for the most part the orchestra ruins their songs. Don't get me wrong, I love classical, but... it's effin Metallica! They rock! They don't rock your socks off with a piano concerto! The only songs I really liked was Master of Puppets and The Memory Remains.
I think my favourite songs on Tokyo Warhearts would have to be:
Silent Night, Bodom Night - Very hard song to play, but when I saw them in concert Alexi plays it so carelessly, he keeps flipping his hand over the arm of the guitar back and fourth for the chorus part.)
Downfall - really powerful song with a cool keyboard effect.
Lake Bodom - Very melodical sweeping, sounds really nice.
Bed of Razors - Still trying to get the chorus down pat, really tricky to get the timing right.
Warheart - Overall catchy song, and it has the best sweeping chorus. Then 2:15 seconds into it a great guitar solo that goes on for a while.
I've only gotten about half of the songs on the album. Had to download them indivdually. Can't buy the album because it's out of print.

All of those, plus Hatebreeder. Downfall is my overall favorite though. I just downloaded their whole discography.
