Should i dedicate more time to this game?

I was thinking about playing RoM in summer but i heard good things about allods online and today i decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed what i saw, missions mean something, with events and lore, just like GW or DDO. The thing is that i also heard crazy things like that you had to pay per every PvP hour you do, i will spend some money in the cash shop if i play it, but for each hour?

So whats your opinion? Allods is playable and fun or should i stay in RoM?

The payment thing has to do with perfume (there's a thread about it below). To avoid a stackable death debuff you need this perfume in order to prevent it from occurring. If you don't, as you continue to die (which you will) your stats go down to nothing and you have to wait forever to get them back.

On the bright side none of this occurs until level 23, meaning you can play the game for quite awhile before worrying about it. Also, there's a repeatable quest that takes about 10mins to do and gives you 1 free perfume, which lasts 30mins. Due to Fatigue (Allods rest xp) you can only really quest for a few hours a day anyway. Either way I wouldn't worry about it too much, paying money for items is by no means required and the people who tell you so are either bitter or misinformed.

In my opinion Allods is a mildly enjoyable MMO that I would suggest you at least try to see how you like it.

This post would also be a little more true if the repeatable perfume quest for Empire side wasn't broken. sigh. beta.

None knows how the cash shop will end up, the current Russian version is expensive, overpowered and rather dumb (it was much better during the FoD revolt), the US/EU is patches behind, even more expensive but very very incomplete. RoM at least has cool gear crafting for the price, which leads to lively in-game economy albeit rather small.

Game is good, classes make better sense (the dual classes in RoM are cool but broken idea), instances are as overtuned as in RoM, PvP sounds fun at first but is rough and unfinished close-up, UI is much less developed but RoM went over the top anyway, 3D engine is better, sounds is just slightly less crappy.

It is hard to recomend investment. The business plan is sound but the circumstances are risky, so to speak.

OP - I would read a few other posts in this forum before taking that advice. A decent bag, a bank slot and the inevitable re-spec will cost well over $30. I'm not saying you MUST get any of these items, but without at least a bag and a bank slot it's a pain in the **** to play, and to get ganked by someone just because then essentially have more RL money then you has got to suck.

    [Mod Edit]

First off You get a free respec at 40. Just look at the game forums and find a build from someone that knows what there talking about and then you have a good template to follow.

Secondly you dont have to buy bag or bank upgrade. Unless your a pack-rat youll do just fine with what they give you. If your dedicated theres a quest that gives u a bag and bank upgrade, but those are a big timesink, because they require you to get rare drops for the bag, and find a rare person for the bank but its not impossible., FoD does start in early 20's you wont start noticing it until 30 (40 is cap) when it starts becoming a hassle. We dont know how FoD will end up but I can tell you it does suck atm. You can also use in game gold to get rid of FoD, that does get costly tho.

If you like it play it, dont listen to half truths because theres a lot of that going around.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)

At lvl 40 (which is top lvl) to have a charactor as strong as possible it will cost you as much as $10,000, real money.

It's a free for all gankfest.  The cash shop sell items that improve stats, and rune removal tools, that you will need. If you dont use the cash shop dont expect to be in a halfway decent guild, the big guilds dont want freeloaders with poor equipment.

It's the most expensive game to play period, and it's all about the pvp, which leads to you getting killed by ppl 20 lvls higher than you, and practically forcing you to use the cashshop to remove fear of death. which causes you to lose 25% of your stats for a given time, and those stack with each death, so you can be sitting and waiting an hour to get your stats back and even to get out of pergetory and be allowed to play some more. Ppl say you can use in game gold to remove this, and you can, but with the ffa gankfest going on you'll be back dead soon enough, and theres only so much gold you can actually make. Ppl say to go farm gold to pay your way out with gold but you'll get ganked while trying to do that.

Therefore you HAVE to use the overpriced cash shop.

So there you go. It's a nice looking game, but has many bugs yet to be worked out. If you want to spend tons of cash it's perfect.
