Don't get your hopes up

When I look at this game, I see and really increadable looking game engine. I see a game with an impressive weather system. I see FAQ that includes a lot of ambitions/revoloutionary ideas.

But If I take into acount the developers purchased its best known features, the graphics engine/weather system, from a third party, all I'm left with is a lot of good ambitions ideas promised in the FAQ. Considering that the small amount of beta testers is under a strick NDA I'm extreemly weary of getting my hopes up. Those of you that are really following this game closely, is there any solid proof that this game with come through other than ambitions ideas and a great looking 3rd party engine. Are there any well known devs working on this game?

Don't get me wrong, I really looking foward to this game. I hope it lives up to all the hype and then some. The only other game I'm watching right now is Vanguard, which won't be out for a while.

Um, no, I believe part of the DnL team were the developers of their game/terrain engine.

As Xzaro mentioned... the engine was developed by Devs of DnL image

To be honest AdrenalN it doesn't pay to worry over such things... best just enjoy the ride, and chill with other enthusiasts... it will come when it comes.. if it doesn't, just move on... its only a game in the end image

The weather engine comes from DnL devs too.
They have hired their GM system and the server tech.

yEAH i THOUGHT vANGUARD MIGHT BE A NICE ALTERNATIVE TO dNl BUT BOY WAS i WRONG. ..er sorry about the caps too lazy to change...anyway DnL is exactly what I've wanted in an MMORPG, a place where I can just go explore, sled, and build castles and hunt, not have to XP grind, go questing through dungeons, or other annoying, repetitive quests like Wow or EQ 2.

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that the DnL team just licensed the engine. I guess if they actually created the engine thats a little more reasuring.

If you check the videos out and compare to eg EQ2 vids then there are a few details that give a few hints on how well thought through the game design will be.

Example. there is a vid showing the dragon in flight. The body of the dragon actually moves up and down during the flight path giving it a more believable impression just as larger animals do IRL (resistance of air). If you look at the the EQ2 dragon in flight, the dragon flies in a straight line (even when it flaps its wings) making it look fake. If you include this type of coding into the game and on top of that have proven it with a in game video, I believe that there is som great stuff to be expected. I believe that this is actual game coding and not generated by the 3rd party engine.
