I don't understand how anybody has trouble making money in Aion.  While leveling to 50 I never had an issue affording skill books, and I hardly ever died so soul healing was a non issue.  I hardly ever went out of my way to farm kinah, unless you count how I made sure to get my aether and vitality extraction to 399, since there were quite a few quests that required high level materials, and sell all my gathers on the broker.  I play a Templar, and as such while leveling up I was chugging health pots both in and outside of groups.  And I never made my own potions, I always bought them.  I never actually took up a profession until level 50.

Aside from buying cheapo green weapons, I primarily used quest rewards and drops I found until my low 40s, where I had enough money to afford blue gear for every slot and got the quested Betoni's weapon at 43 which I used up until my platinum coin greatsword and then Fenris one hander.

I was never lucky with drops before I had full blues either, meaning absolutely no blue/gold world drops or godstones by that point.  Perhaps I was stingy with absolutely never enchanting my gear and only using white manastones, but I was always sitting on a very comfortable stack of kinah.

Then at 50 it's been absolutely trivial to make, having to put forth virtually no effort to buy at least half the coins for my 2k coin greatsword, afford my entire Fenris set, put full Attack +5 and Crit +15 stones in it (200k+ each on my server), and even a gold shield for 20 mil.

And it's like, I'm clearly not some special case since I know of people who have over 100 million kinah, which seems perfectly reasonable to me for someone who actually tried to make money either from a profession or farming extensively.

What exactly are you doing that you "struggle" to afford stuff?  Like Soul Healing, I remember that costing what, 50k for one death in the 40s?  Christ, a vendor trash drop by then is easily 150k+

I have to agree with you, I'm a bit more past 45 and though I'm not rich by any means, I really haven't had any issues with money. Having said that I'm not sure if it's the crafting that is bankrupting people.

    Just don't know.

I am crafting in Aion. If you want to be a crafter, you will be very poor for sure and when you want to be an expert crafter, all of your kinah will be gone. And the only way to refill Kinah is grinding again. I have 6 crafting professions. And it will suck least 10 millions+ if you want to be an expert crafter in one profession.

If you are not a crafter, you woould have few millions kinah if you don't buy too many stuffs from auction house. The cost to train new skills are ridiculous in this game as well as other stuffs.

But if you ever played F2P mmorpg before, you wil find any item sold for 20 millions are quite normal. Since the core of Aion is based on F2P so as the item price then you won't see anything wrong to view from F2P player's position. Just forget you have paid monthly fee to play Aion may it makes you feel better.

Making money in Aion is very easy and there are many ways to do it, its one of the things I like about the game.  My cleric is level 50 and I strictly PvP or farm Balaur in the core and made over 12 mil this week and I only play a few hours a night.  Also made over 70K AP :)

Most people struggling for kinah are simply crafters or multi-taskers, by multi-taskers I mean they try to level up their crafts as they level. From what I've noticed it's the worst thing you could possibly do. Crafting is very expensive in Aion, leveling up your crafts to 399 can cost you about 2mil~3mil and depending on which one you are going to do you are going to suffer even more (mostly weapon smith).

Why would people level up their crafts to 399 and become expert when they are not level 50? Simple, they see a level 30 quest that requires expert and want to complete it making them freagin' poor!

I haven't done that, but it's what I've analyzed so far.

I'm currently lv.38 Gladiator Asmodian on Azphel NA East server. I have Greater Extract Vitality 271p, Fine Extract Aether 312p, and Greater Weaponsmithing 291p, the rest of my crafts are below 99 so I won't bother to mention them. To get the ones I have over 99p took me lots of time and kinah, what's suggested by a lot of players is using double exp weekends to level up crafts, basically levels them for half the price using work orders.

Basic money tip, don't craft till 50 but do all gathering quests and level up your gathering as much as possible. Trust me you will make tons of kinah since a lot of players are too lazy to go out and gather, they just buy the mats, it's the same in all MMOs, crafters are poor gatherers are rich, but crafters have better gear.

i think teh one thing that everyone can agree on here is that if you arent a grinder, this game can become very boring for you after level 30. The reason is because all the quest content from 1-50 is relatively the same type of quests. So after 30 levels your kinda bored and really only want to grind, but damn grinding gets mind numbing if your not a grinder.

Crafting in Aion is unreasonable design because crafting will receive not only crafting EXP but also player's EXP due to poor EXP system in the game which is included PVP EXP. It's one system for all.

Everyone doing crafting mainly for one initial reason, craft something for themselves. But the fact is that when you are able to craft something for yourself, your level already need better stuffs than you could craft. So I can say Aion wants you to play multiple classes to extend your game time, for the sake of their profit only.

To be an expert crafter, you must have one lv50 to collect the materials and flux, and I also doubted that the higher level has better chance for critical craft result.

I have a few low level crafters only doing crafting for my other alts and support each other. But Ncsoft has blocked this in the coming 1.9 patch. Your character must reach certain level to be able to advance your crafting level. So the purpose of Ncsoft is even more apparent, Ncsoft forced you to play not only one character. They don't consider if it would be fun to repeate all of this.

Remeber that, any game uses crafting to lure player for time sink, and almost every game has better stuffs obtained from questing, the best from big raid. Another best is combined crafting and big raid which is another time sink.

If you are only thinking about crafting could make you some armors, yes, up to middle level, after lv40 or 45, the crafting become more and more difficult and mostly are impossible to solo again.

And remember, when you spent all time to get better result from crafting, the next expansion will obsoleted everything you have.

Everyone has their own taste in games.  I have been playing since Closed Beta 1 and have been having a blast the whole time.  There are no more legitimate problems with this game than any others and compared to other games at launch (AoC, Warhammer) things have gone a lot smoother.  The first big content patch 1.9 should hit the servers by June, but if you just bought the game today you will probably just be hitting 50 by then.  Make sure to choose your server based on your play time as fortress raids generally occur at prime time 8PM and 10PM in the respective time zone.  If you are interested in a great East Coast server with balanced elyos/asmo pvp and a healthy population I would suggest Triniel and rolling Asmodian (they have the slight upperhand in the abyss there).  If you prefer west I would suggest rolling on Siel and as an Elyos.  if you roll on Triniel I am a 50 Cleric named Nephandys - hit me up if you need help with anything.
