Anyone else thinking about the pre order?

Maverz290Maverz290 Member Posts: 447

Erm, yeah. I'm considering pre ordering, purely because the risk vs reward system of whether it pays off or not is quite intriguiging.

Has anyone else taken the gamble? Anyone else brave enough to pre order without any (ANY) footage or example of gameplay?

I got my kick in the nuts when i joined age of conan and vanguard on day one. I dont recomend you preorder, wait for the game to come out, in just a month or two you will be able to know if the game is good or just a scam. Really, think about it, preordering is a not necessary risk, you can always buy the game once we get some info about it.

I will be waiting for a lot more gameplay vids and information. But it looks interesting and worth keeping an eye on.

Going to wait and see.  Has a lot of promising features.  Want to see if Notorious can pull it off.  Kudos to them if they do.

Waiting for player feedback before I spend money on this game.  The devs already said they won't release a video or screenshot with the UI, so will have to wait for the player input.

Im considering it. As someone else said, if they manage even a third of that feature list it will still be impressive. But as a group of gamers how many games have we said that about in the past.

I pre-ordered and I strongly recommend you to wait till you see some player reports from the ones who get early access, should happen in couple of weeks. On the other hand, it's only 40$/30€, can't really speak of gambling.

Waiting on Xsyon & betaing stuff

If I was you I would wait. I am !!

No one knows anything about this game for real.

    Heh.

I've pre-ordered a total of 3 times over the past five years. Before that...it didn't seem a common practice for devs to give that as an option, unless my memory just sucks. I do remember pre-ordering through Gamestop a few times, but that's what....five bucks?

Of the 3 times I have pre-ordered....Warhammer was a total burn for me.  AION at least gave me a refund.  And Alganon...I know, I know, I just wanted to support the developers, I was feeling generous at the time and the target audience seemed to be disillusioned older players, the community was precious, the GMs could not have been nicer, and well....the outcome of that one remains to be seen, because we all know the hooplah over that game and the "promises" of refunded money. To be honest...I haven't even checked the site to see if that's happening yet, so...who knows?

Anyway....I swore off pre-orders totally after Warhammer, and as you see....I've done it two more times, AND....I will do it again for The Secret World when able, because I love Ragnar Tournquist, I could run his fan club....seriously. I would THROW my money at that man if he was close enough to me. :)

So yes....I'll pre-order again someday, but no....not for Xyson.  Sorry.  I don't know enough about the developers or creative team to warrant the gamble. I'm watching it though. But I watch all MMOs because the genre's evolution is of interest to me.

EDIT: Come to think of it....am I getting the terms "pre-order" and "pre-pay" mixed up?  I pre-paid for the above games I mentioned in FULL....not some easily refundable pre-order of 5 bucks or something....pre-PAID.  Sorry.

Does that not seem a little dodgy to anyone else?.

Preorder? Nah, since Hellgate London I never preordered anything anymore. :)

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Yes far too early to buy into this I think, need to see some feedback first. It probably is the real thing but I still have doubt in my mind.

The features list of the game really makes me want to but there just no info about the game other then a few screen shots .

why would someone pre order before showing any game play? Its just weird that they would ask us to preorder before  us gameplay footage

  • jaspr180jaspr180 Member Posts: 96

I believe the common trend now is to treat it like a trial.   Pre-order and then do a charge back if/when you dont like it.

  • Wharg0ulWharg0ul Member Posts: 4,183

I don't pre-order. Besides, this game is going to have to rock some MAJOR ass to pull me away from Darkfall.

After getting burned with the Star trek online fiasco i will not be leaping before i get a good hard look.

better wait it's already getting fishy,  pre-orderes should be in around march 15th ( at least it was said so ), it's 16th and still no word about it only a big list of what is left to do

i predict a lot of crying next week when noone will get it

never even heard of the game until this post.  Took a look at the website and still trying to figure out just what the game is.  No, I won't be pre-ordering this game or any other for that matter.  I like to wait until the game has been out a month or so before I buy a game.

Lets all be honest here, this just scream's scam. If the devs where confident they had a good game why on earth would they not show a short vid of the game?

This just look so dodgy me. If it turns out to be legit then good on em and I wish them good luck. If it turns out to be a good game I will buy it.

But lets see it in action first, and lets see the devs be a bit more open with us!! This is not a good start if it is a legit game.

As dodgy as you are saying to me would be if they DID come out with a video (which is pretty easy to make) and then have people preorder.

    Like some MMO's do.

Having no video is like a huge red flag so not many people would preorder wouldnt you agree? I mean its pretty easy to make a video/trailer of a fake game, so if it was fake why not just make one and put it out to get more scammed money?

Or if you read the reasons and not just posted on the thread you would know why they are not doing a video.

To the OP,why would you equate a pre order with PR talk?Talk is cheap all the PR spokesmen do it.

When you decide on a pre order ,it should have little to do with the game at all.The reason you pre order is to get something extra but more important than any virtual gimmick item is if you figure the game will be sold out.

IMO NOBODY should be supporting developers with pre orders EVER.You are giving them money to work with before you even get a product.Worse than that  ,there is a VERY good chance you will use up your 30 day grace period for a refund.I might also add,no game is likely to ever be sold out again ,all developers offer some form of digital download, but if it is the box copy you desire and feel it will be limited, then i guess that might be a decent excuse.

Even if you want the box copy and get some virtual item gimmick,if you login and hate the game in the first day, what then? That virtual item is not going to get your money back,i would say ONLY pre order,if you feel you have money to waste.
