The computer you have should be able to run EVE yes. Although don't expect it to run well and stay away from extremely crowded areas.

step 1. get/find/or keep job --> pays you money

step 2. save money in some form or fashion for a few months if not a year

step 3. take 800-1600 dollars and http://www.newegg.com and build top end super gaming rig and join the rest of the crowd already!

I would recommend downloading the client and trying to start it up, without even having a trial login or anything like that. Immediately, this will point out if your video card can deal with it in that it must have pixel shader 3.0 if I recall correctly. I could be wrong on the shader, but I do recall that you get a pretty explicit error message about why the video card is not compatible.

So, if you get to the login screen, then you should be off to a good start :P

Naturally, would recommend turning down graphics, effects and such and all the typical stuff you probably already did for WoW.

     go here: http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/intro.aspx

select EVE Online from the list

then click "can you run it"

and it should tell you how well you can run it.

Back when I played EVE a lot, I had an Athlon XP 3000, 1 GB RAM, and a NVIDIA 5200 (128 MB).  I had problems with crowded areas and just about any fleet action.

I think you could play EVE with the specifications you listed, but you will be limiting yourself.  You will probably have to stick to mainly PVE missions in low population system.

Will run on low specs I assume, but... extremely recommend that you get rid of that or just pump ram and gpu...

There is no knowledge that is no power.

    I can't take the OP's specs seriously...I'm sorry.

I tried eve on a pretty crappy computer with similar specs as yours, but a little bit worse, and it ran fine on minimum setting, with a little lag during  combat which didn't affect me much
