Action MMO?

RogueSevenRogueSeven Member Posts: 321

There are a couple action MMOs in development atm (TERA, a few F2P ones as well). I was wondering are there any completed ones out there at the moment? perhaps with some meaningful pvp? i dont really want to deal with item loss but that isnt too bad. ive tried darkfall, too clunky. MO looks good but heard of too many bugs and neither of these are really "action" i guess. i dunno i guess i can wait for Earthrise or maybe even JGE

well i ahvent tried any P2P yet so all i can suggest is F2P's, if you like a good pvp with combo tactics try cabal online and 12 moon but if you like a turn based tactical pvp i must suggest you fully to try atlantica online i cannot invite you to flyff coz its not a pvp based game im a lover not a fighter ^_^

I recommend Global Agenda for your action orientated game. It has got free zones to play once you purchased it and new content is coming monthly for subscription payees.

Make sure to join a competent Agency for much fun in AvA later on.

The only one on the market is Global Agenda, just wait a few weeks for Kingdom Heroes from Aeria Games.

Anything else that people suggest, isn't an action MMO.

Isn't Archlords was one of those Tab to target then spam number row type games?

    Not true.

OP: There is The Chronicles of Spellborn, and Dungeons and Dragons Online, and Fallen Earth. I don't remember TCOS that much, but I do remember that you have the manually aim your cross-hairs. The same with DDO. I have DDO still installed on my computer and I play it with a 360 controller. DDO's combat feels really hack and slash to me, so you might enjoy that since it is actiony. FE is also actiony. It plays similiarly to a FPS or TPS.

They arent real action MMOs, they just offer a little more to combat than most RPGs, like Conan offers a little more.

Bobfish, the games I listed do not play like typical MMOs though. TCOS might, but I remember it being more hack and slash. DDO is the same and Fallen Earth is similiar to a shooter. Fallen Earth isn't as good as a shooter at shooting and combat, but it is definitly not like a typical MMO. By typical MMO I mean one that is like Everquest, WoW, Guild Wars, Age of Conan, EVE, City of Heroes, Lineage, Runes of Magic, FlyFF, Requiem: Bloodymare, Allods, etcetera and so forth.

DDO's combat is much more similiar in style to The Champions of Norrath Series than any of the games I listed above. It's a hack and slash game.

Champions Online feels like an action game because of its fast and responsive controls.  It has auto-targeting, but even after someone has already cast a projectile you still have time to block with your shield.   The PvP is instanced = not meaningful, but the PvP is more than an afterthought.  Also, the classless open build system means that there is a lot of depth in how you choose to build your characters skills.

Cryptic is trying a Customer Development approach to MMO creation.

yeah ive tried CO and GA, CO was fun but got boring after noticing a large majority of the players had a "pvp ruins the whole game" attitude. GA i just didnt feel the MMO aspect of it. more of a guildwars type thing, the conquest map was pretty cool, but would have been nice if there was more of an open world on each map and you had to actually mount HUGE assaults on each HEX. similar to something like planetside but with it's own twist. /shrug, ill stick with arma 2 and battlefield bad company 2 for the time being and other random games until JGE or maybe even planetside 2 comes out.

You could try 'Warriors of the 3 Kingdoms" it has the no target system like Tera and such, I just DL it other day and haven't had a chance to play because of work, so I can't really say how it is, but it seems interesting.

Try MO regardless of what people are squawking about. It's a free taste, and the *action* part of combat is pretty good with non-noob tools and higher weapon skills. I actually had fun with it, but yeah, I'm not buying it.

I just had a hard time with the initial lack of stuff to swing at in MO and when you did find something and then died to it or another player the run back to the priest then the run back to where you was to start with was way to time consiming for my taste

People actually fight NPCs in that game? I thought it was all ride-by smackdowns on players.

Seriously though, ya the PvE is sparse and unrewarding, but I had a good time in some fights where I was equipped well enough to hold up. The PvP is pretty good - when you have gear.

This is a good game and a real Action MMO, but playing on the asian servers is laggy and makes PvP impossible.
