patching takes forever

gorgogorngorgogorn Member Posts: 29

Anyone else having this issue? I would love to try the game but it is taking forever to download the patches (are they using p2p? I'm just wondering b/c of the connection numbers it gives), plus the need to choose to install each patch is getting very annoying very quickly. I obviously want to install your patch or I wouldn't be running your launcher!!!!!

Anyway I hope the game goes smoother than the damn installation process.

Yeah it's really annoying how slow it is ... any dedicated download sites?

EDIT: Never mind, I found this download - http://www.3fl.net.au/downloads/index.php?dlid=3369 - it' might need a lil patchin but it'll be faster than this P2P thing.

For me, since the fan-made launcher replaced SV's own, I've had no problems downloading the patches. It's nice and fast for me. However, a little more seriously, I have issues where corrupt patches are downloaded, the launcher then attempts to install it which throws up an error message, and after that the launcher thinks the game is up to date even though the patcher failed. When I try to run the game I just get a nowgame.exe error, presumably due to a broken patch being applied.

Because the launcher thinks its up to date, all I can do is either uninstall MO and attempt to download everything again (the launcher appears to delete the big patches after applying them) or just not bother. Given what I've seen and heard, the latest patches haven't done anything to help the game anyway so not bothering sounds like an attractive option.

Anyone know if they intend to do a trial for new players on release? Might give the final retail version a try in a couple of weeks.

It always throws me for a loop every time i see a post like this. Game taking forever to download? Patcher and patches not....  (insert whatever you feel like writing).  I went from ground zero to  "Client is up to date.    Ready"           This is a site for mmo players right? So how do you screw up something as simple as a simple install?

Edit: Try something faster than dsl before you complain about patcher speed. Sorry but this is 2010. Most ISP's today offer 5 meg speeds as basic. I'm running 18megs.  MO patches take maybe 3 minutes at best.

I get around 2-3 MB/s with the MO patcher.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

I had no problems at all.  I am assuming you have check ports etc.?  Router settings etc.  If you are using one.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

The launcher is mearly a torrent client, As so it needs ports open!

Now i cant remember wich ports wich is abit lame you cant choose your self but whatever.

Allso make sure you give it access in your firewall and not block it in windows UAC .

Furthermore, if you tried to download the patch at the same time as EVERYONE else, they might simply have run out of bandwith.

If you really wanna do it, yo ucan go to the mortal online updater dir, and get the .torrent files. then use your favorite torrent client to download the files.

I've upped all .torrents here: http://www.speedyshare.com/files/21473350/mopatch.7z
After you download 1st patch, copy it to :mortalonlinemortalonline directory and install it manually. Do it with every patch you download.

and btw. I'd rather call >1gb files MO client sliced to parts.
    ~250 & 3.5 mb files were patches.

Lolz ? 7-zip archive containing .torrents (txt files) downloaded by launcher ?

Seems you don't even know that .exe patches are encrypted, and cannot be unpacked manually (I'm not a cracker, thus I don't know how to omit encryption) to add malware.

    Do as you want.
Patches can be found on couple torrent trackers as well.
