how is lineage 2 really? ive read the reviews but its off and on, anyone can tell me what exactly lineage 2 focuses on? ive seen the trailers and they look awesome, but i have seen some bad reviews also
The only problem that I had with Lineage 2 was that it was tedious. The graphics, artwork, gameplay, and sound were very well done, but NCSOFT forgot that a game isn't suppose to be a job.
i will agree that the graphics are nice, good sounds. but, there are many problems with it. the community is horrible, there are a lot of bots and people that will (try to) scam you. it gets really annoying after you get ksed ten billion times by a bot, then kill the bot, and wow all of a sudden your name is red and everybody and thier mom wants to kill you. its just not a fun game, and its very hard to level (not to mention find friends), it would take me about two days to level (of 6-8 hours p/day) and more when you started getting to the 40's. but, if you like people cursing you out a lot, killing you, stealing your items, losing lots of xp from dying, and grinding almost non-stop. then be my guest.
I agree with all the above threads. The game looks and feels right, but... my personal gripes with the game are that firstly it does feel like a full time job to level up, if one wants to be competitive, and secodnly, for a PvP game, their PvP system is horrible.
I played it for a few weeks. I got tired of getting ganked by people about 15 levels higher than me for absolutly no reason other than I was just the closest target around. It makes it hard to grind when you're constantly getting jumped. I wouldn't recomend it at all. There are others who swear by it though. It just comes down to personal taste.
My friends quit lineage2 in disgust because they got screwed out of a clan house due to a game bug. Another clan outbidded them and won it. They ask on their forums why their customer service did not work and their threads ended up getting locked.
i belive all mmo's are the same concept. We grind to level every mmo has a grind that we go threw...all other mmo's has some sort of farming type of mechanics to get moeny besides bazaar and selling...but it really comes down if your dedicated and dont mind getting killed by pkers...i personally think its a good game if you have ALOTT of time on you hands but if you have that desire and patience then by all means get it.
one problem about Lineage2 is, most of the guys that "gave Lineage2 a try" in fact hardly gave it a try at all.
In order to give Lineage2 a try, you need to play at least 3-4 months minimum to being to understand the community and the tension of alliances and enemies in the lineage2 world.
I'm really generalizing but here goes:
lvls 1-20 a player gets to learn the game's basics. (1st month)
lvl 20-40 player begins to look for a suitable clan to join. (2-3 months)
also at lvl 32-40 player begins to get the first taste of large group exping. (9 people group for example)
lvl 40+ You enter the world of big raids (20 people+) and also Politics and Power balance. Siege capable as well. (5 months?)
lvl 50+ Player becomes known, clans will try to pull you out of the current clan you're in, or if you're not in one, recruit messages will be plentiful. Siege effective as well. More large raids.
60+ Important key players emerge, 500 person raids (possible) with some of the bosses. I'm here at the moment... taking a break, focusing on school, RL friends, u know how it is.
Lineage2 is quite a journey... I hope the people who have "gave lineage2 a try" can spend some more time and actually give Lineage2 a try for what it really is.
That's one reason why Lineage2 isn't as "popular" in the US because it really does take some time, but once you're in, you'll be playing for few years for sure. Lin2 = late bloomer (unfortunately)
I fear the MMORPGs that come out in the future will be designed to reveal everything about the game too quickly for the "consumer" to get good reviews. Not sure if future MMORPGs will target consumers that plan to play the game for 2 or more years... we'll have to see.
I became one of the highest prophets on the server at one time.
I fought after being scammed.
This game, you cannot trust any one.
You have to be so careful where you hunt because there are people using fake death and pulling mobs on you all the time.
Then you see some idiot attacking town guards just so they can go from level 30 to 19 to farm some more adena either for IGE/ebay or because money is so hard to come by.
What kind of Game sets up 100 adena as the over all drop, when your first good weapons cost 200,000
When you get to monsters that drop 900 gold, it takes 9 people to kill them.
If you die in the mean time, you lose your gear to a farmer or some one who wont give it back.
The entire community is always at arms against each other.
BTW my clan had a bug when we took Innadril castle on our server, it was captured, and engraved, but wouldn't declare us.
So the GM acknowledged the bug, told us they would fix it, and that we should try again....

I have played several MMORPGs, like Dark Age of Camelot, EVE: Online, World of Warcraft, Ragnarök: Online, Pristontale and of course Lineage 2. These game are quite similair at first, most of them are easy in the beginning and most of the game mechanics are unlocked already in the beginning of the game.
There are two games on this list which require that you play for a while to "earn" the sweets of the game. Those are EVE: Online and Lineage 2, I played EVE: Online for 3 months, which I quit. Reason why I quit? It was a good game but the skill system.. Hmm.. Not my taste.
Anyway after a month my friends had quit EVE too, we looked and tried lots of mmorpgs, after a while we found Lineage 2 which had just got an expansion, Chronicle 1. There was no trial on the game so we checked some forums, all we found on "MMORPG.com", "Lineage.com." was OMG THIS GAME SUX baha!! Farmer arghghghh. So then we went to a fansite for Lineage 2, (http://lineage.warcry.com/)
There we found ppl who loved the game, then after a while we brought the game and we didnt get dissatisfied at all, acctually we started to love the game too, we like hard games that offers challenge.
I have played since then, I admit WoW was intresting, I have heard so much about it, so i decided to try out the beta, I even ordered the game after that. It was new and challenging, we had played lineage 2 for about 6 months. So we knew most of the lands there. Anyways after 2 weeks of hardcore gaming we found out that, WoW has less to give than lineage 2 in the long run. So the game went to the recycle bin, we got back to Lineage 2, which was more fun than ever. I still play lineage, several hours a day.
Its a hard game, if you dont like challenges, then you dont like lineage 2.
I have heard so much whine about farmers, pkers, scammers. I know why, since most ppl who pk is people who are going to quit the game or people who seek revenge on those who pked them when they were low level. Most PKers stay at level 1-20 areas (The first month of the game).
That must be why most people dont like the game. Also the game had very much bugs, farmers in the first months of the game. But after Chronicle 2 (december 2004) it has been much less of the bad people. I believe most people who flames the game have played the game before Chronicle 2. The game is awesome now, its the most popular game in Korea (1/20 plays Lineage 2 there), they are very serious gamers .
Most people on the North American servers are 15+, so the community is good, i think. While WoW has many kids or people who dont know how to behave. Well I dont have any statistics of any the games, its just my experience of the games, I didnt play WoW that long after all.
Now some people must wonder, what more can he say to glorify that game. I am serious, the game doesn't suck that bad as people say, its just hard. But im totally with BumLife the game is a late bloomer.
What more... I would also recommend the Lionna server, for the nordic people lots of swedes, danish, norweigan and finnish people play on this server. Its medium with people here, not to many not to few. So the rooms arent full or the arent to few people to start a group at all places.
Last of all, this is a game for people who loves challenge and can at least spend 2 hours a day, If you dont play many hours a day, then I would recommend the dwarf, they have few fighting skills but they can craft, so you can set up AFK shops while you arent playing. They are very good players for beginners, they arent the funniest to play but they are able to make lots of adena! Which is more important than level in Lineage 2.
One absolute last thing (since i dont visit this site often), one problem with mmorpg.com is that its mainly a site for people who search for mmorgps, there are few people who play, for example Lineage 2 and come then come in here and say, whoho this game rox! Because they spend time on Lineage fansite forums where they can talk to people who love the game. But there are people who dont like this game, who visit mmorpg.com because they want to find another game. Thats why this game is so bashed I think.

I find lineage 2 pretty fun
Do not get it unless if you like to:
1. Grind
2. Group
3. Farm silly mobs for money
4. Grind
5. Hmmm... did I mention grind?
Do not be fooled by the graphics. I played it since Taiwanese version OB and North American Closed beta. I even subscribed to it twice.
It might be/seem fun at the beginning, but later it's all grinding and farming.

well! thats kinda funny because if you find my "what game now?" thread in this forum i put that on my list of games i would like to try!
maybe i should delete that. I am already glad i found this thread.
