While at the 2010 Game Developers Conference, MMORPG.com's Garrett Fuller got a look at the new iPhone app being developed by Icarus Studios as a companion to their post-apocalyptic MMORPG, Fallen Earth.
Many MMOs are starting to bring their games into other spaces. While forums have always been around for us players who were stuck at work all day and still want to engage in some kind of activity related to our game. Fallen Earth, however, is taking game play to a new level with its newly announced iPhone application. WoW has its Armory, but that is nothing compared to what the guys at Fallen Earth are doing with their application.
Icarus Studios is still deciding on a price for their app, but after seeing the demo, it will be worth the money for any player to download. In terms of functionality, it's simple and moves you quickly through its steps. The best part is that everything you do with the app, you do in game. No other MMO has anything like this and we were shocked by how much game play you could accomplish with this device. The iPhone app is already hooked into the live game when you launch it. You have access to your character, equipment, in game chat, auction house, crafting system, and even maps.

Very innovative, and I could use this little gem very well!
As a FE player and a HUGE trader/crafter - GIV!
Really this is 'zomg' in terms of development in MMOs, aye Blizzard did 'first' the App market but this is totally mindblowing. it's a huge shame I only have a Ipod and it's a bit counterproductive when I can easily login via the pc however 'FE on the go' I can see many just in guild chat 24/7 with this meaning your always connected to the guild giving it a true sence of community.
I hope CCP and Blizzard, hell even SOE pick up their game on the 'mobile MMO' bit because it's an indie slapping the 'big wigs' in the face with a fish atm - I love it!
Added: also notice one of the buttons state 'Conflict town'? yay in the pvp front!
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
Amazing.
Buuuuuuut, I'll never own an iPhone. They're too... kitchy. I prefer my cellphones to either A> Be a jitterbug, 2> Have a 3-foot-long antenna that I have to pull up out of it. Or D> Be that one from the first Lethal Weapon movie that has a 30 lbs box attached to a cord attached to a combat-boot-sized plastic phone.
Yeee, yeee, thats livin'.
I can see games in the future with mobile applications like this becoming huge... heck, does Eve have something like this for skill training? It would be epic if it did (maybe it does already, tbh no clue :S)
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
CCP said its in the works. soon (tm)
Nice. Very nice. I can't wait until I get my hands on this.
Great stuff. I'd get it, if I'd have an iphone.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
Don't forget the steampowered cellphones, that are delivered with a small tender providing it with coal and water. Sure, sometimes it might get annoying if during a phonecall you have to shout "Wait! I'm low on steam pressure!!" and throw in some more coals, but still...

I often ask myself "Is it good enough for that crazy, yet loveable, time traveling, Doc Brown and his flux capacitor?"
And if the answer is a resounding "YES IT IS." then I go for it.
Case in point, this steam powered telephone machine.
Wow. Have been so impressed with Fallen Earth LLC. Impressive results from an Indy Dev shop.
