Basic game problem, downloaded it and it wont run

olepiolepi Member EpicPosts: 3,080

I downloaded the client, went through all the patching, and now when I start MO I get this error:

The program can't start because d3dx10_41.dll is missing.

What should I do?

Doing a quick search of the problem popped up the basic beta starting post:

Now, specifically that problem you are encountering...

It looks like you will need to locate and update your DirectX which can be found here:

It would be nice if they could take the known issues and known fixes and some how incorporate them into the game.  (excluding driver issues)

    I win!!! LOL@U

I got it to work, downloaded the latest DX. drivers. The launcher was telling me to reload the game.  Games from 15 years ago loaded all the required components. Glad I asked on the forums and didn't re-download like it said to do.

So next I got into the game and it crashed my entire machine, a hard reboot. First time that has happened since I loaded Win 7, sigh.

So I get into the game again, and it is pitch black, except for some guy banging something with his torch. Somebody dies, seems like someone is killing noobs. I can see nothing except for a door that won't open and a path into the pitch black. This is a game?

..Yes. Plus floating animals, pigs underwater, exploding horses that get stuck crossing bridges, LAG, bad hit detection, hacks, lag, and nowgame.exe errors.

Something... or SOMEONE?! Someone on this forum said this game was like a prison simulation. I think he might have had a point.

In all seriousness though, that's what everything is like in this game. It's like I keep harping on about, SV claim they've added all the core features and you can technically say they have, but none of those features are well implemented or even finished. Instead of a proper night-day cycle, what you get is pitch blackness that pretty much prevents you from doing anything properly.

In a good game, the night/day cycle should impact gameplay in a positive manner, such as having some NPCs/wildlife spawn only at night or day. It shouldn't just block you from doing anything constructive for 3 hours. But like every other feature, it hasn't been thought through properly or even finished.

This is completly out-of-date feedback. Now, night got moonligth, depending of moon location. If you observe sun & moon, you can predict accurate if the night is going to be black... or not. Towns now got light sources, and most of major point of interest too.

About gameplay, night is very imoprtant, for "hunting" peoples, or doing other stuff. Just be imaginative, the cover of the night can be usefull too.

15 dollars a month AND I have to THINK and EXAMINE?!

    What is this... the 90's?

I watched a friend playing BioShock the other day... he was frustrated because the game wasn't telling him where his next quest objective was. He pulled up the map, pointed at the monitor with his finger, and said "See, they didn't put a marker!"

I asked him what the quest dialogue said...

He opened up the journal, read a few lines.... and said:

    "oh..."

I proceeded to punch him the face repeatedly, yelling "Where is your golden question mark now?!" over and over again at the top of my lungs.

Then I woke up from my day-dream, smiled at him and told him to think a little more about the area around him and the tools at his disposal... and  left the building.

    LMAO ^^
    Love the irony.

You should use a bucket filled with cold water, and some ice.
As some of the people know, talking short: compared to CPU, cooling the CTU (central thinking unit) should have a positive impact on its functioning.
