Hey guys.
Specs:
Processor: 3.80ghz Pentium 4
Motherboard: Dell, 0YF432 (A02) Model, Nvidia nForce4 SLI Intel Chipset with nForce 590 SLI Southbridge
4096MB of DDR2 Ram
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 7950GX2 1GB DDR3
OS: Windows XP 32bit
I take very good care of my computer, have the latest anti-virus, do my system maintenance, keep it clean. I have had no troubles in the past running games at a decent FPS, but after being humbled by BF BC2, it makes me question my computers life span. I bought it about 4 years ago from Dell, foolish I know. I have had 0 problems with any hardware thus far, but was curious to see that if it would be cheaper just to do some upgrades to my system or to just save up for a whole new rig, that I *will* be building myself this time. Thanks for any advice and criticism you can offer.

nha dont touch it it will still play game for years just use microsoft security essential for antivirus
speedguide.net got some nice tweak aside from that dont touch it
(maybe a ssd if you plan to have one in your futur computer, since they arent included in new system any way)
a ssd will up performance by a lot, just clean install your copy of xp on it and leave the rest as is till you get yourself a new computer .the ssd you ll put on will be good for your next gen computer when you do need one
wait till you see 64 bit game pop more .once you see game become more avail in 64 bit like runescape ,hellgate london
crysis etc.when other new title pop more often in 64 bit then upgrade
you will just slow your overhall experience with a w7 32 bit and new computer
(yep its that silly )computer have gone parallele nowadays and its very hard to get 3.8 from the factory
its often around 3 ghz some go as high as 3.3 but never 3.8
so with a new system you ll just slow your experience instead just add a ssd to your computer and you ll be set for at least 2 year!
Forgive my computer ignorance - what is ssd?
Solid State Drive, a hard disk with no moving parts. Very fast access speeds but quite expensive as yet.
Your PC seems ok for the moment, maybe a new graphics card if you are struggling with anything new. You do not have to upgrade everything at once.
man those are good specs for back in the day. my only advice is if u can still play your games then keep using it. if you can tolerate a few games that give low fps you should save your money till u really decide to upgrade. however, if you simply must play such-n-such game with max graphics then u might want to find someone to give that comp to (hand-me-down style) and get a new rig. you dont have to spend all that much for a new game machine either.
Stick to this one for another few years ide say because you don't need those shiny quad or octa cores...
I mean you have the powerfull CPU, the good DDR2 Ram and the good graphics card so you should be fine for a while yet ;-)
Simple answer, yes.
