EverQuest: 11th Anniversary Festivities; Steam Sale

MikeBMikeB Community ManagerAdministrator RarePosts: 6,555

EverQuest turns 11 today, and Sony Online Entertainment has kicked off 11 days of events to mark the occasion! The anniversary festivities include three new events: the Gifts of Steel Group Event, Stealing My Life Back Mission, and Steel Behemoths Raid, as well as seven returning events. You can find details on all the anniversary festivities here.

Steam is also offering a sale on the original EverQuest and all 15 expansions for the ridiculously low price of $2.50 from March 16th through March 26th. Check it out here.

Are you sure this offer includes all 15 expansion packs??

All I see if the 'starter pack' offer for £1.99, which I presume is EQ only, I'll not be going ahead with a purchase if that's all you get.

EDIT- I'll shut up now, it does indeed say all 15 exp packs. Good ol' Gabe Newell.

I just grabbed this and can confirm that it does include the original Everquest and

all expansion except for the most recent, Underfoot.

Is Everquest worth it to play in this modern day and age?

NOTE:  If you have an existing account with SOE for everquest this is not valid.  If you do the game is free currently anyway. . at least it still was today for me.  I actually had quite a bit of fun playing it.

    Disclaimer:

30-day subscription included for new accounts only (existing EverQuest and Station Access accounts are not eligible to receive gameplay included with purchase). Afterwards, a Monthly Subscription Fee of $14.99 applies (plus applicable tax).

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

There is still fun to be had with the old girl, it is the MILF of gaming.

Sorry... I see this as a bit of a waste. They are giving you all previous expansions for 2.50... yet not the most recent expansion. The current expansion is 40.00 and comes with ALL of the other expansions.

So... its not really that much of a sale.

If you've never played EQ, stop now and buy this... Lots of fun (or at least it was) but its been years since i've played and I couldnt tell you whats changed.

Hell, I may pick this up, start a new account just to see...

Is chess? Is tennis? Is backgammon? Is pool?  A classic never goes out of date.

That said, if you haven't played EQ before, be warned: it is HUGE. It's very easy to be overwhelmed just by the sheer scale that over a decade of continual development brings.

Even if you played years ago there will be a lot that's unfamiliar. For anyone coming to EQ for the first time on this offer or returning after a break of a few years, the single thing I would suggest you do above all others is get a mercenary.

Mercenaries were added in the expansion before the current one, Seeds of Destruction and they are game-changing. With a mercenary, EQ pretty much becomes a single-player game at least as far as levelling your character goes. If you have one other person to group with and you pick the right classes, with mercenaries there isn't much non-raid content below the level cap that you won't be able to do,

this guy is right !this game is huge !dont rely on the map to have a basic idea clic on any icon in the map and then you ll begin to see what we mean

the game is nice especially where graphic have been redone

but its a first person view game yes the option to be 3 person view is there but it made as an aftertaught

so result of 3 person view isnt spectacular

but the first person view ho men it make the game come alive same for eq2

this is mostly a solo game now a day not because its a bad game but because player are leaving p2p game for free to play game!

For that price I will take a look. I haven't been back to Norrath since Luclin. Should be neat.

Yeah, I'd like to know that as well.

I really like PVP but from what I understand the Zek server is not as good as it once was.

I played on TZT back in the day.

I played on Cazic Thule and Ayonae Ro server right after it was brought up.
