Question about demo and beyond.

BlazeyerBlazeyer Member UncommonPosts: 562

Sooo I basically just finished the demo. Saved the city, walked to the helicopter, clicked z to jump in...interacting... bar fills... nothing. Tried to hop in the heli a few more times but nothing, switched my destination from canada to the desert and still nothing. Is this the point where I need to have the actual game to jump in?

Also, and more importantly, is this game worth it? My friend and I both were playing the demo and had a good time.

Finally, I'm wondering how much partying really is a factor because it seems pretty soloable based off the demo. If it is group based how specific are roles within groups (healers/tanks/dd's)?

Thanks.

If you enjoyed the demo/tutorial zone I think you'll enjoy the rest of the game.  You can probably get a copy of the game for a good price right now and during the 30 days trial period you'll see enough to make up your own mind if you want to subscribe or not.

Teaming is a funny one. As you know the game doesn't have a class system, so you can build your characters however you want (more or less). You can build a strong enough character to solo most things, and people do and then complain that the team-based content is too easy, or you can build a character who will work better in a team than on their own.

That said, I think the biggest problem when it comes to teaming is that support characters who specialise in healing and crowd-control very often don't have much to do in teams of 3 or more.

Generally though, CO is a pretty different game to most others. It's not a "if it's a number make it bigger, if its a bar make it longer" game, and if you play it that way you might come away unsatisfied.

Most MMOs give you a fairly narrow set of options for building your character and a big part of the challenge of those games is to navigate those options to make the strongest character you can. In CO those build options are thrown wide open and that challenge isn't part of the game, and I think that that goes against most people's MMO "training".

I hope that one day Cryptic give us difficulty sliders or missions that scale to the relative strength of characters/teams so that more playstyles can get satisfaction from the game.

TL;DR - Yeah give it a go. If you team make team friendly characters and see how you go. Don't be worried about alting to find the kind of character that works with the kind of teaming you want to do.

Oh yeah, and the Nemesis system is great. It's something to look forward to hitting level 25 for ;)
