Need cheapest graphics card for ROSE online.

InhellationInhellation Member Posts: 11

Hi, this is my first post.

In a bit of a rush right now, my son is eating his cot ;)

Does anyone know what the cheapest graphics card is - so I can play ROSE online? I have no experience with graphics cards.

I have an old computer right now which has been messed about with lol. It's an Intel Celeron 1.3GHz with 512MB Ram. I just want it to be able to run ROSE online smoothly and very cheaply for now, I will be getting a new computer in the not so distant future.

Thanks for any help :)

lmao.. i read that way too fast... i thought cot was something lewd ANYWAY.

in responce to your question. do to ROSE being a very old game to today standards ANY newer video card PCI/PCI-E16 or even AGP will run it. all you basicly need is a 128mb video card.

tho you can easily get a decent nvidia 256mb card for 50-150bucks (depending on the country you live in)

or a simple ATI card for about the same.

all you really need to make sure is if your motherboard can support AGP or PCI video cards.

i havent played ROSE in quite some time. BUT any video card should play it decent 128mb should do you just fine.  its not age of conan or anything like that, which needs 256mb base and Dx10 lol so your very lucky there.

    hope that helps some what.

(good tip is to find out what exactly your motherboard is make wise and see if its AGP or PCI., get the brand name and type then just search their site should help you :) )

I imagine a PC that old has an AGP slot rather than a PCI-e slot. Best check that before you buy a card online.

I can confirm this is correct . All motherboards have agp slots from celeron 1.3 era (it is actually P3 era ) ,btw be sure you have an agp slot for video card .Some motherboards even did not have agp slot than.

Bah, I just found out that even if I do wait until I can afford a decent graphics card - I will have to update my power supply too if it isn't strong enough... Nothing is simple!

I suppose it is time to open my computer up. I heard there is a fairly decent card which doesn't require any additional power though, but I can't find out what it is called!

Right, I finally opened the computer up. I am sorry for being such a newbie. Anyway, I have a PCI slot available - and I have a 230watt power supply. So I can now narrow down my options.

So, my new question... which PCI graphics card will run with my current power capabilities which is cheap and effective at playing Rose online. I may even try WoW one day, so it will be a bonus if it can run that. (but not a neccessity).

    Thanks lol.

regular pci mm you ll have to check online my advice buy a new computer p4 3gig with agp included you ll get it for 100$

and you ll have everything p4 3g were fast even by taodays standard they made them till p4 3.8 so computer still have a long way to go to outdo the p4

just buy the best p4 it will be cheap!

as cheap as any graphic card and everything will be in it!

is it PCI or PCI-E?, you're best bet is to go down to you're local PC swap met/market and get a card dirt cheap, buying old hardware "new" will cost you an arm and a leg because they don't make it anymore

    You wont need a PSU

the agp will be black and the pci will be white ,others will be other color!

It is a normal PCI slot, not express...

Is this a decent card? Will 230watts run it?

For ROSE Online it is such an old game and an mmo.  You shouldn't need that good of a graphics card.  Infact you can run the game flawlessly with a modern day ATI or nVidia IGP.  What matters is the processing power and the memory.  Your processor and memory are not too hot.  For about $200 you can upgrade you mobo to meet the video, processing, and memory maximums.
