not me, thats like saying hey lets play Ever quest 1 and ever quest 2. Whats the point let a almost decade game die a lready. I mean ffxi was an "ok" game for it's time. But it had its flaws like character controls felt cluckly and ui was horrid, but the cutscenes were cool. I have high hopes for ffxiv. And I know square knows what a mmo should feel and look like now adays and what brings in people...so hopefuly it turns out great.
Probably not going to play both, just the one I enjoy the most. I guess its all personal preference about controls and UI.. I like them quite well actually.
I probably won't play both, I don't currently play FFXI.
I will play both if Square was to do a package deal like.. "Play FFXI and FFXIV for $20.99/month"
But there is just something about paying $15.00 a month for both games that I just can't get with. I have the money to do it but I really just don't want to pay more than one subscription a month for video games. D=

how the hell do people have the TIME to play 2 mmo's?
Playing one is worse already... XD
True that, expecially FFXI that already takes up enough of my time. But I think i remember SE saying something that they made XIV more casual so that you can play both games... Im kinda buzzed so im not to sure about htis part but I think they said they were going to make it possible to be able to talk to people in FFXI.. IDK if they ment it as in you can talk to an LS while in XIV or what....... Im probably way wrong with the last part but oh well.

You play 2 MMO's by not focusing all your time one one.. its simple really.
I play 2, because if I play 1.. I get burned out on it so fast I'm quitting before I get started get. By playing two, I can alternate back and forth.

FFXI is a game that requires a huge time investment, it's not the type of MMO you can play alongside another one. I also expect the 'casual' stuff SE has commented on for XIV to only be a small part of the game, I still expect there to be a huge amount of challenging group content. If you were to be subscribed to both XI and XIV you'd find that one of those subscriptions is wasted; you just wouldn't have the time to actually make decent progress.
I don't think it will be possible in a few months. FFXI will soon have a level cap increased so players will most likely try to hit that cap and then bring along there other jobs to meet the restrictions. When its done the player will need to get around 2mil exp to hit the 99 cap with 1 job. With the way the system works now you can expect huge time sinks involved with that.
I personally wont do it. I already cancelled my FFXI account. I gave whatever gear I had away so I am finished.

.... Yeah...what?
Yeah, lets kill something off just because it's old(nor not). Hell how old are you? Maybe your first born should be killed off after it's a decade old. LOL.
You dont just shut something down because it's a decade old , and its not dying by any means at the moment.
Saying it's "an" okay game is just your opinion which doesn't speak for everyone.
And square enix knows how to make a good game, not what brings people in and how they should look and feel ( i got feeling you support a lot of WOW clones) . And its not going to be a wow clone (which is what you're describing).
It will be its own breed of MMO( as we expect) and will draw in a niche crowd as FFXI as i forsee it.

am on this one, and also if you stick to your old MMO you wont get to enjoy your new, in most cases ppl wont bother build a new community and go back to the old....human the lazy animal, and if you make no efford get to know ppl you will most time end up play solo....and MMOs are horrid singleplayer games, in most cases.
imo peeps should do themself the favor to focus on one MMO

probably not but it would be nice if SE gave a discounted price for FFXI if you are subscribed to both
I'm gonna do it.
To be the best, you must help each other become the best.
FFXI Character: Satimasu
FFXI Server: Valefor
FFXIV Character: Tamorae Fonteil
