First i want to say i love Mortal Online. (Wait. Keep reading.) I log in about 3-5 hours a day and send daily bug/exploit/glitch reports in and i am also active on the forums. They are indeed working hard on this game and round the clock i might add.
They are in constant communications with the players through the forums moderators. No. We have not recieved any word on release because hey, guess what: They are too busy working on the game. There is a steady stream of hot fixes and mini patches every week.
If i were in their shoes and release was this month, i'd be busy ironing out the kinks down to the very last second. Alot of open beta players i've come across are also doing their best to bring every issue we find to them as well.
Call me a fanboy or a supporter (not really sure how that could even be considered an insult) but i feel like this game will do just fine. I could careless if your need for being kept up to date every second isn't satiated. I for one don't require it.

Is that what you think this thread is about? You said you were a fan, but when is the point where it gets to be unbearable?
I didn't miss my mark. That's exactly what this thread is about. You want an update. (Glances at title) Okay. I would also like an "offcial" update myself, but i can also understand why there isn't one.
You're an intelligent person rlmccoy, and you understand how this process works. MO isn't the first game to release out of the blue, because they had to hurry their game out, due to pressure from investors and publishers.
I'm trying to keep this from sounding like a direct comment towards you, but..... This almost appears to be a troll post. Okay. There is no update but we can use common sense and figure out why. Do you play Mortal Online? Haven't you witnessed yourself how quickly a server is back up when it crashes. Witnessed the constant flow of communication from the devs or through their moderators?
Nothing can be considered "unbearable" when it comes to a beta. Otherwise you are missing the point of beta. Rollbacks, check. Server crap itself, check. Devs busy re-writing last minute code for server optimization, you bet.
The investors needs to hire Derek Smart! I'm pretty sure he would actually be able to make Mortal Online work well. Guess I can keep on dreaming though.
Well I don't see the need to get so uptight, sure I'd love to hear from them about this and other stuff once a week but it rarely happens like that. All I know is that I'd rather hear nothing for a while and get some truths every couple of weeks than suffer the constant bombarbment of BS I got with AoC.
Wether it will launch officialy or not or when is up to the gods to decide for us and SV, atleast I can play for free and know what it is I'm getting myself into and I appreciate that more than anything else. The same happened with FE, I was going to buy it but tried the OB and decided the game wasn't what I thought it would be but full marks to the developers for being up front about their product.
I'd like more regular updates from the developers but I can play the game in the mean time so it's not that bad, really I'm more interested in hearing about patches to fix existing problems than when it may or may not launch.

3) That last link is uselss, the devs have not posted in it so why even link it?
1) Somehow I doubt that
2) Then there are no updates. They're probably still trying to pin that down, and will specify a release date once they have a bead on the critical issues. If those prove harder to tackle than they expect, we may see another couple weeks of delay before release.
3) 'Cause it was asked for. And the links posted for it led to the wrong pages. (see post #22 and #23)

I don't see a post 22 or 23 in that link... it leads to 9 posts of people begging Sv for information about release and about sending the promised release DVD in time to play... but getting no response.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. Post 22 and 23 in THIS thread is what I meant (where you and rlmccoy refer to the thread)
It amazes me in some ways what people will put up with. Granted the same excuses will apply. They are indie, they are small, they are trying to fix one of the million critical issues. It takes roughly 5 minutes to update something to say whats going on. Only MMO players would tolerate this because I think we can agree it would be acceptable for no other product.
5 minutes to update us, yet they take off the entire weekend due to Swedish labor laws...
Has anyone heard of anything new about the launch? They told everyone they were releasing at the end of this month (March 2010) but as usual, they will not post any actual update threads.
What is going on with this game?
PS - I heard the desync is still a major problem also.
[Mod Edit]
Why do you care? Its not like you going to play it anyways right?
What do you know? I'm still playing in the Open Beta and do enjoy the game to some extent, but denying the game's major flaws is madness.
So what is wrong with me wanting for SV to get their shit together? Get lost man....
Maerlyn broke his back, that's why there have been no updates... Wonder why the developers can't update themselves. Maerlyn's updates are normally only 3 sentences anyway...

Sorry, but I have to call BS on this one... "broken back"? Jesus man, that's a life threatening condition, is he paralysed? Somehow I doubt it's the truth since it's a bit dramatic, however if it is the truth I wish Maerlyn a speedy recovery.
But if they are lying about this -- then I hope they burn in hell.

I also have to call BS on that. Like you said, he would be paralyzed with a tube feeding him if he had a "broken back"
Wonder if this will be the first MMO release to be delayed because the Community Manager was unavailable to post a release date... 6 days before the end of the release window...
Why not just say March 31st at this point and be done with it?

The part "away for 1-2 days" is more than enough to know that it's BS, it's possible that Maerlyn is injured, but a broken back? Nah.

Bullshit, you don't HAVE to take the entire weekend off in Sweden due to labour laws.

From following them since the first day of closed beta (back in July) that is what they do. They take entire weekends off as they are only allowed to work a certain number of hours a week.

They're self-employed, and therefore can set their own rules surely. It's just an excuse, are the police going to raid their office on suspicion of working on a saturday?

As to why your post led to the wrong address, I don't know, since you had "www.mortalonline.com/forums/39167-release-heads-up.html" as the address (i.e. without the extraneous http)
