Which one will come out on top? Guild Wars or WoW? I have heard excellent reviews from Guild Wars and i have played WoW. WoW is awesome but its lacking in a few areas in the game, like grouping and quests, but it has an excellent pvp system (raiding). I have heard a lot about Guild Wars, i have seen the site, but it lacks in profession classes from my poinf of view. Im a big pvp fan so i am waiting for Guild Wars to release.

These games are far too different in their scope and implementation to merit a direct comparison.
Exactly, but if you were to guess which would be the best of the two, I would have to go with WoW. Only because it is an MMORPG and Guild Wars is more of an MOG (multiplayer online game). By that I mean; In WoW, you are in the same realm as 1000+ different people at the same time; in Guild Wars, you are in a 3D lobby were you can buy and trade but then venture off into instances by "door". This is what I mean by door.
Think of a big circle. There are 3 doors that exit from this circle. Each one leading to a different place. To me this makes it a game, and not an experience. From what I experience and seen reaction from other people. They want to get immersed into an experience, not play a game.
Though you never know.
I want to know exactly how you think WoW is lacking in grouping and questing? It's got the most extensive quest system of any MMO out period. Not to mention that the end game requires nothing BUT grouping. Most games kind of push you to solo most of the time early on, but WoW even put in instances at lower levels to encourage people to group. You got a lot of explaining to do :P
Ok, first of all the grouping sucks... you have more benefits soloing than in a party, the only time u usually party is if u need help with a quest, the quest system is boring...u are practically doing the same thing over and over, lv 60 is too ez to obtain, it isnt that hard, and u can get it in 2 months. Also when u say that guild wars is not an MMORPG, i really dont know because i havent played it for myself as i had said before, but i am not quite satisfied with WoW, i believe it is too overrated.

I wouldn't directly compare the games, they're two different in playstyle... It's like saying what's better EQ1 or Diablo2?
Shadus
True Shadus, but if i had 2 choose i would say GuildWars, DEFENITELY GuildWars, coz it looks more realistic, took longer 2 make, there is more work in GW then WoW, thats why i like it, in WoW u still know ur in a game, while playing GW, i often 4got that
@sog3n, btw....in GW u often have no other choice then 2 team-up, coz a group of undead mages isnt a piece of cake for a lonely wannabe hero, for instance ......unless u wanna go

I agree with the general comments that these are two very different games.
I think WOW is for the more general gaming crowd, almost the mass market audience, while any strongly
P vs P game (like Guild Wars) seems to be for hardcore P vs P'ers (which are a smaller group).
I agree, they are far differnt. I think that WoW will have more players, but it all depends on your opinion. Guild Wars look like it will be more of just straight forward kill, level and explore. WoW is more of a kill, quest, explore and then other things (auction house, battlegrounds etc.)

No offence, but this is what I HATE about these kind of people.... they say that all quests are the same in WoW! There is kill X many things, retrieve X many things, deliver this, talk to this guy... what more do you want? Fly to Ironforge and buy yourself new armour??? What other games have better quests? Also, occasional you have Heal this guy, follow this guy, get a pet etc.

I agree with you guys saying these games are different...
My vote goes with WoW I have a pre-order of GW and I really dont find the game fun, something about it I dont like...Maby its just me though
I'd bet on WOW of the two.
Too bad there isn't an OPEN beta for GW so we can find out for ourselves!
Sad that those of us with very little funds to buy games don't get the opportunity to pretest games like these 2 WITHOUT paying to do so.
DOH!
At least I agree with GW on their "buy once, pay free online" plan.
Tried to signup and play GW on the "Weekend Only" Beta only to find out that one has to have a "preorder" key to play in it! (or beg a friend for a "key" to play this game.)
In the recent past, game companies trusted us, their potential gamer (end-users), by letting us "beta test" (test drive) their software for "Free". This is a trend that the new companies need to return to in order expose their game to more gamers.
I've often purchased gaming software based on getting addicted to a game's demo.
Many times I have ruled out purchasing (a lot of the) games because they just didn't make the "must buy" criteria that I use to evaluate games.
Wow, based on 45 votes Guild Wars and WoW both have 45.7 percent of the votes. Looks like it's a tie.
Well, to start off, I believe Guild Wars will be the better MMORPG. It features amazing graphics and realistic weather conditions, including the most popular Lighting System. GW's Quests are well thought out, and they would lead you to new locations almost everytime.
World of Warcraft, on the other hand, is still a good MMORPG, yet it lacks some features that may improve gameplay. I would like to see some sort of graphics change, and then it will suit me fine.
Hello All,
I have been told many a thing about WoW. It's this and it's that; it's this great and it has that, which is something we mmorpg players have been waiting for to be done correctly forever...and the banter continues...
Sadly though, after spending a little over a month playing WoW I have discovered that those people that told me all this stuff, just dropped a HUGE notch in respectability and value of opinion in my books. WoW is nothing short of blah. It's just like EQ2. It's friggin blah. The good thing is that it's blah with cool and nifty graphics, just like EQ2.
I know that doesn't sound like I'm being fair. I think I am being fair. More than BOTH those games deserve. AFAIC, Guild Wars has both of them beat AND still has enough staying power to kick all of the remaining MMOs in the @$$ while just about take over the market.
I for one will probably do with GW like I did with D2. I will end up installing it after EVERY fresh install of Windows since Windows 95. (I used win95 until win98 became undeniably stable) If I look through my gaming journals over the past 10 years, I could easily spot how many hours I played D2. And THAT is more than all the other games I've played combined.
Immersive - shefurzgive! The time I've spent in D2 is NOT because it was "so immersive". It's because it was accessible. It was easy to fire it up, punch in my username and password, click a couple buttons and be playing online; or if I wasn't in the mood I'd just do single player faster, than a chicken can peck it's neck.
GW will do just fine. It will capture it's intended audience with ease. It will be well received by first time online gamers. It will be easy enough, like D2, that Grandma and Grandpa will be able to play too. It's a nice looking game. It's got a very powerfull means of delivering the content to the end user via download that is extremely efficient. I mean, wake up! It's about time other companies started taking notes from these guys. I'm absolutly behind GW because I see it as the "new wave" of delievery and content type for "next gen" MMOs.
If I'm mistaken about anything I've stated, then please correct me. But insofar as I've stated, I'm not far off the mark of reality. The GW devs have done a commendable job and will hopefully be rewarded tenfold for their efforts.
GW is the first game in years that might outdo D2's sleeper success.
Thanks,
Carrara
If you mean which will I be playing - Guild Wars!
