Is there roleplaying in Darkfall???

OK I am currently playing on an RP server on WOW and am pretty much enjoying it. However, I want something different now. I downloaded and tried MO and wasnt that impressed. Yes I know it is in beta so will probably give it another go once the devs have had a chance to fix all the bugs. I am thinking of giving DF a go and was gonna try the 1 euro trial for a week.
I guess before I do I would like to know if there are any RP'ers in DF? And are they quite active and friendly? As a FFA PVP game is RP possible?

RP is Darkfall is very different from most other MMOs. And im used to RP a lot.
In DF you dont have to pretend (RP) many of the things you do in other games. It is for real. And all the kicks you got from RP you get for real : )
It might sound strange......but you will be scared for real, aggressive, heroic, coward....everything will be for real. You wont be able to say you are brave......and then run for your life when you think you hear something.

Wow I must say that sounds pretty awesome. I am downloading the game now. One more question and I will stop bothering everyone. You said that RP is different and you explained it in a very interesting and exciting way. What about guild types??? For example military guilds. Do they RP? Like do players do parades in there guild cities and station player guards, promotion etc???
I am going to give it a go anyway but would just really like to know what to expect.

There are plenty of RPing clans. I know of a few.
My initial experience with DF was excellent, mostly because I met a fantastic RPer and it just made the game that much better. You just have to find the right people I guess, there are RPer out there in Darkfall.
The way the RP was explained is somewhat true, as I did feel like things that were going on around me were for real and not simply imagined. Sometimes, though, emotes can really help. You may see me standing there in the midst of a brawl, but if I am terrified, you'd never know unless I could express it somehow (beside running!). I wish DF had many more emotes and moods, like the old SWG had, so that characters emotions and feelings could be expressed for RP purposes.
hehe yeah, people play roles in DFO they can't in real life. I bet they don't even think they roleplay. But they actually do. They scam and greif, they help and respect, they fight recklessly, they run cowardly, they act with honor, they act with mean... Agon is a big roleplaying world where you don't have to be a roleplayer to roleplay.
Darkfall does have emotes, type /help in chat box and you'll find the command to just list the emotes or find the emotes in the list of other commands.
Yes those are all very reall effects of when a PvP world reallly works..But does roleplaying really work in the Darkfall community ?..

I'm sure there is a few good players and roleplaying guilds in Darkfall, but what I'm also sure of is that there is more ugly players in that game than there is roleplayers(real roleplayers), not those that kills you then tells you that they play a serial killer ..;)
My answer to your question is - No the internet community today is NOT ready for a REAL roleplaying experience, and for the roleplaying experience to work fully all players needs to play with the same mindset, just as you do when you play Pen and Paper RPG's..ex No silly names, take the lore seriously etc etc..You can ofcourse be a murderer and many other things, but very few murderers kill at random as in most MMO's today or Darkfall.
If you really roleplayed your characthers in Darkfall you would be in for a serious disadvantage in all occasions, for instance you would never be able to talk you out of most combat situations unless the killer is a roleplayer himself and not after your PHAT LEWT

I havent experienced much per say but I will say that every night in Darkfall feels much more emmersive then any other MMO I've played in 5+ years of gaming. If the chat system is fixed I would expect to be potentially one of the best roleplaying MMOs out right simply because everything ingame feels "real" already.
I did some casual RP in plenty of other MMOs but imo Darkfall surpasses them all simply because everything ingame feels more realistic. But I may as well be honest with ya...there are times you'll almost drop a load in your shorts when your out doing some pve/pvp. So don't expect a laid back, rpers paradise because Agon defiantly isnt that...

How you know for sure that every Darkfall player is not a roleplayer in such a perfect way that you don't know if he is killing you for loot but for roleplay purposes and just pretend to be a homicidal maniac ? ;P

Good luck with the RP in DFO. I would expand on my statement but,I believe it would be better for you to experience the "DFO" world for yourself. Then you would be in a better position to judge whether DFO is for you.
You are the most immersed player I have ever met. The police would find me at night long before I could ever reach that level of immersion.
That is a bit out there, but back when i first started playing...people would call out PK's right near our city. I would jump on our walls with my bow out, shaking. To say there is no tension is faulty. There is a lot more depth to the fights and you really see who is a coward or courageous. Those who are willing to run in and fight head on or those who want to stand back and use their magic.
Only in DF you can roleplay innocent victim of notorious killer "Cunny Funt".
DF is not good platform for roleplaying, unless you like to immerse yourself in world full of murderers, where you can trust noone.
I'd wait until AV will fix broken and exploitable alignment system, so reds will stay permanently out of newbie areas, before trying any roleplaying there.
I totally disagree! The Darkfall community is not nearly as bad as you make them out to be . .. the alignment system is fine how it is . .. sure you may get killed by a blue and then see him banking in the town later on safely, but this is a no-instance game so you should remember who that person is and unlike other games you can get playback!
Think of other games! All other MMORPGs that I have played have so much more fluff and graphics that remind you that it is just a game. Floating numbers, large circles around the mobs, auto-attack, no dodging, invisible walls, glowing paths, stupid cartoony graphics, auto-aim, no using cover, steath seems fake and retarded, mobs seem fake and retarded, glowing exclamation points above quest-giver's head, ETC.
I love to turn off my maps and chat so that everything looks real and I can put on headphones and get totally absorbed in it. It is much easier to pretend that this game is real when you compare it to other games!!
The 'real' feel is the main thing that made me stick around. How it feels to fight mobs and the insane adrenaline rush that you get when engaged in PVP. The elated feeling of success when you win and the feeling of getting hit in the stomach when you lose. No other game that I have played has made me 'care' about my character and what is going on as much as this one. No instances!! Everything that you do is kept track of and eventually people will get to know you for how you present yourself, just as you will always remember who your enemies and friends are.
Word of advise:
Do not stop customizing your UI/controls and practicing because once you are able to react accordingly without looking down at your keyboard or thinking about how to make your character do something this game becomes MUCH funner! Using headphones is a plus too!

There is role playing in every game if YOU want to do it! Why, just last night my wife and I were doing this thing with her dressed in a short skirt and I had a waud of cash....OOPS wait, sorry wrong game.
