I don't really care if eastern or western. Both try to make the user create characters that look like underwear models of some sort. I want a well-designed ugly looking char. A fat bald one-eyed woman with a pike or a rocket launcher, something like that. Not these tiny cuties every MMORPG forces us to create. Blegh
.anyone here who prefer to have fugly girlfriend/boyfriend or fugly social friend?
.anyone here want to be fugly and dupid?
:in the end, we all want to enjoy online game which has decent story line, minimum level of grind tolerance. But the most important is an awsome, sexy, baddass looking character.

Speak for yourself. I play games to be a part of an engaging story, to solve puzzles, mysteries, and fight my way through overwhelming odds to come out victorious. Games like TERA are such a turnoff because, like most any eastern MMO, it's all about how much buttcheek can they get away with while still calling that chainmail bikini a viable piece of armor. And don't get me started on the annoying way female characters stand, like an overexaggerated supermodel mannequin. Just awful and totally over the top.
Eh, who cares. Personally I prefer the over-the-top sexiness of female characters. If I am going to stare at a character model through countless levels and whatnot, might as well be something pleasing.
I'll take AoC animations any day over Eastern animations. Although, I could really care less either way. What gets me, is the SOUND effects given to eastern character animations. Those must go. I can't take any more high pitched screeches or grunts and yells every time I swing a sword or do a roundhouse kick, and EVERY eastern MMO I've played all have the same sound effect style in their combat. Drives me nuts!
I have to totally agree with the sound effects. Animations and art direction to me are not that important, I like both the east and west. But the eastern combat sound effects of grunts and squeals sounds more like an orgy between underaged girls and huge hulking men than any kind of combat. Quite offputting.
If I play this game I think I would have to play a female character - it has nothing to do with the fap fap factor it's just that the males look quite uninspiringly metrosexual, as usual from eastern games, and that just does not interest me.
What you need to realise by combat animations, is that there are two different massive cultures behind the games. This does not make the games bad in any way, but it's just you not being able to cope with another cultures view on how combat should be. This isn't a bad thing, per say. But you mistake the definition of a bad game.
TERA is by no means a bad game because of it's animation. It's different than the westernised, and so should not be put in some sort of ring to compare with the western MMO's.
Let me explain it in more detail. Consider both MMO's as a sort of theatrical entertainment media. Eastern MMO combat are more of a theatrical dance. Something we can link this to, is for example how the fight scene between Nameless and Sky in Jet Li's Hero is much like a dance scene in itself. It's flashy, and sometimes over the top, but that's because that is the style of it. It's a dance between two different contestants, a fatal dance.
Yet, western MMO combat animations, are akin to Hollywood fantasy films. It sounds odd, I know. But bare with me. For example, let's take Lord of the Rings. The fights are much more gritty, and realistic to a point, and it isn't made to be some sort of dance.
Now, would you state that Lord of the Rings is a better film than Hero? No, you can't, because they are two different films, and completely different genres. It's much like the animations in eastern and western MMO's, they're completely different, because they are aimed at complete different audiences. That doesn't make either of them bad.
I've played AoC for around a year, and I've played WoW since it came out. And I've also tried Aion for a few months. I've loved them all. All of them have their flaws. But that flaw is never their animations, or graphics. Because unlike many, I can admire different types of graphical content, and animation. What I do flaw, are things in the game, that actually count. Like content.
I mean, what good is AoC's gritty realism and fantastic fatalities, if all there is to the game is mini games, and zerg world PvP, added with sieges that don't work?
Likewise with Aion. What's the point of having such beautiful graphics, if as a melee class, mainly assassin's, you can't hit enemies as soon as they start moving because of the flawed combat system?
As for the chicks wearing little to no armour. Blame such things on the media. But remember, it's a game. A fantasy game. Anything is allowed, and will be done for the masses. Or atleast for the people who whine the most.
I tell you what though. If a hot chick, wearing little to no armour that pushed against her bust, came to recruit me for her army, I know for certain, that I would sign up. And I'm certain so would the majority of other men.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
