Yea that vid's been here for about a week or so... It is pretty slick and I do hope it's a teaser from the WoD mmo... I just wish CCP would come out with some more info on the game.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
That's going to kill your framerate.
Also, CCP appears to have finally clarified what we've all been thinking: Their MMO is going to be about pretty vampires dressing up.
i think buying white wolf would be an overkill if that was their intention,
tbh im impressed, CCP are not known for their modeling or texture skills, WOD will actually be their first full avatar mmo.
This was my biggest concern, but after seeing this video, its obvious they are putting time and effort into the avatars.
lets just hope that they dont follow the crowd for the rest of the game design, its been their strongest asset so far,
I'm guessing this game is nowhere near being released since you'll need a monster rig from the future to run it :P My guess is, releasedate 2013.
Nothing has been clarified about this game other than IP which is being used.
"Their MMO is going to be about pretty vampires dressing up." No, that's a movie series called "Twilight".
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
I've read in places that this MMO was slated for a 2010 release, but that seems very doubtful since CCP hasn't even launched a website for it.
As for the vid, something tells me this sort of rendering will not be implemented (at least not at that level) into the WoD MMO exactly as seen in this video because yes... framerates would tank, and not many nvidia cards even support Physx.

WTHeck are you talking about??

Have you watched anything on Absolution?? CCP's skills with Modeling and Textures are well known. And their Engine that it will Run on looks to alow Massive ammounts of Freedom to make your Charictor not just a carbon copy of the buy next to you...
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

No, Twilight is about blatant author avatar and Mary Sue-ism with a good lashing of purple prose.
You should try LARPing Vampire. =p
I bet WOD's last boss raid will drop a unique lipstick or maybe some reaaaaaaalllly high heeled shoes.
what a joke of a game its going to be, the MMO version of facebook for 15yo vampire-wannabe gals, all called Bella, Bell@, B3ll@, Be11a.....
have fun, WOD fans
You must not be real familiar with White Wolf or their games and their community, then. Now, I'm not saying there won't be people who embrace (pun intended) that line of thinking who will play the game. Overall, though, White Wolf games can be some of the most brutal, visceral settings for games out there. And that's because of their players mainly.
Edit: And what's wrong with the game looking nice? I mean, sheesh. If it didn't look nice people would be breaking keys on their computer to jump in and say that it looks ugly and that it was "trash".

Well poke fun if you will, but it's clear that pretty vampires dressing up is at least one of the angles they're pushing.
I may criticize EVE for being a lousy game of tedious timesinks, but I'll never criticize their aesthetic style. They might have the best aesthetic sense of the entire games industry, what with bringing in real architects to design their stations and ships (at least that's what I heard they did.) That strength of CCP will undoubtedly shine through in WOD.

The vampire thing doesn't do it for me, but let me play a werewolf and rip up some of those emo vampires and I am all in >=)
On this I 100% agree. Just about everytime I see an EvE add or screenshot I stop and admire it for a few seconds. If WoDO hits on the majority of the key gameplay points I want in an MMO (and believe it or not I'm not really interested in crafting for this setting - If they have a good crafting system I'll use it most assuredly but crafting isn't on my list of must haves for this setting) CCP will most likely become the only company I can say with a great measure of confidence that I "trust".

World of Darkness is just a framework game for putting all the other White Wolf games in the same game universe. It does indeed look like CCP will be using Vampire: The Requiem to start off with, however they can expand the game in a dozen new directions easily.
They way I imagine it'll be: World of Darkness: The Requiem will be the initial box at release, the first free update will then be World of Darkness: The Forsaken and will allow players to create a werewolf character as well as intoroduce werewold themed content, the second free update will be World of Darkness: The Vigil and will feature hunters (if I had my way, the game would launch with Hunter themed stuff and use the rest as bad guys for now, but only becvause I had so much fun playing Hunter: The Gathering with my friends so long ago,) and hunter themed content, the third free update will be World the Darkness: The Awakening and will feature mages and mage themed content.
That is all assuming that they'll use the White Wolf games and the World of Darkness IP to it's full, complete potential and further assuming they release about two free expansions a year like EVE Online does.
In the end WoD has the potential to end up as a very rich and varied game universe full of unique (for an MMO) stuff to do.
I'll grit my walk with vampire dust in winter and carpet my house with puppy fur. Guess what I am?
Well we'll be seeing eachother on the battlefield then at some point I'm afraid. I've been playing Darkfall as a Mahirim so as to get used to using a Canine avatar. I'm ready for you, and your dirty carpet making aspirations! Be warned!

I encourage you to check all the major settings: Vampire The Requiem, Werewolf the Forsaken (they hunt spirits... they tend to avoid vampires)Mage the awakening + all the other lesser knows ones.
First two emotes will be:
/oops_i_broke_a_nail
and
/my_mascara_is_running
OMG if they allow you to adorn your home with the hides of PC werewolves you've killed... or vampire heads if you play a werewolf... that will be the most epic PvP ever!
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
Combining the offline training from Eve and the storytelling system from White Wolf, the WOD MMORPG will consiste of logging in to read what your character did...
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
Explorer: 87%, Killer: 67%, Achiever: 27%, Socializer: 20%
Lets see...
Vampires - too emo and Twilight for me and very gay. [tho CCP may solve this].
Hunters - Pthh Humans are boring so will need some really cool background and abilaties.
Wherewolve - Definatly me as i do like to pvp and the close combat style [ripping out throats hmm yummy].
So i guess Wherewolves are for me.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981
I doubt we'll ever get mages in the game. Those guys are just too powerful. I CAN imagine vampires and werewolves, however, because werewolves think vampires are servants of the wyrm. Maybe hunters, too.
It'd have a nice symbolism to it, too: Vampires vs Werewolves vs Hunters = Wyrm vs Wyld vs Weaver
@mikaleon: The vast majority do, they just dress in various varieties of pretty. Such as punk-anarchist, renaissance, gypsy etc.
In my opinion, the only thing that will save this game is some form of rage / karma meter. Not a clue how to do it, especially if you can't turn to the dark side. ( Dear god, I'd love to be a Black Spiral Dancer. )
Girls don't play CCP games. This is common knowledge.
In all seriousness though the WOD franchise is a pretty rich one with some very adult themes. and naturally nothing as retarded as Twilight. A 3 pronged PvP scenario could fairly easily be set up that everyone has been dieing for since Dark Age of Camelot... and it suits a hard-core PvP type of gameplay that CCP is known for. I'm fairly excited about it.
Also WOD werewolves are actually werewolves and not overgrown dogs.
