May come back to Lineage II

SeasonzSeasonz Member Posts: 113

I'm getting bored of Ragnarok Online, yes I'v joined the 2nd best guild on Iris server, but I'm still getting really bored. So I'ev been thinking about going back to Lineage II. And I thought about the reasons why I left Lineage II, which they were because I had no inspiration, I didnt play with anyone, every person I ecounterd were either bots or AFK venders. I have a decent NPC store bought equip on my hume Wizard, but I think what the problem was... is the server I was on. I was on Erica, and there werent many players on there, I meen it wasent really populated at all. So I have some questions

= = What is the estimated time on jobchanging [lvl 20] = =
= = How can I deal with the drop rate [ getting items x-x ] = =

May I ask how long ago you played on Erica?

I currently play on Erica right now, and I have found it to be a great server. (: There's a lot of nice people-- but of course it has its share of bots and griefers. But they are well announced over the shout channel, so everyone is aware. I have found grouping to be easy, and it is well populated in my opinion. (: I have been playing Lineage II for two months now, and have never encountered a time that I wanted to change servers. If you would like to contact me, my most active character right now is Ests and I am on Erica everyday. (: Hope to see you back in Lineage II, and I would be happy to help you.

I recently read in a review over at mmoghell.com that to get to lvl 20, it took them around 100 hours to do. Granted, they were playing Lineage 2: Prelude...but the grind is probably the same.

Here's a quote from the review:

"Often is the case, however, that exaggerations are based on harsh truths; you won’t see any real rewards in this game for close to 100 hours, which is about how long it takes to reach level 20 and the first profession change (read: reward). You won’t ever meaningfully participate in a castle siege unless you’re associated with a clan. Your clan won’t be able to participate in a castle siege unless its leader has spent 2,080,000 skill points, almost enough to buy every skill from level 1-44 for a Dark Elf Spellhowler. To attain a level 5 clan (the highest level) requires another 3.2 million, all of which he has to earn through the normal XP grind. He’ll also need to spend just shy of 50,000,000 adena. When this game is called hardcore, people aren’t being flip. This is the single most challenging MMO I’ve ever seen including EverQuest."

I've played L2 for about 8 months, and it really is a tough game.  While I don't think it will take you 100+ hours to make level 20, it can take you a while starting out on your first character, unless you get lucky and someone gives you some gear.

Some things to know about the game is that the game is really really dependent on what armor you have, and most people have the top gear for their level so if you don't you will be at a disadvantage.  This is due to a combination of the facts that most lower levels are rerolls of people with alot of cash, and that L2 is flooded with people who buy ingame money on Ebay.

If you don't like to grind, don't play this game.  There is a tremendous amount of grind required, and the gear is extremely costly given the amount of money you get when hunting.  Some of the figures about the sp and monetary costs to get your clan leveled are outdated, they have changed since prelude, I think it costs only a couple million total of in game money (adena), but the sp is probably right.  At the same time a clan reaching level 5 usually has members of 50+ level, and hunting in the right spots you can get this sp without too much difficulty.

Overall I like the game alot, I think it would have been better if I had gotten into it earlier with the first rush of players, I feel I am behind alot of them lol.  It takes alot of work to get anywhere in the game, and there are alot of cheaters which take something out of the whole experience IMO, but still a good game.
