My Response to my permanent account closure due to
"teleportation hacking".. instead of rewrite for forums just c & p
To whom this may concern,
I am a full-time student with a part-time job that has been paying for this game independently since it's release: I had so anticipated this game that I pre-ordered it 3-4 weeks before it was available in stores (without having played it or been able to participate in the open beta since I was on a 56k connection).
I am not trying to pander to emotions, but to reveal to you how disgusted I am with your company's absurd notion of "rigor" and why I am so incensed about your vapid accusations:
Being on a 56k connection with latencies in the 500-700 range, there are often instances where my commands no longer respond (I am guessing that it is because your server does not receive packets sent from the program?) and I often end up waiting for 5-15 minutes (or less) for the server to respond.
I noticed that by moving and attacking different targets, that I would have less waiting time... (maybe this is because it was a means of sending packets continuously to the server? I don't know...) This might be why there were discrepancies between the last packet the server received and the packet received there-after......
If the inviduals that were responsible for reviewing the logs had bothered to notice... the intervals that contained the discrepancies were within only a few 5-10 minute intervals OVER 3-8 hours of play time..... meaning that the use of a "teleport hack" or whatever you're accusing me of would not be a valid accusation... or else I would have used it ONCE within a 3hr interval? ....
I also would disconnect often in the auction house...meaning that I would click on the list of prices for certain items and they would not display... and would then log on only to find myself on the zeppelin or in a different zone. I am only guessing that these are the reasons for the accusations.... but having NEVER USED NOR CREATED (NOT EVEN THE ENDORSED KOSMOS) A WOW MOD I wouldn't know....
Ironically, I have been having this problem for eons... since the launch, although less frequently once I switched to a server with a small population.
Yet... you suspend/terminate my account once you implement the "Permanent" closure policy... without adequate proof or intelligent justification.
Is this your means of rooting out the 56k users before the implementation of Battle Grounds (as raiding has been impossible as it is to 56k users)....?
..... (what follows was not sent to blizzard)
There you have it... I have played WoW since release and was banned instantly... I am angry and disappointed at blizzard...
I have never had an MMORPG experience as gratifying as that of WoW.... but it was cut short by faulty administration...... let this be a warning to prospective 56k users......
Guess I'll just have to wait till DnL and GW
P.S : If you happened to have the same experience (of being accused of using mods when you didn't) please respond to this thread in order to give credence. I am still in shock at losing my account with my lvl 51 character.......
I am guessing, by symmetry, that I am not the only user that will be a victim.

No, I was always a model citizen of WoW: I hadn't received any warnings or such about behavior or usage of third-party programs...
It's actually part of their new policy: Non-negotiable, permanent, account-closure if they "suspect" you of using third party programs......

Blizzard did fired 2 guys for reasons related to in game lag not long ago(was in the news headers here).
Althought I am no insider, I strongly doubt that those 2 guys deserve been fired. Blizzard also have many issues with it devs over long period of time(ask ArenaNet, althought those guys are way to nice to answer openly about how bullshitting Blizzard is, I am a customer and I have every rights, so I dont mind lashing out).
Blizzard is banning players ''doing casinos'', I mean, they are annoying, maybe you could lock them from all general chat or remove gambling with others measures(having NPCs doing a decent gambling system would be the best way of getting rid of it), but banning them?
Blizzard was very fast to refund peoples for the time the servers are down, which is good from a customer point of view, but it also tell you a lot about their mentality. If they are that harsh on themselves, they will on about everyone else.
The result may be more good then bad, until it is some of your friends or you that is ''banned'' for no good reasons.
It is pretty obvious to me, that a level 51 who have been subscribing since the beginning is not very successfully abusing WoW with any hack, if any at all.

Sorry man... my bad... I misinterpreted that as an implication that I must have been lying about having been a member since launch.
Given how late it was and how angry Blizzard made me, (I didn't even get a toll-free phone number to contact them by) the cynical and paranoid parts of my brain really took over.
Also, having seen you on forums (having never seen you flame before or not respond intelligently) I should have realized that sooner... oh well... errare humanum est :X

Sorry if you feel insulted, it was, by no mean, the intend. I was, sacarsticly, laughing at Blizzard.
It is, extremely obvious to me, that a level 51 in WoW(after 3 months) is not abusing a hack or even an exploit, and if they are, they are likely like teenagers selling limonade without charging taxes.
I apologize if I hurt your feelings.

People getting banned for no reason is just stupid..
scientology
im sorry but all i can do is laugh at this (and all the other things going on with blizzard) after everyone praised this game so much.
oh, forgot to add this , here is the last part which i find extremely funny.
Today, Sony Online Entertainment would like to invite players from any game that may be experiencing lines to log in to their servers, a lack of customer service attention, or a lack of new, free game content, to play the EverQuest II Trial of the Isle demo -- We think they'll agree that EverQuest II is a fun, engaging experience that players have to see to believe.
I'm a WoW played (Not a fanboi, mind) and I thought that was VERY funny. Hahahahaha. I actually LOL'ed.
Wow, I'll assume you were tired and just took Anofalye's post the wrong way. Probably still annoyed at Blizzard, etc. All Anofayle was saying is that someone level 51 that has been subscribed since the beginning, who plays a decent amount (which was implied in your letter to Blizzard) is a normal level. Someone cheating the game would probably have reaped more of a benefit. It wasn't degrading your accomplishment at all.
Then on top of that.. you insult Anofayle's intelligence because their English isn't up to your standards? Well, they're from Quebec. I'd bet money that French is Anofayle's primary language. Perhaps you should post entirely in French, so that Anofayle may mock a few errors. Oh, and yes.. I realize Djibouti is a French territory - or used to be, at least. Still, based on the forced "intelligence" in your letter to Blizzard I'd say it's your primary language. Hey, I could be wrong.

I have to agree with ya, i bought the European version of WoW and within a day i was already bored. The roleplaying servers had players who didn't care roleplaying {although there were some good roleplayers} there was just to many non-roleplayers for my liking.
I was disappointed in all, but it still has potential?
For myself i have started playing EVE online and having a lot of fun?
ok EQ2 fanboi, WOW is still a much more popular game than EQ2. WOW won the war, so get over it already
Well not really ghoul although I agree WoW has more subscribers than EQ2, EQ2 charges more per month than WoW so all things considered SoE are probably generating more revenue than Blizzard especially with station acess pass, $5 for adventure packs. Long term WoW doesn't stand much chance.
This does not make a lot of logical sense.
If your issue was because of dial-up only, several thousands would have experienced the same thing. I am sorry, I do not see this as a scandal.
at all.
Here's the Blizzard response to some of the accusations of false bans:
https://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=1699978&s=blizzard&tmp=1#blizzard
"While I'm not a GameMaster, I'm fully aware of our methods and procedures concerning this subject. We don't take disciplinary action purely based upon reports. Once we receive a report, we investigate the matter thoroughly (using full-proof methods that I'm unable to disclose), and take action only after we witness a transgression of the Terms of Use agreement. Rest assured, players that follow the rules have nothing to fear from false accusations made against them."
I'm not going to get into the debate over whether the OP is lying or not, but I will say this. Regardless of whether 100% of the players banned by Blizzard were guilty, or 0% were guilty...the result would be the same: a lot of posts stating "I wuz framed!"
Sorry to hear about this incident. It's been a part of Blizzard's storied Battle.net past to ban accounts wholesale. It's always worked for them in the past since most banned players would simply buy another Diablo II (or whatever game) CD key and start playing again...chaching, more retail.
But they'll have a lot harder time in the MMOG genre with that kind of heavy-handed approach, primarily because the personal investment of time into the avatar is much more intense in MMOGs than in D2 (and almost totally non-existant in WarCraft/StarCraft).
This is all part of the growing pains that Blizzard is going to have to go through in this new marketspace. This is also why I'm not going to bother reactivating my WoW accounts until much later this year, if ever. I'm sure they'll pull through it all, but it's going to be a painful process for everyone.
This isn't surprising.
Coming from a company (who as previously stated) was gonna ban players for gambling. (There is a /roll command)
Use a little innovation and you get banned.
Personally I would of found AD's for gambling a lot less annoying then some of the drivel that comes out of these b.net kiddies mouths.
"Fear not death; for the sooner we die, the longer shall we be immortal."
Making an mmorpg is a nice way to commit PR suicide (Look at SoE). People can whine about how bad SoE is but when it comes to running and making good mmorpgs they are second to non (maybe funcom). When dealing with players that play on a monthly basis they expect a lot for their dollar. In the 2 months ive played WoW i have had to wait in ques to get on my sever, deal with an ungodly amount of lag. Worst of all is the fact that game doesnt seem to be going any where. For 2 freaking months and no added content. I dont know exactly what blizzard is trying to pull here but charging a monthly fee and you cant get your severs running right or add additional content to your game is just completely out of line. Looking at the way blizzard is running this game is just pushing to pick up a copy of eq2. At least it seems like SoE is actually working on their game and so far have pretty stable severs as opposed to the wooden severs (WoW severs) that crash when a few hundred players meet up in a town. I give it 2 more months and blizzard would have a name 10 times worse than SoE.
Had I used a hack and been caught I would not have had any qualms with buying a new cd, but
why exactly I was accused of using hacks when I didn't will never be resolved since everything
is done black-box....
What guarantees do I have, if I buy another copy, that I will not be accused again of using a
hack that I didn't? I use a very effective firewall and have reinstalled the OS recently... so I
know that it is not a trojan/spyware or foreign users...
What if it wasn't my connection but some sort of mix-up? Do I rely on the fact that the
probability of me being falsely accused again is smaller?
THe problem is that blizzard conceals it's processes from everybody, which improves the
black-box invariant, but also makes it impossible for outside sources (that are more competent)
to see what they could be doing wrong...
I rescind my comment about them knowing that the problem exists... but that they lack insight
from a tester on a 56k connection (based on the assumption that most of their testing data was
obtained from users with cable+) .. honestly I still have no idea what could have gone wrong, but
it did.
To add insult to injury the only phone number I can contact them by is a long distance (although
toll-free) number.......
